The dream had come again, the same as it had for twenty-three years.

She'd run through the old oak grove, her lungs burning as she panted heavily. The moon hung fat and low, bleeding red along the edges. Ahead of her, Luna Selene, Kai’s mother, stood in the clearing, her white fur coat torn with her silver hair loose and streaked with blood.

Luna was holding a tiny bundle wrapped in a blanket. Samara gasped in fear. It was the hybrid child.

“ Luna… You're making a big mistake. If Alpha f

  • THE ALPHA WHO STOLE CHRISTMAS    32. A RUINED MORNING

The day for the meeting she’d longingly anticipated had finally come and Ariana felt anything but steady. It felt like a dream and a nightmare all at once. Today was the day she was going to get the fruit of her hard-earned labor. Her preparations would pay off, and she’d be able to prove to Ms. Harlan that she could get Kai Torrence on board as stubborn as he might prove to be. She stood in front of the full-length mirror in the mansion’s guest room, staring at her reflection with a mix of nerves and determination. Lena made sure to make her appear elegant without being flashy, her hot black dress hugging her figure in all the right places while looking professional. Her diamond earrings and choker added just the right touch of sophistication. Lena was behind her, making sure to apply the final touches to her makeup carefully. Thanks to her bestie she looked like a beautiful office siren. “ Ughhh girl you look so stunning!!!” Lena praised as she stepped back to admire her wo

  • THE ALPHA WHO STOLE CHRISTMAS    31. SHADOWS OF OLD ALLIANCES

Kai I stared at the letter that was still in my hand, the barely contained anger rushing through my veins. How dare this man? The words blurred for a moment as I reread them. Alpha Draven of the Silver Fang Pack was officially ending our alliance. He accused me of shunning and hurting his daughter, and threatened to team up with another pack, possibly even Viktor’s rogues only under the condition that I agree to court his “precious daughter” and make her my mate. The audacity. I crumpled the paper in my fist, my knuckles turning white. “Who the hell does he think he is?” I growled under my breath. “ Stay calm, Alpha,” Cephas said. “I’m pretty sure this was the same reaction he was hoping to get out of you if you read this.” I tossed the crumpled letter onto the desk. “The bastard thinks he can command me? After everything?” Cephas sat across from me, rubbing his jaw. “ But then wait… the rejection happened a long time ago. We all thought he’d moved past it. Why is he soundi

  • THE ALPHA WHO STOLE CHRISTMAS    30. SELFISH

Kai I sat alone in my study carrying the heavy weight of guilt and confusion that brewed from within. The lamp on my desk cast long shadows across the room, but it did nothing to chase away the darkness inside my chest. With frustration, I ran my fingers through my hair as if I could pull out all the regret I was feeling from it. My mark throbbed badly … a constant reminder of her. How could I be so selfish? Selfish …. That word kept echoing in my mind. I had been selfish. Pushing her when she wasn’t even ready … kissing her, touching her and almost giving in to the temptation of fucking her while she was still engaged to another man. All because this stupid bond kept screaming at me to claim what was mine, almost driving me insane. Maybe I should ignore the pull… Ignore … the idea of doing that kept circling like a vulture. What other option did I have? I don't think this is a do-or-die situation. I could just ignore it … Reject her and focus on my pack and my b

Ari I instantly moved in front of the door, blocking his path before he could open it. “You’re not leaving the room until you tell me what Lena told you,” I said. My voice was still shaking as if it were expecting something soul-crushing. My heart on the other hand was kinda racing from the sex we almost had. My body trembled from leftover desire. Kai stopped inches away from me. I could feel the heat radiating off his body as he got closer and closer. His messy dark hair fell over his forehead, his eyes looking so frustrated but yearning at the same time. The bond between us pulsed hot and insistent, like it was trying to pull us back together.“ Ariana…” he started low and rough. “Tell me…,” I pressed, my back still against the door. “ What did Lena tell you?”He ran his hand through his hair, looking so torn between whether to spill or not. “You’d have to ask her to tell you because I can’t do that.”“ Kai please … I’m begging you. I want to know.”“ Fuck… this is none of my

Ari “Do you despise me?” The words echoed in my ears and then hung between us, creating a weird tension as I tried to open my mouth to answer him. “ Hell… No I don't…” But I never completed the sentence. Kai closed the distance between us in just one swift stride and shut the door behind us. His mouth crashed into mine in a desperate devouring kiss and once again I could feel my heart jump out of my stomach… my body melting helplessly like butter in the sun. Fuck I wanted him so bad. It didn't even matter that I was mad at him earlier. He kissed me with this intense raw hunger that made my nipples stand and throb against my gown. His hands cupped my face as his tongue swept into my mouth and claimed me completely. “ Kai…” I moaned softly into our kiss, my fingers instantly tangling into his messy dark hair. He tasted so good and you could tell by the way his tongue slipped in and out of my mouth that he'd been starving for this exact moment. Now all the anger I had for

  • THE ALPHA WHO STOLE CHRISTMAS    27.  Do You Despise Me?

Ariana “ Can you excuse Kai and me for a minute?” I asked Lena and pulled Kai away for a chat. I couldn’t believe he’d brought Lena here especially when she didn’t know anything, more specifically on the fact that she was standing on wolf territory. “ Why’d you bring her here? And why would you decide I’ll be staying with you? What gives you the right to make that decision for me?” “ Your friend didn’t give me much of a choice. I made sure to bring her straight here without stopping in any sensitive or suspicious areas.” “ You didn’t answer my second and third questions?” “ Well if you say I’m infringing on your rights, you’re free to do as you please. I can return your stuff so you can go back and live with a man who doesn’t even consider your safety to be his priority. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to make a call with Samara.” He turned and walked away without even waiting to hear my response. I stood there stunned, my anger boiling up so hot I could feel the burning of m

Kai My armor felt heavier than it looked. It was heavy enough to make my shoulder blades hurt even before battle. I admired myself in the mirror watching how its silver plates were laced with runic wards, the leather as thick as a wolf’s hide, a breast plate etched with the Oak Claw’s crest.

  • THE ALPHA WHO STOLE CHRISTMAS    5. DREAMS AND DEADLINES

Ariana Months had passed since that tense Christmas dinner. Autumn was already creeping in… I’d buried myself in work and the wedding preparations. Of course, it was all a distraction from thinking about Kai. The crescent moon scar on my wrist had faded slightly into a faint sil

Ariana stood at the counter, rolling out dough for the cranberry-brie puff pastry bites Lena had sworn would “ wow” Jake’s parents. Flour dusted her black sweater like fake snow and the fairy lights that strung over the window twinkled mockingly at her. Wham! Lena slammed th

  • THE ALPHA WHO STOLE CHRISTMAS    3. SHE SAID YES

“ Sir, Miss Blake has been delivered safely to her apartment.” “And?” Kai didn’t turn to look back at his driver. He stood at the door to the ceiling window with his hands clasped behind his back. He stared blankly at the city lights that shone and twinkled like shattered stars
