The pack grounds still smoldered from the last burst of Blue Fire, a sharp contrast to the deathly quiet that had followed Cassandra’s retreat from Scott’s broken form. The air was thick—not just with smoke, but tension.

Leo rushed to Cassandra’s side the moment she stepped away from the crowd, his expression tight with concern. “You’re bleeding,” he said, reaching for her arm. “The poison—Cassandra, why didn’t you say anything?”

She tilted her head, watching his panic with distant amusement. “Because it doesn’t matter.”

“I know you’re immortal now,” Leo muttered, his jaw clenched. “But that doesn’t mean you’re invincible. Even you shouldn't take hits like that so carelessly.”

She gave a small, indifferent shrug. “I barely felt it.”

Leo ran a hand through his hair in frustration, his other hand still hovering close. “You're so careless.”

“Hmmm,” she agreed softly.

He stared at her, the awe in his eyes tinted with something darker. Longing. Obsession. “You could tear this world apart i

  • THE DISABLED MATE   CHAPTER 37

Scott lunged with a snarl, claws glowing sickly green with Nether poison as they slashed through the air toward Cassandra’s chest. She twisted at the last second, the claws grazing her shoulder instead of landing a fatal blow. Blood spattered across the dirt—but her face didn’t so much as flinch.“Still fast,” she muttered, taking a slow step back. “But sloppy.”Scott landed in a crouch, feral eyes narrowing. “You're not walking away from this, Cassandra. That poison’s already in your blood. You’ll be paralyzed in minutes.”She glanced at the shallow wound on her shoulder and pressed two fingers to it. Red streaks stained her skin. She met his gaze and smirked. “Oh no… I’m doomed.”He didn’t hear the sarcasm—his blood was rushing too fast with the thrill of the kill. “You should’ve stayed gone,” he spat, circling her. “You think you’re something special now? Coming back here like a ghost?”“Funny,” she said, moving with casual grace as if they were sparring, not fighting to the death.

  • THE DISABLED MATE   CHAPTER 36

CASSANDRAStaring at myself in the mirror, I couldn’t help but sigh.My eyes had been burning with blue fire since I heard the news—and not once had the flames dimmed.I could finally see the monster I’d become. And yet, I knew I could kill Scott. Whatever tricks he had up his sleeve, they wouldn’t be enough. I know exactly what kind of man he is—no, what kind of beast. Being half-rogue, he’s barely even human anymore. There’s always been a war inside him: man versus monster. But with instincts ten times stronger than any normal shifter, the beast always wins. It’s like he was born with a split soul—one normal, the other a psychopath drunk on bloodlust. But that’s his curse. He will never be normal. My parents' greatest mistake was taking in the cub of a rogue. And that same damn cub bit the hand that fed it.The memory of what I saw before transforming into the Blue Wolf made fire erupt beneath my skin again. I couldn’t hold it back this time. I looked around, watching as the flames

  • THE DISABLED MATE   CHAPTER 35

LENOX’S POVThanks to Celeste and Carlo, I’m now certain—Cassandra is out there. She’s alive. But then... what was that pain I felt a few months ago? That soul-crushing agony. Even Father was convinced it was the pain of losing a mate.Could it have been something else? Maybe she was in mortal danger—so close to death that it triggered the bond. But that doesn’t make sense. When I almost lost her because of Scott, it wasn’t nearly as intense. So what was it?Could she have... actually died and been revived? But only I could’ve brought her back. Only my blood can do that.Unless someone else found a way.I don’t know anymore. Only Cassandra can answer these questions now. And once I see her again, I’ll make sure she never leaves my side. Ever."Your Highness, what should we do about the video Scott published?" Robin asked, walking a few steps behind me as I strolled through the palace garden.“Nothing,” I replied flatly."If Cassandra sees it, she'll surface soon enough—blinded by rage

  • THE DISABLED MATE   CHAPTER 34

CASSANDRA'S POVI paced the length of my room, my bare feet silent against the cold floor. A knock came at the door.I hesitated—not out of fear, but because of what Celeste and Carlo had said. They don’t know me. So why are Amelia and Leo so sure I’ve been at the palace this whole time? Everything spiraled out of control during the attempted kidnapping, and yet... they claimed to have failed for some reason.None of this adds up.I need answers before I lose control. When a Blue Wolf gets desperate for truth, the urge to kill intensifies. And right now, I’m dangerously close to letting it take over. I’ve been fighting this bloodlust since the day we burned our hideout to the ground, but it’s getting harder with each passing hour.My eyes have glowed with blue fire ever since. The questions keep piling up, and it’s taking everything I have to not spill blood just to silence the chaos in my mind. Why do shifters romanticize becoming the Blue Wolf? It's not a gift—it's a curse. It deman

  • THE DISABLED MATE   CHAPTER 33

SCOTT'S POVI was heading back to the packhouse after a long run when a kid stepped into my path.He wore baggy pants and a loose hoodie, a lollipop stuck between his lips. At first glance, he looked adorable—cute enough that a stranger might be tempted to pinch his cheeks. Innocent. Harmless. But anyone who actually knew who he was wouldn’t dare look him in the eye, let alone touch him. This kid was second only to Robin—Prince Lenox’s right-hand man. While Robin handled the dirty work behind the scenes, this kid specialized in a more lethal kind of dirty. He was the one the Prince sent when someone needed to disappear. A silent ghost, a weapon in human skin.He was an assassin. And if the rumors were true, he'd killed hundreds—maybe even thousands—over the years. Now he was sitting across from me in my office, legs casually crossed, lollipop still in his mouth. And despite being the Alpha of this pack, I couldn’t stop the chill running down my spine. Because he wasn’t just a killer—h
