LOGINShe was meant to be a surrogate. She became his weakness. Alpha Zane doesn’t believe in fated mates, until a scentless slave carries his child. Now the pack wants her gone. His enemies want her dead. And the Alpha who claimed her swore he’d never love. But fate doesn’t ask permission.

The moment I walked into the study, I froze. The room looked like a storm had torn through it. Books lay scattered across the floor, papers crumpled and abandoned, a chair knocked on its side. The heavy scent in the air made my stomach churn… stale, sharp, unmistakable. My eyes dropped. Used condoms littered the floor. Not even hidden. Just… discarded. Careless. Shameless. I stared at one near my boot, heat rising behind my eyes. “What an Alpha,” I muttered bitterly. “Morally rotten.” I bent down, pinched it between my fingers, and tossed it into the trash bag. My jaw clenched as I straightened. “Come on, Naya,” I told myself quietly. “It’s none of your business. Just clean and leave.” Besides, that was all I was here for. I moved on autopilot, gathering papers, straightening shelves, restoring order to a space that felt permanently corrupted. When everything was finally in place, I slipped on my gloves, grabbed my spray bottle, and began wiping down the massive desk. To steady myself, I hummed. A soft lullaby I didn’t remember learning. It just… lived in me. It always had. Like my body remembered comfort my mind couldn’t place. I was wiping the edge of the desk when… Smack. A sharp slap landed on my butt. I yelped and jumped forward, my heart slamming violently against my ribs. I turned sharply but lost my footing, panic flaring, but before I could hit the floor, a hand gripped around my waist pulling me back against a solid body. I froze. I didn’t need to look. It was Alpha Louise. His presence swallowed the room. His cigar scent invaded my lungs, heavy and suffocating. His hand stayed firm on my waist as if It belonged there. I raised my head slowly. His eyes were already on me. Then it dropped. Followed the line of my chest. I could see lust flash in his eyes. “What was he looking at..?” I thought to myself before my eyes followed his trail. One button on my uniform had come undone. Just enough for him to see the top of my boobs His lips curled. He whistled softly. “Damn,” he murmured. “That view… now I’m curious to know what’s hidden beneath those layers of clothes..” My stomach twisted violently. “Alpha,” I whispered, voice trembling. “Please… let go.” His grip tightened. I tried to step away. But my hip hit the desk. No more space. He smiled. “Nowhere to run today..,” he said softly. Panic surged through me. “Alpha…” I tried again, swallowing hard. The sound of the title seemed to delight him. He threw his head back with a moan. “Oh fuck… Say it again,” he said. “You know I’ve always imagined you moaning my name while I pound that fucking ass of yours” Fear and panic crawled up my spine at the same time. “Please, Alpha” I begged. “If the Luna sees us like this… she’ll kill me.” His fingers lifted my chin, forcing me to meet his eyes. “She won’t touch you,” he said calmly. “Not if you’re under my protection.” My chest heaved. “I can give you everything you’ve ever wanted” he continued. “A better life. Freedom. Comfort. You won’t scrub floors ever again. All I want is this banging body of yours.” His gaze roamed over me, heavy and consuming. “So,” he asked, lips curling. “What do you say.., Will you be my mistress?” My entire body shook. “No, please” I whispered. His expression changed. Just like that. I tried to pull away. He lunged forward. I panicked and drove my knee into his nuts, desperation lending me strength. He roared. Letting me go as his hands to clutch his nuts. I took the initiative and bolted. But he was faster. Pain exploded across my scalp before I could reach the knob as he grabbed my hair and yanked me back. “Fucking..wrong..choice,” he snarled. The slap came fast. White-hot pain cracked across my face as I hit the floor hard. “How dare you!!.. What the fuck makes you think you have a choice in this pack?” he bellowed his hand slashing across my face a second time. I cried out, crawling backward, tears blinding me. “Please!” I sobbed. “Please Alpha… stop!” He dragged me up by my hair. “Do you know how many women In Mystic Falls and beyond that would kill for me to fuck them?” he raged. “And you fucking tell me no?” His hand closed around my throat. And air vanished. I clawed at his wrist, panic flooding my body as my vision blurred. “Al…ph…a…Pl…ease…!” I begged as my strength began to fail me. I was dying. Is this how it ends for me? Then the door cracked open and… “Alpha…!” He froze Then his grip loosened. I collapsed to the floor, gasping violently as air burned back into my lungs. The next thing I hear is a loud growl before the door slamming shut seconds later… “Are you okay?” The voice asked urgently. I looked to see Beta Nathan. But I couldn’t answer. I couldn’t breathe. “Hang in there, I’ve got you…” he pleaded before his strong and careful arms lifted me bridal style as he rushed me out of the study. He sprinted all the way to the Slaves quarters on the west wing of the pack house. Nathan paced as the doctor examined me, his