Haelyn's POV

I didn't know them per se but from the looks on their faces and the marks on their arms, I could tell they were from the Alpha Trials. Ragged-looking men eyeing me as if I was their prey.

They approached me but I didn't back down. "I'm no threat to you, fellows," I said.

The one in front spoke, "We know that. And that's why we are offering you an alliance."

"Alliance?"

"Yes."

"With who?"

"With us, of course. Before we came here, we overheard some of the men talking about stabbing people in their sleep. Trust me, you wouldn't stand a chance of any of them straddled you."

I counted them. They were four and wanted to add me to the score. "Why did you choose me?"

"We could keep a lookout for each other, you know. Everyone for the Alpha Trials deserves to fight, and if they're dying, it should be on that battleground. Not in some mess hall used by egotistical elite soldiers."

I had to admit the men had a point there. But I didn't want to get too close to any of them. Someone might get too curious and find out that I'm not whom I claimed to be.

An imposter.

A liar and a cheat.

Well, I wasn't sure about being a cheat. I mean, if a girl like me was putting other men down, then that was an unfair disadvantage, not the other way round.

"One more thing," said the one in front. He was their spokesperson. I wondered if he gave himself that position or if the others voted.

"And what's that?" I asked.

"We've got to stick together at all times."

"Why?"

He laughed, and they followed suit. I was the only one who didn't find that funny.

"We have been talking and it seems like you haven't been listening. You know what? Have it your way. We don't need you anymore. Since you can't understand what needs to be done I doubt you'd be able to take responsibility for the rest of us."

They walked past me into the bar, the last one found it nice to jam his shoulder against mine.

Feigning ignorance was intentional. I wanted to make them feel like I wasn't interested in their little union. My plan would backfire and I wasn't ready for that.

I went back to watch the elite soldiers train. Realized I had mastered almost all their moves. It was still difficult to find out what Master Riven really knew. He preferred to watch the men fight most times and only came in at the last minute to show off.

And this never lasted.

When they were done, I looked at the palace until the sun began to set. I worked in my head how I would be able to steal in and get my revenge. It was much faster that way. But I remembered what Crescent had told me about his own ordeal. No Alpha King would be that easy to take down.

Even I who prided myself on being good, took some blows from Weston. How would I fare with someone like Alpha Roy, the most dangerous ruler of the packs?

Crescent had been lucky to get out alive and how he had kept himself hidden from Roy was a mystery of its own. I concluded that if I wanted to do just that, then I'd have to find him.

It didn't take me too long to find a man like that. I just had to walk a couple of distance away from Silver Pack, as if I were leaving, and he'd follow. The man was a watcher.

I caught him atop a tree, hiding behind some branches, and he hadn't even made a sound.

"You can come down now, I see you," I hollered.

The next second he was standing beside me, no sound again. I stepped back. "How did you do that?"

"You have been on your own for ten years, just as I have. Didn't you learn anything about your abilities?"

"I haven't even gone through my first transformation yet, Mister Crescent."

He grunted. "That doesn't matter."

"What does?"

"Survival. You just might get a chance at survival if you know how to move with the wind instead of howling at it."

"Nice choice of words. Now you have me all confused."

"Tell me something. Why did you refuse those four men back there?"

"They'd get overly curious in the long run."

"And do you blame them?"

"See eventually, I would have to kill them so what difference does it make?"

He turned his back on me and looked towards the horizon of the setting sun. "You need to take one step at a time. Finish the tasks that are before you before moving on to the ones that will come later. That way, you get to focus easier. An alliance with them will keep you alive for now. Later, you'd find your way out of it."

I sighed then shrugged. "Like I said earlier, I don't mind being alone. Been a lone wolf most of my life."

"Hiding out in the forest where no one will find you," Crescent said, and turned to face me again. "There is no place to hide in the Alpha Trials." He walked a slow circle around me as he talked. "Those men, bodies bare, chest and manhood on display, washing off the blood and the sweat. But there you are, afraid to show them what's underneath. Afraid to lose the only chance you have to get close to Roy. So what would you do?"

"Avoid bathing in the mess hall," I said.

"And where would you bathe? Or would you rather stink?"

"I'd pay to use a bathroom in town," I said.

"Which means more stealing," Crescent said and shook his head. "You are a nut case."

That made me smile. Yeah, I had grown stubborn all those years. It was expected. I was alone and had no one to fetch my needs.

Crescent held out his hand.

"What is this?" I asked.

"Alliance," he said. "I'm not going to be curious and you won't have to kill me. Shake my hand or leave it, what do you say ?"

