“Excuse me? Why do I have to do that, sir? That old man out there tried to harass me! You're supposed to be on my side—” A harsh slap resounded on her right cheek and her head tilted to the side in shock as her boss glared at her in anger. She was being harassed and punished for trying to protect herself. Was this what the human world was like? She thought. She wanted to return to Arizona, far away from the evil and lust that ran in human blood. But after the destruction and extinction of her pack, she has nowhere to go. Returning to her hometown, which was miles away from Colorado, wasn't something she would want to face again. She hated the fact that she survived while her parents and everyone else died, but she didn't survive alone. Which was why she couldn't give up. She had to take care of her younger sister since she was the only family she had left. “You will get on your knees, strip, and beg for forgiveness from that man. You will do whatever he tells you to do. Am I understood?” Her boss growled in anger as he suddenly pulled her hair and without thinking twice, she stomped on his feet harshly. He let out a groan of pain as she pushed him backward and let out a chuckle of amusement. “Strip? Beg for forgiveness? Who the hell is he, God? You and your old man can go to hell, I quit!” She yelled as she pulled the bar's uniform off her head before slipping her shirt on. Even alphas weren't so bossy, yet they wielded so much power. She couldn't help but wonder what would happen if humans found out about their kind. “You bitch! You think I'd let you quit just like that?” He yelled as he pulled her back and slammed her against the wall, causing her to let out a sharp groan of pain. “Not until I have a taste of you. You think you're all that because you're pretty? I'm gonna take my time enjoying you and—” His breath stank so badly. She didn't let him complete his words as she placed her hand on his chest and exerted all the force she could muster. His eyes bulged out in shock as she pushed him and he went crashing into a stack of cartons by the side. She smirked knowing that even though she might not be able to shift into her wolf form, she was still a werewolf, and she had more strength than those lousy humans. Gwen didn't pause to see if he was still conscious or passed out, she simply walked past him and left the bar through the back door. She sucked in a sharp breath of fresh air as she stretched her hands over her head. She just lost the job that paid better than any other job she had taken. But that was fine. She still had three other jobs that would sustain Freya and her. Freya was the only family she had, and she would do anything to make sure she was comfortable. It was already midnight when Gwen arrived at their small cabin and found that Freya was already asleep. She walked up to her and gently stroked her hair, a small smile on her face as she watched her sister sleep. Her smile suddenly faded when she saw a letter on the table and she picked it up to see that Freya's college tuition fees were already due. Freya had always wanted to blend in with humans and begged Gwen to help her get into college. She dropped the letter on the table and turned to see that Freya was already awake with a soft yawn widening her lips. “I have something to tell you, Gwen.” She started softly as she sat up, and Gwen raised her brow in confusion. No words of welcome or hugs; Gwen was worried instantly. “Tell me. What is it, Freya? Is anyone bullying you? Did they find out your identity?” She asked in worry as she held Freya's hands and she immediately shook her head in denial, causing Gwen to let out a sigh of relief. “I know you've been trying your best for me, for us, Gwen. It's been a year since we moved from Arizona and I know you've been doing a lot just to make me comfortable. Even going so far as to get me enrolled in a college.” She muttered and Gwen nodded in response, urging her to continue. “As you can see… my tuition fees are due and I didn't want to bother you—” “You're never a bother, Freya. I'm doing it because I want to. You're my younger sister, and it's my job to take care of you.” She replied as she gently pushed her hair off her face but Freya sighed instead and took her hands out of hers. “That's not it… I didn't want to bother you so I decided to pay the tuition fees myself. I tried searching for jobs here and there but it was difficult juggling school and work, you know? So I spoke to a few of my rich friends, hoping that they would help me…” Her voice trailed off as she looked away from Gwen and her heart sank in her chest. Gwen could immediately tell that whatever Freya was about to say next wasn't good news. She took deep breaths to calm herself down while trying to stay positive. “They agreed. But they weren't going to give me the money themselves. So they took me to this organization… They're called Typhoons. They lend money to college students who need help in paying their tuition. So I…” “You took a loan from an organization?” She asked in horror and when Freya nodded, she stood up from the bed abruptly as she paced around in desperation. Gwen felt that she had failed as a sister. She couldn't provide for her so Freya had no choice but to borrow money around. “The problem now is… They've been threatening me, Gwen. The interest keeps rising, and I've been warned that if I don't pay by the latest tomorrow, they'd- they would sell my organs to pay up.” Freya's voice cracked at the end of her words and Gwen froze in shock. “That's not the only problem, Gwen,” Freya added in a small voice and Gwen turned to look at her in horror as she tried to wrap her head around her sister’s words.Seth walked into the building with a frustrated expression on his face, rubbing his temples gently. His crazy decision on buying that slave was beginning to look like a huge mistake and he suddenly began to regret showing up at that auction hall in the first place. He didn't need a slave for anything, he already had maids and guards. He could only blame his wolf for pushing him to make such hasty decisions that might backfire on him in the worst way.Charles emerged from a corner, his eyes narrowed at Seth like he had millions of questions to ask. Seth already knew what he had come for but he definitely wasn't ready to start explaining himself. He owed no one an explanation.“Don't stare at me like that, get me a drink. My head hurts.” Seth ordered as he slumped on the couch and Charles shot him a look of disbelief.“All the more reason you shouldn't drink. I would ask you to go to sleep but somehow there's a stranger locked up in your room.” Charles replied, his tone sarcastic and Se
