ELIANA

It's the middle of the night when I feel my body being pulled against the bed and a scream erupts from my mouth as strong hands pin my hands above my head, pinning me down.

Hands come over my mouth and muffles my scream. “Be quiet, little bird.”

My eyes flew open and I became still at the sound of his voice. I nod after a moment and he pulls his hand from my mouth, my breathing heavy as my heart thumped against my chest.

“Lu–Luca… what's—” I don't get the chance to complete my words when his mouth came down on me, claiming mine and I give in, melting on impulse into his touch.

But I wince from how bitter his mouth taste, tasting the alcohol from his mouth. I don't know how much he had but he's been drinking.

I had dinner in the kitchen with Esme to keep me company. She was a sweet middle aged woman with a warm smile and a gentle but firm touch. She told me she's been with Luca's family since he was a teenager and I wondered what he'd been like then.

Luca didn't come back
