CHAPTER 21

The first indication that there was something wrong was when he called her , canceling the plans she had for the girls and her. She couldn’t help but ask him about it.

“Is everything okay?” she asked.“

Everything is perfect babe,” he said calmly, “ the girls just have jetlag, so they wanted to stay at home and spend more time with their dad before the return back to school. They don’t want to share my attention yet.”

Share? She knew he meant it as a joke, but it didn’t just sit well with her. She wasn’t trying to drag anyone’s attention from anyone, she just wanted to get to know them. She laid out her concerns to Brian the next day during lunch, and he waved her off.

“Calm down baby, let’s just give them a little time to take the information in. They probably didn’t expect their daddy to be in a serious relationships so quickly,’’ He shrugged.

“So quickly? his wife has been gone for more than two years now,” she said, annoyed.

“ I know,” he sighed. “ I think
