The car rolled smoothly, down the long and winding driveway, its tires humming against the asphalt. But Lumi Reeves didn’t notice any of it. She was too lost in her thoughts. Her body felt like it was running on autopilot as her mind drifted in a haze, consumed by the doctor's words. "His condition is serious, Lumi and we don’t have much time. The bills... they’re mounting up, and you need to prepare yourself." She had heard them so many times, but still, they echoed relentlessly in her head, as if trying to suffocate her.

How could she pay for it all? Her father had given everything for her, and now he laid in that hospital bed, pale and weak. She felt tears prick her eyes, but she pushed them back. I have to be strong, she thought. I can't let him see me break.

The driver parked the car gently. Still, Lumi didn’t move. She barely even registered that they had arrived. Her hands rested in her lap, clutching the purse, with fingers numb and stiff.

The driver cleared his throat, breaking through the silence that had enveloped her. “Ms. Reeves, we’re here,” he said softly, his voice was hesitant, almost as if he feared disturbing her reverie.

Lumi blinked slowly, as if waking from a long, and dark dream. Her gaze met him for a moment, but her eyes were distant. She shook her head, as if trying to shake off the heaviness that weighed her down.

"Thanks," she muttered, her voice hoarse.

The driver handed her purse to her with an assuring smile. "It’ll be okay, Ms. Reeves. You’ll get through this."

She nodded faintly, though she wasn’t sure what she was agreeing to. He didn’t know what she was really feeling. How could he? No one could. Lumi wasn’t sure she could even understand it herself. She pushed open the car door, and the moment her feet hit the driveway, she felt the exhaustion that had been lingering in her chest tighten.

Slowly, she made her way forward, each movement deliberate and sluggish. The house loomed before her, looking dark and imposing, but it felt different today. The silence in the air was deafening.

As she entered the Langford mansion, the quietness struck her like a blow. It was too still, too silent. Her breath caught in her throat as she looked around, noticing the absence of familiar sounds.

She glanced at the framed portraits that lined the entryway—Henry's father in his prime, looking stern and proud; her own wedding photo with Henry, where she smiled brightly while he looked distant. The portraits stared back, at her, empty. Elena had fired all the maids months ago, claiming that they were unnecessary expenses and that Lumi could handle things herself. It had made the place feel colder, and more isolating.

She hadn’t planned on coming back today, not after the doctor’s visit. The news from the doctor had drained her, leaving no courage to stay by her father's side. She needed a solution, and fast.

That desperate need for a solution, it had dragged her back here. She had thought she would go straight to her father’s hospital room, but now... now she felt an overwhelming need to speak to Henry.

Maybe he would help. Maybe he would finally be the husband she had hoped for all these years. And maybe he could help her find a way out of this mess.

Lumi’s steps were slow, and unsure, as she ascended the stairs. Her heart pounded with worry as she climbed the stairs, and her body exhausted from the emotional weight. The medical bills flashed in her mind again—thousands stacking up, and threatening to bury her family. She gripped the railing, as tears blurred her vision. What if Henry refuses? No, he has to help. He's all I have left.

The house felt colder than usual and she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was terribly wrong. As she reached the top, she noticed that the door to the master bedroom was ajar.

Her heart skipped a beat, and she hesitated for a moment, but her curiosity, and need for answers, pushed her forward. She pushed the door open gently, and the sight that greeted her froze her in place.

The first thing she saw was the thrusting—Henry's hips slamming forward and back, his body covered in sweat, and muscles tense. He was buried deep inside a woman beneath him, her legs wrapped around his waist, her body writhing, and moans filling the room.

Her eyes widened, and her breath caught in her throat.

The sight was too much for Lumi to process. Henry’s face was contorted in pleasure, with his hands gripping the woman's breasts as he thrust into her. The room smelled of sex, sweat, and betrayal. Her mind couldn’t comprehend it—this couldn’t be happening. Lumi’s body screamed at her to look away, but she was frozen. Her husband—her husband—was having sex with someone else.

But that wasn’t the worst part.

The worst part was the woman in the bed beneath him. It was Elena, his stepmother. With her blonde hair splayed across the pillow, and her face flushed with pleasure.

Henry groaned, his hands gripping Elena's breasts tightly as he squeezed them. "You feel so good," he muttered, his voice rough. "Take it all, just like that." Elena moaned louder, with her nails digging into his back. "Harder, Henry. Don't stop," she gasped, arching up to meet his thrusts.

Lumi’s breath hitched as she watched Henry bury his lips into Elena’s mouth, his body jerking with each movement, and each savage thrust. His grip on her was possessive, and greedy. He had never spoken to her like that. He had never even touched her like that.

Her thoughts screamed at her, each one more impossible than the last.

This couldn't be real. Henry had Peyronie's disease—he had told her that from the start. The disease prevented him from having sex, and from being intimate in that way. For two years, they had used vibrators. With Lumi pleasing him orally while he pleasured her with toys. She had endured the frustration and loneliness, believing it was all because of his condition. But here he was, thrusting with full force, and no sign of pain or limitation. He had lied. All this time, he had starved her sexually and now here he was, with his stepmother, doing the very thing he had claimed was impossible.

