Haelyn's POV

"So if you think that you're ready to face Alpha Roy, then I must expel that thought from your head, girl."

I hissed and snapped at him. "Don't call me girl. Not here."

He didn't seem bothered about that. But it was quite relaxing a bit to find out that someone who had saved me years ago was sitting right in front of me. Which meant that there were things he could tell me.

"So you tried to kill him that night.."

"And failed," he replied, cutting me off.

The way he said it, with much emphasis on those two words, the man was passing a message to me. He could as well have said 'keep off'.

"So you think I will fail, don't you?" I said.

"I don't think you will fail. I know that you will."

"And why is that?"

"You are young and this is one of the mistakes that young people like you make all the damn time."

"What mistake am I making now that's being made all the damn time?" I asked, playing along with his words.

"Thinking you can do anything if you put your mind to it. But in this case, it doesn't work that way."

"I see."

"You should also see that you are untrained and those men you're fighting won't take it easy on you. Most of them are better."

"You think I don't know that already?"

"One round isn't enough to put that into your head. What do you even call yourself in there?"

"Bernard," I said, deepening my voice. "What do you call yourself?"

He leaned back in his chair, hands folded across his chest, eyes looking at me. I fought the urge to smile at him. If it was a battle of words, then I'd be sure to win. "People call me Clawed Crescent."

"Why?" I asked, smiling wide. "Because of how you look?"

"A lot of people are named because of how they look so I don't see how mine is hilarious to you."

"I don't really know how a Bernard looks like though," I said.

In response, he slammed his hand on the table, and my plate jumped an inch. I pushed my chair backwards and got up, my hands posed in a fighting stance. Eyes turned towards us as the whole place grew quiet. Everyone was waiting to see what would happen.

Someone said, "Take whatever that is outside on the streets.".

"Fight is over for the little man already," someone said and the rest guffawed.

"Sit down and let me tell you a story, little Haelyn," Clawed Crescent said, relaxing again. "Your mother cane to me one night and told me that she was sacred of you both. Said she wanted a way to keep you safe if anything should happen to her."

"I had no idea my mother didn't feel safe in her own house.'

"No, you didn't. You were busy running around the gardens plucking roses and pinning them to your hair."

"What was I supposed to be doing? Picking poisons in the forest to spike my father's drink?"

He said nothing to that and went on. "I really didn't have anything to tell her other than taking you with her when she left."

"You told my mother to run away, just like you later did when you faced my father."

"That man isn't your father, Haelyn."

"It's Bernard," I corrected him for the second time. "Call me that again and I'll walk out."

"I'm not calling you that," he spat out.

"Then keep the H name out of your mouth."

He looked at my plate. "You need more?"

I nodded. Clawed called on the waiter and refilled my plate. I didn't offer any gratitude. Would have done it myself anyway.

"A man who killed your mother just because Luna Freya wanted it to happen isn't a father to you," he explained.

"You think I don't know that? Why the hell do you think I want him dead?"

"If you really want him dead, then you wouldn't attach emotional feelings. You could freeze the moment you get that chance. And Roy would take that opportunity to kill you. Calling him father is an emotional attachment."

I said nothing.

"There is still a lot you have to learn, little warrior. And that which you don't know about war and honor will get you killed."

"Well, I have survived all these years on my own, sir. And you weren't there to preach to me but I was fine. Without you, I'd still do just fine."

He watched me like a hawk as I finished my meal. Back then, I had no idea how he looked like. Was still young and scared that the face never did register to me.

"You know, I'm surprised that after all these years, Alpha Roy still hasn't found you in Silver. Why is that?"

He said nothing and I just shrugged.

The waiter came to pick the plate. I gave her money for the first meal, then pointed a finger in Cresent's direction. "He's paying for my second plate."

"Sir?" she prompted.

Clawed handed her two coins, one of which was a tip.

I got to my feet. "Nice meeting you, sir. Now I need to get out of here."

He handed me a purse filled with money. I didn't say no. "Better this than stealing from traders. If you're caught your cover's blown."

He had a point there. "Thank you."

Clawed pushed his chair backwards and walked out. I waited for a while. My thoughts were all over the place. So he'd been watching me, and he was the one who had sent those three fools to my hideout.

No wonder they knew about it. Because he probably knew I went there back when I was still young. It was uncomfortable finding out I was being watched by a man years back, even though his motives were just to keep me safe.

Wondering what else my mother had told him, I stepped out of the place and there they were.

Waiting for me.

