Haelyn's POV

I could not move.

There he was, Alpha Roy. The man who had made my childhood worse than it should have been. The man who had never really seen me as his own child. After all, he had my mother beheaded so what the hell would I even mean to a man like him?

Alpha Roy looked more older than the last time I had seen him. His beard was fuller and seemed to have this gray hue attached. He looked more huge, and I took note of the way his body filled his clothes. There was still that ego that never seemed to wash itself clean. I wondered where his better half was.

He was having a discussion with Master Riven. I took two steps forward before I got sighted. Two elite guards approached me, completely cutting me off.

"Stop there," said one of them, his hand held out and the other on his blade.

I stopped but my eyes didn't leave Alpha Roy. I noticed they followed my gaze and turned back at me.

"Oh, you can look all you want but you probably won't get his seat," one of them said. "And we can't let you go further here. So turn around and head the other way."

There was a lot of bitterness in my heart. And if I could count it, then I didn't think I'd ever get to the last one. Seeing him standing so close brought back all those bad memories. Even the ones I had tried so hard to forget.

He was the reason I had been forced out of the palace. If the soldiers had kept me in that dungeon, I'd probably be his slave for the rest of my life. And what the hell would be my gain?

I'd grow up not as the Alpha's daughter, but as the Alpha's slave. That was touching but no one would care about it anyway.

The other guard who hadn't spoken a word began to pull his axe out. Noise erupted from behind me as some of the fighters from the mess hall came out. They caught Master Riven's attention and he promptly ushered Alpha Roy away. I had to watch him go without doing anything.

"Isn't that Alpha Roy?" someone asked.

"That's the man," someone confirmed.

I turned around and headed straight for the gate. It was still light enough to get to my hideout. They gave me a mark that bore the design of silver pack on my left arm: a howling wolf flanked by the crescent moon with three claws on it.

I didn't have any money on me so I decided to steal some, because I was pretty sure I would need it soon. With those guards, a bribe would go a long way in helping me. And I had a good feeling that other fighters would be looking to do same. It was only a matter of time before the corruption was full blown.

I avoided the street I had been to and entered a new one, this one filled with more people.

The traders here sold a lot of clothes and mats, handing from up to down which made it easy for someone like me to hide behind them and make my escape.

Silver Pack wasn't known for stealing. Alpha Roy had given his people some reason to feel safe, after making the other packs terrified of Silver Pack. So everyone carried their purses on their belts, completely lackadaisical and unconcerned.

I collided softly with a couple of them and stole three purses, each half filled, then headed straight for somewhere I could eat.

I ordered a meal of porridge which came with a cup of water, and dug in.

"You're back," announced a coarse voice.

I looked up and saw the face of a man I had never seen before. I mean, I was sure of it. Three long scars ran from his left cheek down to his neck. Wondered what sort of fight he had gotten himself into. Well, if he survived it, then he must be a warrior.

"Are you talking to me?" I wanted to know.

"As a matter of fact, I am."

"Who are you?" I asked.

He sat down on a chair put his hands on the table, interlocked his fingers, as if to prove that he wasn't trying to pose as a threat. All men were threats to me, whether they showed their empty hands or not.

"You don't remember me, do you?" he asked.

I looked at his face, covered with a hood. His eyes were orange and his jaw was shaven. If I had known someone like him in the palace sometime again, then I wouldn't have forgotten.

"Looks like you have me mistaken for someone else, sir."

"I never forget a face," he said, sounding so sure of himself.

"Neither do I and I have no idea who the hell you are."

"Oh, I'm pretty sure you won't remember me. But one question, do you remember the faces of those you steal from?"

"I have no idea what you're talking about," I said, and began to eat faster. At least, I needed to finish what I spent money on before I escaped. Someone had finally caught me.

"I'm pretty sure that you do. I have been watching you."

"Sounds like you are a pervert that I need to get rid of," I challenged, locking eyes.

He smiled. "Oh, I don't do that."

"Maybe you were the one who sent those killers after me?"

"Maybe," he said.

I dropped my spoon and stopped eating. "Why would you do that?"

"You're in the wrong place and at the wrong time," he said.

"And what the hell is that supposed to mean? You tell me where to be and when to be there?"

"I'm telling you that you are making a mistake going into the Alpha Trials. You won't survive it."

"I survived the first round of fighting, man."

"It will only get bloodier," he said, leaned forward and said sotto voce, "And even though you call me a man, you're no man."

My heart went pit-a-pat. "What?" I said.

"Well, I would never forget the face of the little girl I saved years ago from the dungeons."