face tight with worry. When my breathing finally steadied, I reached out and caught his hand as he passed. “Thank you Beta,” I whispered. He stopped. “Shhh.. you shouldn’t be speaking” he said gently. “Beta,” I urged. “I am fine, you have to return to the Alpha’s side… I don’t want him punishing you because of me.” “Wait.. what? No way.. I need to…” He argued but I cut him off “Beta, please… I am fine, I promise” I assured him. Reluctantly, he nods and leaves. The doctor finally straightened, returning her stethoscope to her neck “You’re fortunate,” she said. “The claw marks are just superficial, there’s no internal injuries with the prescribed medication the pains and scar should disappear in a couple of weeks…” Relief washed through me. “Also,” she added softly, “you’re quite lucky that no harm came to your pup. You are both in good health.” The word hit me like a blow. “P… pup?” I croaked, trying to sit up. She pressed me back gently. “Don’t move. You and your pup enough rest, I’d advice against any strenuous activity for the mean time” “What pup?” I whispered, panic rising. She looked at me with concern. “You… you didn’t know?” My heart thundered. “You’re pregnant,” she said. “From the look of things, you’re six weeks along.” The world tilted. “I’m What??” I screamed. “H…How…? But… but I’m still a virgin!”Zane’s POVThere was no ground. At least… that was what it felt like.I stood still, but the world beneath me didn’t feel solid. It felt… uncertain. Like one wrong step would send everything collapsing into nothingness. A thick fog wrapped around me from every direction, swallowing distance, swallowing sound, swallowing everything.I couldn’t see more than a few feet ahead.“Hello?”My voice echoed, but not in the way it should have. It didn’t bounce back with clarity…it dissolved, like it had been absorbed into the mist itself. No answer.I turned slowly, my senses straining, Sagio restless beneath my skin. Something wasn’t right. This wasn’t just a place… it felt like a trap. Like I had been pulled into something I didn’t understand.“Can anyone hear me?” I called again, louder this time.Nothing.Not even wind.Just silence so thick it pressed against my ears.My jaw tightened as unease crept in. I wasn’t used to this…to not knowing, to not being able to control what was around me.
Naya’s POVThere was something almost… normal about the morning. For the first time in what felt like forever, I wasn’t waking up to fear, or pain, or the suffocating weight of unanswered questions pressing against my chest. Just the soft clatter of utensils, the low hum of a kettle, and Winnie’s quiet voice filling the small kitchen.I stood by the counter, slicing vegetables, the rhythmic motion of the knife grounding me in a way I hadn’t realized I needed.Winnie leaned against the opposite side, stirring something in a pot, occasionally glancing at me with that soft, watchful look she’d adopted ever since we got here.We talked. About nothing important. About everything. And for a while… I laughed.A real laugh. Not forced. Not hollow. It startled me more than anything else.Because it felt like me.But then… Just like that…it slipped. My hand slowed mid-slice.My mind drifted.Zane.The way his voice used to wrap around my name. Zane’s POVThe room felt wrong. Not just empty… and so wrong.Like something that once breathed life into it had been violently ripped out, leaving behind a hollow shell that echoed too loudly with silence. I stood at the doorway longer than I should have, my hand still gripping the handle as if I could rewind time by simply not letting go.She was gone. Not taken. Not stolen.Gone.My eyes dragged slowly across the room, searching… hoping… expecting to see her curled up on the bed, annoyed that I had left, ready to throw one of her sharp words at me just so I could breathe again. But there was nothing.Just that wall. That fucking wall.“Zane, I need space. Please don’t look for me.”The words weren’t just written… they were carved into me. Each letter jagged, uneven, soaked in red that stood out violently against the sterile white. For a moment, I couldn’t move. I couldn't even think. My body felt like it had forgotten how to function beyond standing there and staring like a man who
Naya’s POVThe road stretched endlessly ahead of us, familiar yet distant, like a memory I wasn’t sure I still belonged to.I sat quietly in the back of the cab, my fingers resting over the gentle curve of my stomach, tracing absent circles as the city blurred past the window. Every turn, every building, every flicker of movement outside felt strangely detached…like I was watching a life I used to live instead of one I was still part of. For a fleeting second, doubt crept in, sharp and unwelcome.Had I made the right choice? My hand stilled over my belly.A soft ache tightened in my chest as my thoughts shifted to the tiny life growing inside me. Would my child understand any of this? Would they one day look at me and question why I walked away from their father… why I chose distance instead of fighting harder to stay? The thought lingered longer than I liked.“My lady… are you okay?”Winnie’s voice pulled me back, gentle but laced with worry. I turned to her, forcing a small smile th
