Chapter Four

The sound of the alarm woke me up. I groaned and hopped out of bed. My body protested against the movement, but I needed to get ready for my meeting at noon because I couldn't give Stephen the chance to humiliate me like he wanted. I always see Soto poking around, trying to find something to report, but too bad for him, I am very careful about covering my tracks. The first thing I did was check on Kelly. When I got to her room, She was still blank from last night's party.

I gently tapped her when she didn't get up. I poured a glass of water on her, and she woke up screaming.

"What was that for?"

"Karma is a bitch, darling, Move your ass before you make me late for work," I replied, then left.

I moved into the kitchen to see what I could cook, but I changed my mind and decided to order in and then use my time to make a hangover soup. I googled hangover soups and found an easy one, so I decided to try it.

The ingredients were onions, Garlic, tomatoes, Parsley, frozen peas, corn, cabbage leaves, carrots, and ground beef.

It turned out better than I expected because I wasn't a pro in the kitchen. I was more like a rookie in it, but at least this is edible, so I didn't have to hear Kelly badmouthing the food I made for her hangover.

Speaking of hangovers, After we pulled out of the club, I was so angry and frustrated, and I think Kelly was too. So we decided to hit the bar beside our house. We had vodka and champagne; you are them. Next, we decided to hit the club at the end of the street. In the past, when we entered clubs, I was the self-aware mom, always making sure that we arrived home safely and that we were I was not drugged in there, but today I just wanted to let loose, to feel the adrenaline of partying without worrying about letting loose of my sadness on the dance floor.

There weren't many people there because of the party of the year, so we got in quickly. I scanned the room, and there wasn't a guy here that I would be interested in even in a thousand years.

So I went to the bar to grab a drink, ignoring all the people making advances at me. I was gulping my drink when Kelly came to the bar too. I knew she was here to convince me to join her like she always does. But lucky for her, I didn't need much convincing to join her today.

"Come on, don't be so choosy for tonight; maybe tonight is the night you can get rid of your virginity and have fun."

"Wait, How dare you suggest a one-night stand to me?" I said, pretending to be appalled by her advice.

"Come on, you know I didn't mean it like that; all I am saying is..."

I burst out laughing, making her stop what she was saying.

"Dollop head," She cursed, then dragged me to the dance floor.

When we came home, we were completely drunk, but I just stayed a bit more sober than Kelly.

I went back to my room to shower and dress up. while I tried not to think about last night because remembering the words that assh*le said to me hurt me a lot. This was surprising because I never cared about what anyone said about me.

I put on an Orange suit, which I knew would look amazing on my pale skin. I wore a pair of black heels to complement them, pulled my hair back into a ponytail, dabbed powder on my face, applied my lip gloss, and stood up to get my spell when my phone started ringing. Stephen the assh*le was calling; I pressed the button for reject and headed downstairs in annoyance.

When I got down to the dining room, Kelly was still not down.

"Kelly, where are you? We are going to be late for work!" I yelled.

I heard soft footsteps on the stairs; Kelly was coming down. She was already dressed but was holding her head.

"Stop shouting, woman; my head is killing me." Kelly motioned me toward her head.

I rolled my eyes and said, "I made a hangover soup for you."

"Thank you," She said, and she went to the pot to get the soup.

"It tastes better than I expected; what is it called?"

"As if you can cook at all, I think it is called a hand burger. Hangover soup; I just saw it online."

Kelly nodded and then served herself generously from the pot.

We ate in silence for a few minutes before Kelly started to steal glances at me.

What?"

Her eyes widened like those of a little kid caught stealing candy. "Should we tell Joe about last night?"

I rolled my eyes. "What Happened last night?"

"Alix, Come on."

"Kelly, Tell me what we should tell him then, something like me and Kells went to a club and a few dumb wolves insulted us like he doesn't have enough on his plate?"

"Nope, not that; let's drop the topic. Who is this guy that you are supposed to convince to invest in your brother?"

"Reagan Maynard, The Lycan Prince."

"Wow, The one they always told us about that has been here since the 19th century?"

"Yes, the one and only. Stephen wants me to show him how much profit we make in the hospital and convince him and his Billionaire family to invest in a new business.

Kelly smirked. "Wow, any chance you might be able to get me his number?"

"You already know I can't do that, But I thought you found a new boyfriend?"

"Please, why would I settle for less when I can have a billionaire?" She said that and winked at me.

"Remind me to tell Mason whenever I see him that what he has isn't a girlfriend, though."

Hey, I am a good girl, but can't you make an exception for me and give me the number?"

