LOGINPICTURE: LUKE, GENEVIEVE'S BEST FRIEND
"Genevieve?" I heard my father call me, from not too far away I closed the cap on my berry lip balm, stuffing it in my pocket, before walking to the main part of our shop. "Yeah?" 1 smiled when I saw both my fathers cuddled on the black love seat against the wall. "Don't stay too long at the hospital tonight. Your dad smelled a faint trace of a Rogue near the edge of the forest, during patrol." Spencer, my taller dad stated, looking serious. "We don't want you to get hurt." My other dad, Nick, said. My parents were the Betas in our pack and I was the only human, yet the pack had accepted me as their own. We were members of the Red Moon pack, located in Miami. "OK. I should be done around eight and then I'll come back here, so we can drive home together." l agreed, sliding my bag over my shoulder. They both nodded afterwards planting a chaste kiss on my forehead. "Bye, Love you." I called out as I left the shop and made my way to the packs hospital for children. My fathers owned the shop and were the best herbs specialists for supernaturals, although we did get a few human customers too. The small brick building was warmly decorated, with many candles and a nice fire place. The main part was a large room, almost like a lounge and the back part is were we kept the herbs and other things. I spent most of my time there, if I wasn't at the children's hospital. The kids there aged from infants to teens, they were all werewolves and most of them were in our pack. There weren't many kids because Werewolves had good health, but they did get the occasional flu. I often spent a few hours there reading stories, coloring or just simply hanging out with them. It was Tuesday, which meant Luke would be there too. Luke, my friend, was the second son of the alpha. He didn't want to be a fighter in the pack, resulting in him getting a job at the local fire station but he still made time to come to the hospital. *** "Luke can you tell us the story about the bad wolf?" Alex, a ten year old boy asked, grinning from ear to ear. Every supernatural has heard this story or another version, but it still had the same outcome. The kids were always scared after hearing the scary story of the bad wolf. Yet they seemed to love the thrill and the excitement they got from hearing about this man. Luke chuckled at the children's anticipation as a few gathered around Luke and used their puppy eyes on him. I rolled my own eyes at Luke's unsure face, when we both knew he loved to tell this story. "l guess this one time won't hurt. Everybody comfortable?" The children built a circle around Luke, one girl named Lily pulling me down into the circle too. Once everyone was ready, Luke began with a mischievous grin on his face. "Many years ago in Europe, the Werewolf Princess was in love with a vampire. She didn't listen to her parents and neither did the vampire. They thought they were in love." The boys scrunched up their face at the mention of love, and the girls had a look of awe on their face. "The Princess and the Vampire wished fora child, so they visited a witch who made it possible. But, when Princess Caroline gave birth to the young boy, she and the Vampire were disappointed. The baby was cold and pale but it had a heartbeat. When the child grew up, it was mean to others and showed signs of weird powers that nobody could explain. Caroline and the Vampire wished to have a normal child either a Wolf or Vampire but not both, not a Hybrid." "The teenage boy was furious when he learned that he was different. He attacked his mother, killing her and the same with his father. He hates everyone and is cruel, like no one else. It is expected that he has no Soul Mate because he has no heart. He goes by the name The Hybrid and now lives hidden.!" I had goosebumps by the end of the story. I can't imagine meeting him, someone so cold. The story always gave me the chills. I even had nightmares up to the age of fifteen. I know what your thinking but don't judge. I had heard a more nasty version of the Hybrid. Luke smirked at me, while giving all the boys in the room a high five. I stuck my tongue out, before getting up and going to color with a few of the girls. I was about two minutes away from the shop, when I seen Alpha Hall and his Mate, Beatrice, the Luna. The older couple managed to catch my attention more than once. It was obvious they were mates, although if they were human, I still think they'd be together. Their eyes always glowed if they were around each other but that's how it always was with mates. With Vampires it was the same deal. when they saw their soul mates. Beatrice waved at me, a friendly smile on her pale face. I returned the gesture afterwards being approached by the couple as they crossed the street, glanced down out of respect, avoiding the eye contact with Alpha Hall. I thought it was weird at first, but I grew up with the formalities and it became a routine. "Alpha, Luna." I greet them. "Genevieve, you should get home. You know you shouldn't be out this late without protection." Alpha Hall stated, in a fatherly tone. The Alpha, Luna and my parents were always worried when I was out after sun down without anyone accompanying me. I understood it at first but now I'm twenty four, old enough to be out at night! "It's only eight and I'm meeting my dads at the shop now." I reply, with a tight smile on my face. Alpha Hall nodded in approval before staring at me with expecting eyes. Inmentally rolled my eyes, reaching into my bag and pulled out my small and harmful spray. It consisted of Vervain and Aconitum also known as Wolf's Bane. It was specially mixed by my fathers to protect me from Vampires and Werewolves. The Alpha nodded his head once again, giving my a light pat on the shoulder. Iput the bottle back in my bag, before saying goodbye and walking down to the shop. Walking through the back door of the shop, I see my father Nick hurrying to prepare a potion. Sweat coated his forehead and his face was pale like he'd seen a ghost. It was surprisingly quiet, a little too quiet for my liking. "Genevieve!" He whispered, a surprised look on his face. "What's wrong?" I asked, my voice quiet too. I placed my bag down on a nearby stool, then looking over the herbs that he was mixing. "You need to go homel Take my car keys and hurry! We'll be home soon." He demanded, his hands shook as he poured a red liquid into