Gwendolyn was still mad at the king. She couldn't understand what was wrong with him as she had tried everything to make him desire her and bed her as he should.

Kenneth wasn't fulfilling his duty as a king, and it was causing problems at the royal court. There were talks everywhere around the palace, about the king who was failing to produce an heir to his throne. It was a disadvantage to him and the queen, but it was a good thing for the prime minister who was thinking of presenting himself as a reagent in case his daughter doesn't give birth to a prince or a princess. In both cases, it would be a success for him as he will have more access to power.
