VENUS:

Maxim stared at me for a moment. He stood beside me, and his broad shoulders cast a shadow over the room. His presence was all dominance, but his expression… unreadable.

Olivia entered after a brief knock. She had clearly tried to compose herself before coming in—back straight, chin high—but her eyes flicked to me with that same simmering resentment I’d seen a hundred times before.

“You called for me, Alpha?” she said, her tone a fragile balance between respect and challenge.
