FOUR :JEALOUSY

Maya pressed her phone against her ears, walking towards the cafeteria, Sophie was absent from school.

She placed her hand into her pocket,her eyes scanning the noisy cafeteria for an empty space.

She sighted Brian, her art seatmate, and she walked towards him beaming.

"Hey Brian, it's been a while."

"Yeah,resumed late. How are you doing?" she beamed, excited to see him. He was one of the people she spoke freely to.

"Can I sit."

He pulled a seat backward for her smiling softly.

She thanked him.

"I am fine,you look thin,"

He only leaned back,his eyes lowered.

"It's nothing, "she simply nodded. She got up to get her food when he stopped her.

"I already ordered for us." She smiled happily sitting down,her eyes went the table,noticing the two trays of food.

He pushed one towards her,"thanks brian"

He smiled, leaning closer.

"You look beautiful when you smile," she froze,then tried to hide the blush on her cheeks.

He began to eat, and her eyes scanned his face.

Brian was a fine guy,he had a cute nerdy look, but he was kind. She and him had been friends since the beginning of high school,and he looked different now,hotter and more refined.

She began eating, too.

Jace walked into the cafeteria with his squad,his eyes scanning the whole place as if looking for something he did not want to name.

His eyes met with her back, and he smiled softly but chose not to go there.

He sat on their usual table,his eyes on Maya who was busying laughing and discussing with a guy.

Something curled in his stomach,a feeling he could not name.

Who was that guy sitting across her,and why did he feel so annoyed with the fact that she was smiling,so excited while talking.

His jaw tightened.

He picked up his phone but stopped. He did not have her number yet.

He began eating absentmindly when Albert tapped him.

"You have been too quiet,everything okay with you?"

"Yeah,I am good."

He picked on his food, stealing glances at the table.

After lunch,he strolled towards the chemistry class,feeling a sudden excitement at the thought of seeing someone.

Maya.

He ignored the way his mind went back to ethan's words,reminding him that this was a game.

Maya walked towards the class,Brian by her side with her bag.

She stopped seeing Jace. He walked towards them,glaring at Brian, who looked confused.

"Maya,hey," she smiled softly. "Hey,Jace. I looked for you all day,I wanted to return your cardigan"

Brian watched them,clearly not liking the fact that Maya was talking to Jace.

She collected her bag from Brian opening it,she searched her bag for the cardigan but it was nowhere to be found.

"I think I left it in the cafeteria,"

"Okay,Maya,I will be waiting in the class." Brian walked ahead,his jaw tightening as he looked back at them.

Jace felt relieved when Brian walked away.

"I will go get it." sne turned to go when he held her hand,"after the class."

"No,someone would steal it." she rushed past him as he stood smiling, watching her funny running pace. She truly was a cute bunny.

He frozed, realizing he was smiling,a full-blown smile,for a girl?

He shook his head, walking towards her direction, his legs moving before he could even hesitate.

Maya walked into the empty cafeteria, frozing when she saw the cardigan on the floor,with milk all over it.

She slowly raised her head up to see fay,queen bitch of Campbell High.

"Look who we have here,the nerdy bitch"

Maya stood still,"Oh,fay,thats your surname,I did not know we were sisters"

Fay charged towards her,her minions behind her.

"How dare you,for a nerd,you have guts,"

"For a queen bitch,your perfume sucks!" Fay clenched her fist,Maya smirked.

She would never let anyone bully her,she was not that timid.

She slowly took a deep breath.

"You did this?" She bent down, picking up the cardigan.

"Yes,and bitch,what are you going to do about that?"

"Why?"

"Listen, i am going to keep this short. Stay away from Jace,he is my boyfriend! "

Maya chuckled slowly as if she found it funny.

"Oh,poor fay,but I don't have anything doing with him" Maya turned back to leave but fay dragged her hair making her scream as she pushed Fay to the ground.

Fay barked at her minions to deal with Maya, but that moment,Jace walked in.

"What the fuck is going on here."

"Its Maya,the bitch pushed me down!" Fay yelled as she dust her skirt.

"You started it first!" Maya turned to Jace, who was frowning at Fay. He knew she was lying, but he let it go.

"I am sorry,your cardigan,I promise to wash it."

"Fay,you did this?" Fay looked away muttering words he could not hear.

"Stay away from Maya,Fay." He simply spoke,grabbing Maya's hand,he strolled out.

She tried to remove her hand, but he ignored her, holding her tighter.

He only let go when they got closer to the class door.

She froze, seeing that the class had started.

She walked in,with Jace trailing behind. His face blank.

"Miss Carter,why are you late? "

"I am sorry ma,I forgot something in the cafeteria."

Miss Jane eyed her before telling her to go to her sit.

She walked towards her sit with Jace,who simply ignored the teacher.

She knew better than to stress her self over rich boys like Jace,they were untouchable and love getting on teacher's nerve.

"Since you two just entered, I was already pairing your mates,the two of you are partners for the chemistry project i mentioned yesterday."

Maya sighed sitting down,Jace pushed her bag away,settling very close to her.

She could perceive his cologne and she liked it?

She faced the teacher, scribbling down words but Jace simply looked uninterested.

He was almost dozing off when Maya tapped him.

"Class is over,where do we do the project?Library or the lab?"

He sa up.He smirked pushing her curly hair back,she parted her lips as he leaned closer.

His eyes roamed her pretty babyish face before speaking.

"What about my house?" He asked seductively,his hands moving towards her legs.

She frozed,she pushed his hands away. Her heart beat quickened as she looked at him,always a fuckboy.

"No,thanks,the lab would do.meet me after school hours." She spoke coldly

She got up,packing her book.He wondered why she looked upset but before he could say a word,she walked past him.

He sighed,picking up his bag.