"Nope, so stand up, and let's go to work now."

Kelly frowned. "Here goes my dream of boning my Ancestor."

I almost choked while laughing. "Move your ass, So we can leave already."

When we got to the office, everyone was in an uproar. Everyone was running around, making sure that everything was in order. I went to my office to grab a few files and a cup of coffee that Kelly had graciously grabbed for me, then headed towards Joe's office. When I was almost to the office, I spotted Mrs. West coming towards me. I stopped abruptly and tried to run back to my office, but instead, I bumped into something, spilling my coffee. I looked up to see a very handsome man staring at me.

Oh, My God, I am so sorry. I don't mean to do that," I said, then grabbed my handkerchief to clean it off.

"No, don't. For a beautiful woman like you, just your apology is enough."

He smiled at me, and I swear if I wasn't going to a meeting, I would have let him take me anywhere right now.

"Thanks, but I have to go. It was nice meeting you, handsome."

"It's Brian, What is your name?" He called after me.

I turned back and then smirked, "Beautiful."

I could hear the sound of his laughter as I walked to Joe's office.

His assistant just opened the door, and I went in.

He was going through some paperwork when I got inside. He didn't bother to check who it was, but I know that he knew who I was already. Werewolves could decipher smells for about a mile.

"Good morning, Joe."

"Good morning, Alix. Give me a few more minutes to go through this. Prince Reagan will arrive very soon. He isn't the type to be late for anything.

"Okay," I picked up a book and busied myself by going through the pictures, but then I decided to question him.

"How did Stephen get the Lycan's prince's attention out of all the Alphas?"

"What do you mean? Are you trying to insinuate something?"

I smiled and said, "Come on, we both know that Stephen is a dollop head; what does he know about businesses that caught the attention of the royal house?"

"I cannot discuss that with you; Stephen forbade me from doing that."

I scoffed, Fine, but don't come to me hoping I will tell you any secrets either; just so you know, you are not one of my confidants anymore."

His face started changing, and I knew it was only a matter of time before he gave in. Joe was looking for me and was an open book to me sometimes. I pretended to be focused on the book.

"I don't know the details, but I think someone recommended him to Prince Reagan, but don't tell anyone that I told you that."

"Of course, Joe, I am not a baby; whoever recommended him must not be so bright," I said, then burst out laughing. "

Alix, mind your language; don't talk about your brother like that; the walls have ears."

Nope, it doesn't have ears; it is the people you trust that sold you out, Not the poor wall. Anyway, Is it true that Reagan and his mother, father, and little brother are immortals?"

"Yes, where did you see that?"

"I searched through the wolf library; it must be cool to live for centuries without dying, unlike wolves, who live for a few centuries and die. Is this applicable to all lycans? If they don't die, how come there is a new prince? Shouldn't Reagan's great-grandfather still be around? He should still be the king then."

"Alix, I am very busy. If you want to hear more, come for dinner this Saturday at my house. My wife has been asking you for a long time now, but I will answer your question. I heard that all Lycans have a long life span, but only the Royal family is immortal. I also heard that Lycans willingly decide to be put to rest, but none of these theories are confirmed because Lycans are very secretive people; they are like a cult. You can't even question them because they are the rulers. The people who could confirm that for us are all dead anyway." He finished with a forlorn look in his eyes.

"Who are the people who died?"

"I don't know."

Joe!" I shouted.

"Alix he replied, and he started laughing.

I was about to guilt-trip him when his phone started ringing. It was Mrs. West telling him that their car was in front of the building.

Joe dropped the papers that he was trying to work on before I came and sat beside me.

'He does keep the time; it is 11:51 am," I said, looking at my watch.

Joe smiled and then muttered, "Be nice. Remember this is a Lycan, not an ordinary wolf. He could kill you and decide to give Stephen a good deal to shut his mouth. You know him. He wouldn't think twice before accepting."

I rolled my eyes and took a sip from my glass to calm the butterflies in my stomach. Ever since Mrs. West announced that he was here, I was prospering under the A.C., and somehow I was feeling a little hot.

Someone knocked and then opened the door. The butterflies got bigger as the door opened.

Maggie entered and then stood beside the door. Brian from the accident this morning came in and winked at Me Before the prince came in

He is six feet, maybe six inches or more, because, damn, the man is tall. He has jet-black hair, green eyes, piercings on his eyes, and a stud on the left side of his ear. He is the guy from the club who called me an ill-mannered banshee.

"You," I said, then scowled.

"Mate," He whispered, then pushed me to the nearest wall and fused his mouth to mine.
