They looked faintly remorseful. Jenna had admitted to her best friend how bad they had treated Emma, expecting her best friend to praise her, but she chided her instead. And like a stubborn bitch, she didn’t let the scolding get to her.

“Well, it’s a good thing we don’t want her to be our step mother then,” Britney said stubbornly.

“You have no idea how good Emma is, I could’ve dated a lot worse. And besides, you’re not kids anymore. Jenna, you’re nineteen, and Britney, you’re twenty, you girls don’t get to act like spoilt entitled brats f

“Well if you marry her, we won’t visit you anymore.”

“Sorry then, it will be really hard to cope without jobs,’’ he threatened them.

“Are you threatening to cut us off?” Jenna gasped. Their father had always been unpredictable; she wasn’t how far he would go.

“I wouldn’t test me if I were you,” he warned. “If eventually, Emma and I get married, I will be forced to cut you off if you don’t get your shit together.”