  • THE FEMALE ALPHA IN DISGUISE   Besting The Elite

Haelyn's POVI left his broken hand at once and walked to the other end of the barricade. Then I sprinted across and used my foot to bring my opponent's face to the floor.Since there was no weapon to be provided, I'd have to shut him down.I waited for the barricade to unlock but the soldiers made no move to do so.I looked up and Master Riven walked back to the hosts. I thought he was going to Roy's side but he changed direction and went straight to Freya. The crowd clapped for me when I kicked my opponent in the face but they soon became restless. I heard a lot of them clamoring for a weapon to be thrown into the battleground. I couldn't blame them anyway. What they had come to see was blood and they wanted that need to be satisfied. But what the hell was happening? Had Freya seen the woman in me and wanted to ask Riven who the hell I was? Or had I been recognized? I quickly turned my face away from that spot. Though the slits, I saw Weston waving at me. There was a wicked smile

  • THE FEMALE ALPHA IN DISGUISE   Loyalties

Freya's POVI laughed. And it took a while before it finally died down. What did I feel when she said that? Just humor."Here you are talking about his majesty and how there haven't been any talks about his deposition. Not you're telling me to let him go?""If you feel that he is getting out of hand, my lady. Then you might have to find a replacement. You have been showing the hand of mercy for a long time now. Maybe it is time to show the other hand of judgment."She had her way with words, that woman. Knew how to use it in a paradoxical manner that impressed me. But I didn't like the sound of what she wanted me to do. She wasn't being so direct about it but I could tell that it was a direct conception.Roy might think he owned the throne just because he was the one sitting on it. But I was the one who pulled the strings and kept him there. Half of the advisers on his council reported to me so I was always kept in the loop about the things he did. Most of them, he never even asked my

  • THE FEMALE ALPHA IN DISGUISE   Dalva

Freya's POVI stepped out of bed that morning, my mind still on the information which had been brought to my hearing by one of my maids.According to her, one of the coincilwomen had been fired by his majesty. I asked her what the reason was and she simply told me it was a matter that I should take it up with his majesty.I dismissed her and decided to wait until the morrow before bringing up the topic.First thing I did was plant a kiss on his cheek letting him think that I hadn't woken up on the wrong side of the bed. Then I got off and headed for the window without pulling on my afterdress just yet.One thing I had learned about Roy over the years was that he listened to me and did what I usually wanted him to because of my body .He was so much obsessed with my figure that he always looked forward to heavenly fun in bed. And I never disappointed him. It was a powerful way to get him under my thumb. Sex and sex and more sex was the therapy to a man like Alpha Roy. So I kept it comi

  • THE FEMALE ALPHA IN DISGUISE   Handicapped

Haelyn's POV"Tell me!" I yelled at him."Alright, alright. As compared to your last fight with me, the person you're fighting with won't give you much of a problem. Heard he broke his arm in the the last fight and it still hasn't healed properly."I breathed a sigh of relief, unable to hide it. Weston saw it and gave me a pitiful look. He was messing with my head. Like some bad demon riding on my shoulders in the night and whispering bad things that could happen to me anytime soon."Get out, Weston.""Scratch my back and I scratch yours. Anyway, I'll tell you what I need you to do when you walk out later."I scoffed. "And what makes you think I'll be the one walking out alive? What if I die in there?" "Your opponent has a broken arm and to use a weapon effectively, he needs the strength of both hands.""I don't believe that." "Well, believe it, man. Because it is the truth. I've been trained well enough to understand it. So it's going to be easy peasy for you. Why would you even l

  • THE FEMALE ALPHA IN DISGUISE   Unusual Fight

Haelyn's POV"Thirteens!"The fighters went into the battle place and got ready to go at themselves. The signal was given and the fight began.I watched the ground instead. It was stained with blood of the fighters who had been in there already. And half of them hadn't come out alive.Killian had it easy with his opponent and he'd be strong enough for the next fight. I guessed it would be the next day, since everything was gamed and the sponsors wouldn't want to give a resting spell to the fighters. The blows fell but I wasn't even looking. My mind was elsewhere. I was trying as hard as I could to shut out the screams and the grunts of pain in of my head.I had never been so close to brutal fights, and it was having a negative effect on me. Seemed like I was better off on the battleground trying to survive than being out on the sidelines watching it all unfold. The weapon fell from the hand of Master Riven. It was a tomahawk which had a chain attached to it. At the end of this chain,

  • THE FEMALE ALPHA IN DISGUISE   Personalities

Haelyn's POVWhat had just happened?Killian had operated that shield as if he was used to it. Even I had never seen that shield used before in training. Maybe they kept it for other purposes that clearly defined war."Our disgraced warrior wins!" Riven announced."Uh oh," Weston said. "You hear that?""I heard that. What the hell is Ruben talking about?"Weston turned to me with a smirk. "Seems like Killian used to be one of them. Elite warriors."That hit me hard. "So that means he's from Silver Pack," I said."Yeah. We finally have an elite soldier amongst us."Yeah, I'd been hoping that I'd get the opportunity to fight with one of them. Just to show the rest that they could be beaten. To prove that they weren't that invincible as they saw themselves to be.Killian and Riven were locked in a stare for some moments before the soldiers came in and pushed him out of the battleground. I felt that enmity between the two. Seemed like Killian had a past that wasn't too different from mine
