CHAPTER 65: THE REVELATION

VENUS

The sun was beginning to take over the sky when Maxine decided that we should return to the pack house. When I pointed to that spot and told him that a thirteen years old girl was buried there five years ago, his mouth dropped agape And he stared at me for a long moment.

It was a quiet patch near the western border of the territory, where trees stood tall and silent, as though they bore witness to a terrible secret.

"Here," I whispered, pointing to a dip in the earth partially masked by fallen leaves and moss.

He stared at the spot as though he was trying to see through the soil, his jaw tightening. "How do you know this?"

I smiled. That question was unnecessary. He knew I had a gift. "I saw it in my vision. I saw a little girl crying for help as soon as we approached. Even right now, she's still crying for justice. Her death has caused all female wolves in your pack to be barren."

He closed his eyes. For a long time, neither of us spoke. I could fee

  • THE RUTHLESS ALPHA'S HUMAN SURROGATE    SHE LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE YOU

CHAPTER 71: SHE LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE YOU VENUS:I was reading one of my favourite books when the door opened. The sound made me lift my eyes from the sentence I’d read three times without understanding. It was just a romance novel but I couldn't understand how a billionaire and his wife could make their maid get pregnant for him without the maid knowing that he slept with her.“Hey, you're okay?” Maxine said as he walked in.I looked up from the book clutched in my hands and found Maxine stepping into my room, hair still damp from a fresh shower, wearing a dark shirt that clung to his chest like a second skin. He looked exhausted… but in that rugged, broody kind of way that made it impossible to look away.He smiled softly. “Caught you reading again, little wolf?”I smiled back and closed the book. “It’s better than curling up and worrying about what chaos tomorrow will bring.”Without a word, Maxine crossed the room, leaned down, and kissed me—slowly, deeply. The kind of kiss that ma

  • THE RUTHLESS ALPHA'S HUMAN SURROGATE    I'M HERE TO SEE THE KING

CHAPTER 64: I'M HERE TO SEE THE KINGMAXINE:I had never felt rage like this before. It was a slow, burning fire crawling beneath my skin, eating through every shred of restraint I had left. My fists clenched and unclenched as I stared at Alder’s trembling form. A part of me wanted to end him right there in that dungeon, rip his throat out with my claws and let justice drip slowly from his body. But I didn’t.Because I wasn’t just an Alpha—I was the head of one of the largest packs in the territory. My decisions couldn’t be ruled by emotion alone. Not when the consequences could ripple far beyond our borders.I wanted Alder to be alive and stand as a witness when the time comes to confront Draven.I turned to Crystal. Her face was pale, eyes swollen with tears, but her posture was defiant. She was strong. My sister had always been a storm wrapped in velvet, soft on the outside but made of steel within.“Go upstairs,” I said, my voice low but firm. “You’ve seen enough for one day.”Sh

  • THE RUTHLESS ALPHA'S HUMAN SURROGATE    DRAVEN PAID ME

CHAPTER 63: DRAVEN PAID MEMAXINE:“Who have you ever been with, Donald?” I asked, my voice sharp as broken glass. “Who in your past might have hated you enough to destroy your child?”Crystal’s fingers were digging into her arms, her eyes glued to Donald without blinking. We were still in the dungeon, and the stench of sweat and mildew was beginning to make me uncomfortable. Well, it was a dungeon. It wasn't meant to be comfortable.Alder sat shackled to the wall, his head hung low like a defeated animal.Donald swallowed hard. “I—” he glanced at Crystal, then back at me. “The only person I ever dated before Crystal was Linda.”I frowned. “Who’s Linda?”“Draven’s sister,” he said slowly, as if the name itself left a sour taste in his mouth. “It ended badly. She was obsessed. Possessive. But then I found my mate and just couldn't continue with her. When I ended things, she threatened to ruin me.”Crystal’s gasp was loud. “You never told me this.”“I didn’t think she’d go this far,” D

  • THE RUTHLESS ALPHA'S HUMAN SURROGATE    HE ISN'T SAYING THE TRUTH

CHAPTER 62: HE ISN'T SAYING THE TRUTH MAXINE:I gave Crystal a glass of water and waited until she has calmed down. “Let's go,”she said, rising to her feet. Donald stood too, ready to accompany his mate. Amira was his child after all. I led them to the gate of the dungeon, accompanied by a few of my security men.As I stood at the heavy dungeon door, my hand poised on the thick iron handle, I glanced at my sister. The expression on her face was unreadable. Crystal's grip was firm on my arm, and her entire body taut with rage and heartbreak. The flickering torchlight in the corridor barely touched her face, but I could see the fire in her eyes. She hadn’t said a word the whole way here.Until now."I need to see him, Max. I need to look at him."I gave a single nod. "You will. Just... try to remember he's already condemned."Her lips curled bitterly. "Not by me, he isn’t."The two guards at the dungeon door stood to attention as I approached. They unlatched the lock and swung it op

  • THE RUTHLESS ALPHA'S HUMAN SURROGATE    YOU LOOK LIKE YOU'VE SEEN A GHOST

CHAPTER 67: YOU LOOK LIKE YOU'VE SEEN A GHOST MAXINE:I ordered Bryson, one of my warriors to get a casket and put Mira's body in it. I wanted to give her a proper burial. She deserves it.I was so sad my body trembled as I returned back to the pack house. My boots were still caked in forest soil. My shirt clung to my skin with sweat and dried leaves stuck to the hem of my pants. I must’ve looked like I’d crawled out of a battlefield. In many ways, I had.I hadn’t even wiped the tears from my face.Crystal’s scent hit me before I saw her. Crystal is my sister. And the ache in my chest deepened as soon as I realised she was around. I had called her two days ago and requested she come and meet my mate. At the time, I didn't know something like this will come up.The last time I hugged her, she was screaming at me, grief-stricken, and blaming me for not protecting her daughter.I paused at the hallway corner, inhaling deeply before turning toward the living room. And there she was.She
