The mansion was enormous, and Amara felt like a tiny intruder as she walked through the front doors, her suitcase clutched tightly in her hand. The polished marble floor reflected the soft glow of the chandeliers, making the whole space shimmer.

“This is… a lot,” she muttered, her eyes darting from the grand staircase to the sparkling crystal chandelier above.

Alexander Cole, standing perfectly straight in a tailored suit, gave her a faint smile that sent a shiver down her spine. “It’s home,” he said simply, as if that word alone could explain everything.

Amara swallowed. Home… really? This place could fit an entire apartment complex inside. And now she was supposed to live here.

He led her through the house, showing her room—a large space with floor-to-ceiling windows and a view of the city skyline. A plush bed sat in the center, and a small desk with fresh flowers rested by the window.

“This is your room. Comfortable?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.

“It’s… overwhelming,” she admitted, setting down her suitcase. “I don’t know what to say.”

Alexander nodded once. “You’ll get used to it. The house rules are simple: meals at scheduled times, respect private spaces, and no wandering into my study.”

Amara chuckled nervously. “Got it. No sneaking around in the billionaire’s secret lair.”

He didn’t smile. “Exactly.”

The first few days in the mansion were… complicated. Amara struggled to navigate the vast hallways, accidentally knocking over a vase in the living room one morning.

“Are you always this clumsy?” Alexander asked, his tone calm but teasing.

“I—hey! It’s not my fault it was in the middle of the hallway!” she protested, though a small laugh escaped her.

He didn’t argue. Instead, he walked over, picked up the vase, and handed it to her. “Careful next time,” he said, his eyes lingering just a second too long.

Amara felt a flush rise to her cheeks. Why did he have to make everything feel so… personal?

Despite the strict rules, there were moments that made her heart race. A brush of hands while passing in the hallway. A shared glance during breakfast. Even the way he would study her quietly in the evenings, his expression unreadable, but something soft and intimate hidden underneath.

One night, she found herself on the balcony, staring at the city lights and the dark river below. Alexander appeared beside her silently, offering her a blanket when he noticed her shivering.

“Why are you here?” she asked, trying to sound casual, though her heart was beating fast.

“I could ask the same,” he replied. His voice was low, warm, and sent a ripple through her chest.

They stood side by side, the wind tugging at her hair. His presence was overwhelming, yet comforting. She could feel the heat of him just inches away, and it was almost unbearable.

“You don’t have to pretend with me,” he murmured, almost to himself. “I see who you are… even if you think you’re hiding it.”

Amara’s breath hitched. “And… who do you see?”

He didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he reached for her hand—a light touch that lingered. “Someone I can’t stop thinking about,” he whispered.

Amara’s pulse thundered. She knew this was wrong, impossible even. And yet… she didn’t want him to let go.

The following days were a mix of small arguments and unexpected moments of intimacy.

He would leave a cup of her favorite coffee on her desk without saying a word.

She would catch him watching her from the corner of the room, only for him to pretend he wasn’t.

They argued about meals, household chores, and schedules—but each disagreement seemed to draw them closer, leaving tension in its wake that neither of them could deny.

Amara couldn’t stop thinking about him, even when she tried. Alexander Cole, the man she barely knew, had already started to consume her thoughts—and she hated that she liked it.

Yet, despite the tension, there was something thrilling about it. Every moment in this mansion felt charged, as if every glance and touch could ignite a spark that neither was prepared to handle.

By the time evening arrived, the mansion felt unusually tense.Amara stood in front of the mirror in her room, staring at her reflection. She had changed outfits three times already.“This is ridiculous,” she muttered under her breath. Why was she even nervous? It was just dinner.Dinner with Alexander…And his ex.Amara sighed and adjusted the soft black dress she finally decided to wear. It was simple but elegant, hugging her figure just enough to make her feel confident.“You’re overthinking this,” she told herself. But deep down she knew the truth. She wanted to look good tonight. Not for Sophia. But for Alexander. That realization alone made her cheeks warm slightly. Before she could change her mind again, she grabbed her phone and headed downstairs. The dining room was already prepared when she arrived.Soft lights illuminated the long table, and the atmosphere felt strangely formal.Sophia was already seated, casually sipping a glass of wine. Her eyes immediately lifted when sh

The moment on the balcony stayed in Amara’s mind long after it ended. Even when she went back inside the mansion, the strange tension between her and Alexander followed her like a shadow. They hadn’t touched. They hadn’t kissed. Yet somehow the moment felt far more dangerous than it should have been. Amara walked down the hallway slowly, trying to clear her thoughts. Why was he standing so close? And more importantly… Why didn’t I move away? She groaned quietly. “This is getting ridiculous,” she muttered to herself. But deep down she knew the truth. Something between her and Alexander had shifted. And pretending nothing happened would not make it disappear. The next morning arrived quietly. Sunlight filtered gently through the tall windows of the dining room, filling the space with a warm golden glow. Amara sat at the table with a cup of tea in her hands. But she wasn’t drinking it. Her thoughts were far away. Every time she remembered how close Alexa

  • THE BILLIONAIRE'S ACCIDENTAL BRIDE   CHAPTER 13: The Night That Changed Everything

Amara barely slept that night. Alexander’s words kept replaying in her mind. She died three years ago. She stared at the ceiling of her room, wondering about the woman he once loved. Whoever she was, she must have been very important to him. For the first time since their strange marriage began, Amara felt something unfamiliar. Jealousy. She quickly shook her head. “That’s ridiculous,” she whispered to herself. Their marriage was only a contract. Nothing more. At least… that was what it was supposed to be. The next morning, sunlight streamed through the tall windows of the mansion. Amara walked downstairs, dressed in a simple cream-colored dress. As she entered the dining room, she saw Alexander already seated at the table with a cup of coffee in his hand. He looked up when she walked in. “Good morning.” “Morning,” Amara replied, trying to sound normal. But Alexander noticed the slight tension in her voice. “You didn’t sleep well.” “That obvious?” “Yes.” She sighe