“Resorting to violence as soon as things don't go your way, isn't that all you are?” Mark spat as he regained his stance, brushing his shirt slightly and Seth sneered in response.“You seem to forget who you're talking to. Why? You're interested in the girl? You want her for yourself? Come get her then.” Seth replied with a roll of his eyes and Mark scoffed in annoyance, shoving the cheque into his pocket as he pushed past Seth, purposely bumping against his shoulder.“You'll regret it if you treat her like shit.”“If you want her so bad, why didn't you buy her off instead?” Seth spat with a scoff and left without waiting to hear what Mark had to say. He hated how protective Mark was of her and he knew he would have punched him hard if he didn't try to control himself. She was his property now. What gave him the right to tell him what and what not to do with her?Seth walked out of the auction hall without waiting to see the investor who had invited him here. He didn't want to see th
Seth didn't want to be in that auction. He couldn't understand why men would offer to buy ladies as though they were slaves. But he had no chance but to attend. The biggest investor in his company had invited him personally and not going would definitely have consequences. All through the bidding, he had his face hung low and his face mask on so that no one could see his expression. He couldn't help but realize that humans were worse than animals. What were they trying to gain by buying and selling these poor girls? He had his AirPods plugged in as. he fixed his attention on his phone, scrolling through business news. He felt a tap on his shoulder and glanced up to see a man staring down at him with a smirk. Seth sighed lazily and slowly took out the AirPods from his ear as he turned to face Jace with a bored expression. "Is the event not to your liking?" Jace asked as he sat beside him and Seth remained quiet instead of answering him. Jace was his business rival and he wouldn't he
Jack held Gwen down as he moved to place his lips on hers when someone suddenly kicked him away from her. Gwen scrambled to the side as she covered herself with the pieces of her clothing and she looked up to see the leader staring down at her with a cold expression.“What did I tell you about harassing these ladies? What will you do if she gets rejected on the day of the auction? You better get your shit together, Jack. Don't force me to do something stupid to you.” He said calmly as he glared at Jack and Jack stood up before dusting the dirt off his shirt.“Yes, boss.” He said coldly before walking out of the room and the leader stared at Gwen again for a while, causing her to shrink into herself more.“Follow me.” He said calmly and she managed to stand up, shame and despair washing over her as she walked behind him with barely anything on. She turned to look at the girl who had tried to attack her earlier to see that she was scowling at her.Gwen quietly followed after the leader
Freya stood by the side of the bar as she watched the group of masked men take Gwen away. A small smirk formed on her lips as she stepped forward and walked up to the van, where Gwen lay unconscious.“I did as you said, you have a new item to sell. I won't pay you the money I owe anymore.” She said with a grin and the leader stared at her with a stoic expression before chuckling softly.“Aren't you so cruel? Selling your sister off for a debt you owe, are you even human?” The leader asked as he stared at her through the hole of his mask and she simply shrugged. She wasn't human after all so what's the use?“I know she's worth more than a thousand dollars, so I need my share,” Freya replied as she stretched out her hand, and the masked man took out an envelope before handing it to her.“It was nice working with you.” He said and she stepped back as the van drove away. She looked inside the envelope and grinned at the sight of the huge amount of money in the envelope. She felt no remors
GWEN'S POV “I love you so much, Freya but how could you do this? I told you to ask me for anything! You didn't even ask for my advice before making such a decision… Am I that incapable to you?” Gwen asked, her voice cracking as she spoke and Freya immediately shook her head before standing up as well.“I just wanted to assist you. I'm an adult and I also wanted to help you too-”“By taking a loan? From such an organization? Do you know how dangerous they are?” Gwen cut Freya off in frustration as she grabbed her hair in her hands.“I'm so sorry, Gwen… My friends, they told me it wasn't so bad and that they'll help me when it's time to pay back… I had no idea it'd turn out this bad!” Freya pleaded as she took Gwen's hands and tears slowly rolled down her cheeks.“Tell me, Freya. How much money did you borrow?” Gwen asked and Freya immediately went silent as she looked away with guilt written all over her face.“A thousand dollars…”“Excuse me!? A freaking thousand dollars— What did yo