Lumi’s heart shattered, and her hands trembled as she held onto the purse, her grip tightening until her knuckles turned white. She couldn’t breathe.

Pain ripped through her chest, as tears streamed down her face as her thoughts screamed. How could he? I loved him since childhood. I waited, I tried. Was it all a lie? Her knees weakened, her body shaking with betrayal. The humiliation burned deep, as memories began flooding back. Memories of her spending most of her nights alone with a vibrator, feeling unwanted, and unloved. He had made her feel broken, but he was the one faking it.

Her legs buckled, and her purse slipped from her hand, falling with a heavy thud to the floor. The noise broke through the chaos in the room, and suddenly, Henry and Elena froze.

Their eyes met hers, and for a moment, the world stopped. Henry looked up, his eyes meeting hers. While Elena smirked beneath him, but neither of them seemed startled.

Sophia pushed her office door shut with more force than necessary, and the sound echoed sharply through the corridor before settling into silence. She stood still for a moment after that, her chest rising and falling as she tried to steady her breathing. However, the anger inside her refused to settle. She turned abruptly and began pacing the length of her office.“This is completely unacceptable,” she muttered under her breath, her tone filled with irritation. Her heels struck the floor in quick, sharp rhythms as she moved back and forth, her thoughts replaying the events from earlier again and again. The way Malhart had spoken to her.The way he had interrupted her.The way he had dismissed her words as though they held no value. Her expression darkened further.“He had no right to speak to me like that in front of everyone,” she said, her voice rising slightly. “Absolutely no right.”She stopped in front of her desk and leaned forward, placing both hands firmly against its surface

  • THE BILLIONAIRE'S SECRET REVENGE   An Unexpected Turn

Lumi remained standing where she was long after Sophia walked away. Her eyes followed the direction the woman had gone, and although the confrontation had ended, the tension it left behind still lingered in the air. The office slowly came back to life. Chairs shifted, keyboards resumed their quiet clicking, and low whispers began to spread among the employees. Even then, it was obvious that no one had truly moved on from what had just happened. Lumi exhaled slowly, trying to steady herself. That was too much, she thought. Everything escalated too quickly. Her heart was still beating faster than normal, and her hands felt slightly unsteady. The confrontation had drained her emotionally, and the sight of her torn work sitting on the desk still made her chest tighten painfully. However, as she stood there, her thoughts gradually shifted to the man who had stepped in and ended everything so decisively. She turned her attention to him. Senior Designer Malhart. She studied him q

  • THE BILLIONAIRE'S SECRET REVENGE   When Authority Speaks

For several long seconds after the last piece of paper fell to the floor, the office remained completely silent. The earlier tension had not disappeared, but it had shifted into something heavier, something that pressed down on everyone present. Every eye was fixed on the scattered remains of Lumi’s work. No one had expected Sophia to go that far. They had all seen her be harsh before. They had witnessed her criticize, intimidate, and humiliate employees without hesitation. However, tearing apart someone’s work in front of the entire department was something else entirely. Yet, despite the shock that was clearly written on their faces, no one stepped forward to say anything. They were afraid. Afraid of drawing Sophia’s attention to themselves. Afraid of becoming her next target. Lumi stood frozen beside her desk, her gaze fixed on the torn pieces of paper as though she could somehow reverse what had just happened if she stared long enough. Her fingers trembled slightly, a

Colleagues spoke in hushed tones whenever Sophia’s name came up, and the expressions that followed were always the same—uneasy, cautious, sometimes even fearful.Sophia was not just strict. She was ruthless. And now, she was standing right in front of Lumi.Lumi straightened slightly in her seat, forcing her expression to remain calm even though her mind was already alert. She could feel Victoria shift uncomfortably beside her.“Don’t say anything,” Victoria whispered quickly under her breath. “Just apologize and let it go.”Lumi did not respond immediately. Her fingers rested lightly on the manila folder sitting on her desk—the one that contained the campaign work she had spent hours completing. • THE BILLIONAIRE'S SECRET REVENGE   A Morning That Refused to Be Simple

The sharp ringing of the alarm cut through the quiet of the room, dragging Lumi out of her sleep in the most unpleasant way. She frowned immediately, her face tightening in irritation as she reached blindly toward the sound. When her fingers finally found the device, she hit it with more force than necessary, silencing it in one frustrated motion. She lay still for a few seconds, staring at the ceiling with tired eyes.“It’s only been three days,” she murmured to herself, her voice heavy with exhaustion. “Why does it feel like I’ve been doing this for weeks?”Her body felt weighed down, as though it had not rested at all. The workload from the past few days had been far too much for someone in her position, and she knew it. A junior role was not supposed to feel this demanding, yet every task she had been given seemed designed to stretch her beyond her limits. With a quiet sigh, she pushed herself up into a sitting position. The moment she did, her stomach churned violently. She fro

She tightened her grip on her bag as her thoughts raced, trying to make sense of the situation. She had not expected this at all.How was she supposed to know that the woman standing before her was not one of the maids who had been subtly mocking her since she arrived? The way this woman had spoken to her earlier had been no different from the others. The insults, the tone, the condescension—it had all felt familiar.Still, Lumi exhaled slowly as she tried to regain control of herself.
