Alex stared at his reddened cheek in front of the mirror.

He could still hear the echo of the slap reverberating in his skull. He couldn't do anything against her, he had felt weak at that moment, partly because he knew he was wrong to do that and because he felt stupid. Maybe bringing her back into his life was a mistake. He should have learned to control himself.

"Fucking hormones," Alex cursed himself. He washed his face and removed his tie. He wiped his face with a towel and walked outside the room.

He felt stupid.

He felt dread the moment he stepped out of the hotel room.

Alex shook his head. No, she wouldn't do that. And if she did, he would have his way with the law.