  • THE FEMALE ALPHA IN DISGUISE   Besting The Elite

Haelyn's POVI left his broken hand at once and walked to the other end of the barricade. Then I sprinted across and used my foot to bring my opponent's face to the floor.Since there was no weapon to be provided, I'd have to shut him down.I waited for the barricade to unlock but the soldiers made no move to do so.I looked up and Master Riven walked back to the hosts. I thought he was going to Roy's side but he changed direction and went straight to Freya. The crowd clapped for me when I kicked my opponent in the face but they soon became restless. I heard a lot of them clamoring for a weapon to be thrown into the battleground. I couldn't blame them anyway. What they had come to see was blood and they wanted that need to be satisfied. But what the hell was happening? Had Freya seen the woman in me and wanted to ask Riven who the hell I was? Or had I been recognized? I quickly turned my face away from that spot. Though the slits, I saw Weston waving at me. There was a wicked smile

  • THE FEMALE ALPHA IN DISGUISE   Loyalties

Freya's POVI laughed. And it took a while before it finally died down. What did I feel when she said that? Just humor."Here you are talking about his majesty and how there haven't been any talks about his deposition. Not you're telling me to let him go?""If you feel that he is getting out of hand, my lady. Then you might have to find a replacement. You have been showing the hand of mercy for a long time now. Maybe it is time to show the other hand of judgment."She had her way with words, that woman. Knew how to use it in a paradoxical manner that impressed me. But I didn't like the sound of what she wanted me to do. She wasn't being so direct about it but I could tell that it was a direct conception.Roy might think he owned the throne just because he was the one sitting on it. But I was the one who pulled the strings and kept him there. Half of the advisers on his council reported to me so I was always kept in the loop about the things he did. Most of them, he never even asked my

  • THE FEMALE ALPHA IN DISGUISE   Dalva

Freya's POVI stepped out of bed that morning, my mind still on the information which had been brought to my hearing by one of my maids.According to her, one of the coincilwomen had been fired by his majesty. I asked her what the reason was and she simply told me it was a matter that I should take it up with his majesty.I dismissed her and decided to wait until the morrow before bringing up the topic.First thing I did was plant a kiss on his cheek letting him think that I hadn't woken up on the wrong side of the bed. Then I got off and headed for the window without pulling on my afterdress just yet.One thing I had learned about Roy over the years was that he listened to me and did what I usually wanted him to because of my body .He was so much obsessed with my figure that he always looked forward to heavenly fun in bed. And I never disappointed him. It was a powerful way to get him under my thumb. Sex and sex and more sex was the therapy to a man like Alpha Roy. So I kept it comi

  • THE FEMALE ALPHA IN DISGUISE   Handicapped

Haelyn's POV"Tell me!" I yelled at him."Alright, alright. As compared to your last fight with me, the person you're fighting with won't give you much of a problem. Heard he broke his arm in the the last fight and it still hasn't healed properly."I breathed a sigh of relief, unable to hide it. Weston saw it and gave me a pitiful look. He was messing with my head. Like some bad demon riding on my shoulders in the night and whispering bad things that could happen to me anytime soon."Get out, Weston.""Scratch my back and I scratch yours. Anyway, I'll tell you what I need you to do when you walk out later."I scoffed. "And what makes you think I'll be the one walking out alive? What if I die in there?" "Your opponent has a broken arm and to use a weapon effectively, he needs the strength of both hands.""I don't believe that." "Well, believe it, man. Because it is the truth. I've been trained well enough to understand it. So it's going to be easy peasy for you. Why would you even l

  • THE FEMALE ALPHA IN DISGUISE   Unusual Fight

Haelyn's POV"Thirteens!"The fighters went into the battle place and got ready to go at themselves. The signal was given and the fight began.I watched the ground instead. It was stained with blood of the fighters who had been in there already. And half of them hadn't come out alive.Killian had it easy with his opponent and he'd be strong enough for the next fight. I guessed it would be the next day, since everything was gamed and the sponsors wouldn't want to give a resting spell to the fighters. The blows fell but I wasn't even looking. My mind was elsewhere. I was trying as hard as I could to shut out the screams and the grunts of pain in of my head.I had never been so close to brutal fights, and it was having a negative effect on me. Seemed like I was better off on the battleground trying to survive than being out on the sidelines watching it all unfold. The weapon fell from the hand of Master Riven. It was a tomahawk which had a chain attached to it. At the end of this chain,

  • THE FEMALE ALPHA IN DISGUISE   Personalities

Haelyn's POVWhat had just happened?Killian had operated that shield as if he was used to it. Even I had never seen that shield used before in training. Maybe they kept it for other purposes that clearly defined war."Our disgraced warrior wins!" Riven announced."Uh oh," Weston said. "You hear that?""I heard that. What the hell is Ruben talking about?"Weston turned to me with a smirk. "Seems like Killian used to be one of them. Elite warriors."That hit me hard. "So that means he's from Silver Pack," I said."Yeah. We finally have an elite soldier amongst us."Yeah, I'd been hoping that I'd get the opportunity to fight with one of them. Just to show the rest that they could be beaten. To prove that they weren't that invincible as they saw themselves to be.Killian and Riven were locked in a stare for some moments before the soldiers came in and pushed him out of the battleground. I felt that enmity between the two. Seemed like Killian had a past that wasn't too different from mine