  • THE FEMALE ALPHA IN DISGUISE   Besting The Elite

Haelyn's POVI left his broken hand at once and walked to the other end of the barricade. Then I sprinted across and used my foot to bring my opponent's face to the floor.Since there was no weapon to be provided, I'd have to shut him down.I waited for the barricade to unlock but the soldiers made no move to do so.I looked up and Master Riven walked back to the hosts. I thought he was going to Roy's side but he changed direction and went straight to Freya. The crowd clapped for me when I kicked my opponent in the face but they soon became restless. I heard a lot of them clamoring for a weapon to be thrown into the battleground. I couldn't blame them anyway. What they had come to see was blood and they wanted that need to be satisfied. But what the hell was happening? Had Freya seen the woman in me and wanted to ask Riven who the hell I was? Or had I been recognized? I quickly turned my face away from that spot. Though the slits, I saw Weston waving at me. There was a wicked smile

  • THE FEMALE ALPHA IN DISGUISE   Loyalties

Freya's POVI laughed. And it took a while before it finally died down. What did I feel when she said that? Just humor."Here you are talking about his majesty and how there haven't been any talks about his deposition. Not you're telling me to let him go?""If you feel that he is getting out of hand, my lady. Then you might have to find a replacement. You have been showing the hand of mercy for a long time now. Maybe it is time to show the other hand of judgment."She had her way with words, that woman. Knew how to use it in a paradoxical manner that impressed me. But I didn't like the sound of what she wanted me to do. She wasn't being so direct about it but I could tell that it was a direct conception.Roy might think he owned the throne just because he was the one sitting on it. But I was the one who pulled the strings and kept him there. Half of the advisers on his council reported to me so I was always kept in the loop about the things he did. Most of them, he never even asked my

  • THE FEMALE ALPHA IN DISGUISE   Dalva

Freya's POVI stepped out of bed that morning, my mind still on the information which had been brought to my hearing by one of my maids.According to her, one of the coincilwomen had been fired by his majesty. I asked her what the reason was and she simply told me it was a matter that I should take it up with his majesty.I dismissed her and decided to wait until the morrow before bringing up the topic.First thing I did was plant a kiss on his cheek letting him think that I hadn't woken up on the wrong side of the bed. Then I got off and headed for the window without pulling on my afterdress just yet.One thing I had learned about Roy over the years was that he listened to me and did what I usually wanted him to because of my body .He was so much obsessed with my figure that he always looked forward to heavenly fun in bed. And I never disappointed him. It was a powerful way to get him under my thumb. Sex and sex and more sex was the therapy to a man like Alpha Roy. So I kept it comi

  • THE FEMALE ALPHA IN DISGUISE   Handicapped

Haelyn's POV"Tell me!" I yelled at him."Alright, alright. As compared to your last fight with me, the person you're fighting with won't give you much of a problem. Heard he broke his arm in the the last fight and it still hasn't healed properly."I breathed a sigh of relief, unable to hide it. Weston saw it and gave me a pitiful look. He was messing with my head. Like some bad demon riding on my shoulders in the night and whispering bad things that could happen to me anytime soon."Get out, Weston.""Scratch my back and I scratch yours. Anyway, I'll tell you what I need you to do when you walk out later."I scoffed. "And what makes you think I'll be the one walking out alive? What if I die in there?" "Your opponent has a broken arm and to use a weapon effectively, he needs the strength of both hands.""I don't believe that." "Well, believe it, man. Because it is the truth. I've been trained well enough to understand it. So it's going to be easy peasy for you. Why would you even l

  • THE FEMALE ALPHA IN DISGUISE   Unusual Fight

Haelyn's POV"Thirteens!"The fighters went into the battle place and got ready to go at themselves. The signal was given and the fight began.I watched the ground instead. It was stained with blood of the fighters who had been in there already. And half of them hadn't come out alive.Killian had it easy with his opponent and he'd be strong enough for the next fight. I guessed it would be the next day, since everything was gamed and the sponsors wouldn't want to give a resting spell to the fighters. The blows fell but I wasn't even looking. My mind was elsewhere. I was trying as hard as I could to shut out the screams and the grunts of pain in of my head.I had never been so close to brutal fights, and it was having a negative effect on me. Seemed like I was better off on the battleground trying to survive than being out on the sidelines watching it all unfold. The weapon fell from the hand of Master Riven. It was a tomahawk which had a chain attached to it. At the end of this chain,

  • THE FEMALE ALPHA IN DISGUISE   Personalities

Haelyn's POVWhat had just happened?Killian had operated that shield as if he was used to it. Even I had never seen that shield used before in training. Maybe they kept it for other purposes that clearly defined war."Our disgraced warrior wins!" Riven announced."Uh oh," Weston said. "You hear that?""I heard that. What the hell is Ruben talking about?"Weston turned to me with a smirk. "Seems like Killian used to be one of them. Elite warriors."That hit me hard. "So that means he's from Silver Pack," I said."Yeah. We finally have an elite soldier amongst us."Yeah, I'd been hoping that I'd get the opportunity to fight with one of them. Just to show the rest that they could be beaten. To prove that they weren't that invincible as they saw themselves to be.Killian and Riven were locked in a stare for some moments before the soldiers came in and pushed him out of the battleground. I felt that enmity between the two. Seemed like Killian had a past that wasn't too different from mine
