Damien's Mansion: Damien's POV

The water was still dripping off my skin as I stood there, towel in hand, trying to clear my mind. But I couldn’t. My thoughts kept racing in circles, thoughts of her—Selene—taunting me. I’d been waiting for a breakthrough, a sign, something. But nothing had come. The damn silence was suffocating.

And then, the door to my room creaked open, snapping me out of my thoughts. Alvin stood there, his usual calm demeanor replaced by a rare sense of urgency.

"What's the problem?" I asked, my voice cold, though there was an edge of irritation in it. Whatever this was, I could already feel my patience fraying.

"Boss, you need to see this," Alvin said, his voice tight, almost breathless.

I raised an eyebrow, glancing at him through the mirror as I grabbed a pair of pants and pulled them on quickly. His nervousness was enough to make the air around us heavier. I wasn’t in the mood for games, but I could tell this wasn’t trivial.

"Lead the way," I muttere

Selene's POV"Then do you mind hurting yourself? Because you’ve been making me sad," I said, locking eyes with him. My voice wasn’t loud, but the weight behind it was unmistakable—a quiet tremor of disappointment wrapped in sadness, daring him to understand what I felt, to even try.He stared back at me. Those piercing, unreadable eyes. A breath of silence passed between us, thick and suffocating."Is that what you want, damsel?" he asked, his voice like velvet draped over a blade. Too calm. Too dangerous.I scoffed softly, shaking my head. "There’s no need to act like that. You and I both know you wouldn’t do it. So don't make promises you can't keep. If you can't even hurt yourself for making me sad, then don’t claim you’d kill someone else just to protect my feelings."It was supposed to be rhetorical—an emotional jab, a sarcastic rebuttal to his over-the-top words. I wasn’t asking for proof. But what he did next... shattered every boundary between reason and madness.Ronan walked

  • THE DEVIL'S POSSESSION   Chapter Thirty: Can You Hurt Yourself

Selene's POVThe air in the hall turned thick—almost suffocating—as Ronan’s words echoed with brutal finality. For a moment, no one moved. Then, all at once, the entire marketing team dropped to their knees like crumbling towers, desperation etched into their faces."Boss, please, I’m sorry! I shouldn’t have said anything…" one of the girls cried out, her voice trembling with fear. Her hands were clasped in front of her, knuckles white as she begged."Please, Boss," another woman joined in, eyes brimming with unshed tears. "It was a mistake. I swear it won’t happen again. Please don’t do this to us."Ronan’s lips curved into a cold, cutting smile. The kind that made the airdrop ten degrees colder. "Of course, it won’t repeat itself," he said, his tone light but deadly. "Do you know why? Because none of you will have the chance for it to happen again."Silence followed, heavy and absolute. My heart clenched.I stood there, rooted beside him, watching the way fear and shame painted itse

  • THE DEVIL'S POSSESSION   Chapter Twenty Nine: Fired

Selene's POVMy eyes snapped to Ronan, disbelief crashing through me like a tidal wave. What the hell is he doing?"Why do you need the CCTV footage?" I asked, my voice laced with tension as I tried to keep calm.He didn’t even glance at me as he replied, removing his phone from his pocket with maddening calm. "Since you decided not to tell me what happened, I’ve decided to find out my own way."His tone was casual, but there was steel underneath it. Determination. Control. The same Ronan who would move the world if it stood in his way. And this time, the obstacle was me.I stood, moving toward him with frustration bubbling inside me. "Ronan, don’t you think this is too much? I told you everything’s fine. There’s no need for any of this."He turned to look at me then. Really looked. And something in his gaze made the words die on my tongue. It was sharp, cold, and oddly gentle all at once. Like he was dissecting my emotions without touching me."You say you’re fine," he murmured, step

I sighed, shaking the thoughts of Ronan from my head like water from drenched skin, forcing my feet to keep moving through the corridor. The company was vast, intimidatingly pristine, and impersonal—like everything in Ronan Blackwood’s world. My heels echoed against the cold marble, a soft click-clack that barely masked the louder rhythm of my thoughts.I was supposed to be doing a tour—just a simple walk to stretch my legs, to clear my head. But peace, it seemed, wasn’t mine to have today. As I rounded the corner near the marking block, my ears caught the faint sound of voices. Laughter, too—low and sharp, the kind that didn’t hold humor but something crueler. I told myself to walk away. I should’ve walked away. But then I heard it.“She’s nothing to him.”The words stopped me like a slap to the face. I froze, my breath catching in my throat.“I bet she’s just a fling. A plaything. One of those disposable girls he toys with.”Another voice chimed in, skeptical but softer. “I don’t kn

Selene's POVMy heart thudded like a war drum in my chest, loud and chaotic, as I stared at him. Ronan. His name alone sounded like a dare—like danger draped in velvet. And yet, what he'd just said? It stunned me."You can go."Those three words didn’t just echo in my ears—they rattled through every corner of my mind, dismantling the tight web of control he always held over me.He had given me permission. Real permission. My throat felt dry, my lips parted slightly in disbelief. I couldn’t believe what I had just heard—but this was Ronan. The man might be mysterious, terrifying, and alluring all at once, but he never said anything he didn’t mean. His words were iron—cold, sharp, and deliberate.I tried to mask the storm within me with sarcasm, anything to deflect the emotions brewing beneath the surface. "Why would you believe in my word?" I asked, lifting an eyebrow, half-expecting him to laugh at the absurdity of trusting me.But he didn’t laugh.Instead, he offered a small, genuin

  • THE DEVIL'S POSSESSION   Chapter Twenty Six: I'll Trust Your Word

The hallway of Ronan’s company felt like walking through a corridor of royalty. The air itself held a kind of cold sophistication that clung to my skin like velvet laced with ice. Polished marble floors reflected the sparkling chandeliers above, casting prismatic light across the space like the walls themselves were made of diamonds. Everything screamed opulence—the kind of wealth that didn’t need to announce itself, but you felt it in your bones, like pressure in the air before a storm.Employees lined the hallway like obedient shadows.“Good morning, Boss. Good morning, Ma’am,” they echoed one after the other, their voices polite, measured, rehearsed.I forced a small nod in response at first, but after the fifth or sixth greeting, it felt like my neck was about to snap off. I quickly gave up, choosing to mimic Ronan’s cold indifference. He didn’t spare them a single glance—his jaw set, gaze locked forward, and posture screaming authority that needed no acknowledgment. But me? I fel