the pot. "Why?" Iwanted to know why he was acting so worried and scared. "Genevieve" He raised his voice in anger but was abruptly cut off when the door swung open with a loud bang. I turned my head to the red door connecting the main part to the back. My eyes landed on a very tall man with muscular physique. "Genevieve?" he rumbled loudly, his voice practically bouncing off of the walls. That was enough for me to run out the back door and into the dark forest."Genevieve, this is my mother Caroline. Caroline this is Genevieve Van Acker, a very close friend." I shook the tall woman's hand, though I was confused as to why he introduced me as his 'close friend'. His face revealed nothing but I'm sure he felt my confusion through our mate bond. He gave me a quick glance, a small smile on his face before he looked back to his mother. "Where is Julian?" Remy asked his mother after placing a chaste kiss on her cheek. "The Bakery, MJ wasn't feeling to good this morning so we stayed home." Caroline replied, pushing her blonde hair behind her ear. The worry on her face was not be unseen. "I'll go check on her. Is Lily upstairs with her?" Caroline gave a small nod, before voicing out a 'yes'. "I'll be back in just a sec, OK?" I fought against a grin as Remy looked at me with big puppy eyes, like he was asking for my permission. "Sure, I'll stay down here with you if that's OK?" I said, directing the last part at Caroline, who simply smiled. Re
I stood in the bathroom wrapped in a blue towel, brushing my wet hair, when I heard footsteps coming from the other side of the door. I gripped the brush tightly, my body frozen with fear. I held my breath as the footsteps neared towards the bathroom door. I bit the inside of my cheek, praying it was just Remy. The room fell silent, as the footsteps stopped right outside the door. The doorknob rattled before it fell silent again."Genevieve, it's just me. I got you some clothes." He didn't sound angered anymore but stressed."Thank you." I mumbled quietly, picking at the edge of the blue towel. I wasn't mad at him. I was hurt. I heard an almost silent sigh escape his mouth. "I'll just leave them by the door." I heard his footsteps retreat back into the bedroom.I glanced in the slightly fogged mirror, a lone tear rolled done my cheek. I had always been an emotional person. I threw my hair up in a bun and took one last glance in the mirror, before unlocking the door and taking the bag
I could officially cross off free falling from my bucket list. The jump out the window from the third story was high and overall dangerous, yet not for Remy, who brought us safely onto the ground. The shattered glass from the window crushed under our weight as Remy steadied his footing on the concrete. The rush of wind from the fall, had ruffled up my shoulder length hair that now covered my face. Remy pushed back the hair so he could see my face, before pressing his lips hard against mine. Before the kiss could be deepened, Remy hitched me up higher on his waist afterwards sprinting with vampire speed into the nearby alley. By now it was already dark outside and the flickering light from the only lamp post on the corner was all too cliche.Remy released my thighs, letting me slide of the front of his body. With a hand on my shoulder he gently pushed me back to the darkest corner in the alley. He turned around with speed, hunching over in the process, an earth shattering growl release
My eyes widened on their own account before glancing down at his plump, naturally pink lips. My mouth went dry at the thought of kissing him as my palms became sweaty and my heart pounded against my chest. It wasn't like I hadn't kissed him before or didn't want to, it was more the fact of what one kiss from him could lead to. I mean I had to think logically; I was in a nice hotel room, sitting in bed with a shirtless beast, who expected me to kiss him for every answer he gave me. And sense I had a lot of questions to ask, that would mean a lot of kisses. His warm hand on my cheek brought me out of my mental conversation with myself. I took notice that we were now closer than I thought. He hadn't said anything but instead looked at me with a playful smirk carved on his face. The way he had his left eyebrow raised made him even better looking than he already was. I let out a small breath before pulling out of his loose grip, the loss of his body heat not going unnoticed by me. "I do
My heart was pounding in my chest and the air got stuck in my lungs. My head was swarming with questions as I replayed his words again. Will you be good for mommy and daddy and take your medicine? I'll be home really soon. I love you.He had a kid, a daughter to be exact. A cute little girl, yet she wasn't our kid. She was created from Remy and another woman, who wasn't me. Who was her mother and where was she? At least if she was a bitch I could hate her easily. Did all three of them live together? Could I handle him already having a family? Did he expect me to take this information with a smile? I wouldn't be the side chick nor did I come with him to stay hidden. I needed time to think about all of this.I could faintly hear as the girl said her goodbyes before Remy ended the call. I tried creeping back in to the room silently but my body had other plans. I felt the familiar scratchy feeling in the back of my throat just as I brought my hand over my mouth, covering the oncoming coug
So far the five hour drive had been silent, only the occasional cough that came from me. I didn't know if I had my expectations too high or if I was just stressed from the last forty eight hours. But the silence was awkward and the car felt like it was getting smaller by the mile. It almost felt like this was an arranged marriage and I was the bride, who barely knew her husband and was forced to move into his mansion after the wedding. I knew that wasn't the current situation I was in, yet that's kind of how felt. But this was my choice and I wasn't one to change her mind so quickly. After the almost kiss is where the awkwardness started. I hoped I hadn't hurt his feeling by what I said, but it had been the truth. I was human, born a human, grew up as a human and would die as a human. That meaning | wanted to continue living as a human, like I had before. I never expected to have a mate or be the mate of someone else and it wasn't something I really wanted either. I wasn't against i
