49. HEY BUDDY

The musty dull smell of rusted irons plunged into the humid air that was hardly finding its way into the dark basement. Droplets of water fell onto the huge drum at the right side of the room at some minute’s interval and it could be heard from a pretty far distance thanks to the total state of silence the small square room was.

The huge metal door made a scrapping noise as it opened slowly on its giant hook to give way to whoever pressed the open button from the other end.

“Hey buddy, miss me?” the old voice croaked alongside each step the speaker took down the noisy stairs.

“As expected…. Silence” he muttered to himself, approaching the man on the chair as fast as possible.

A quick glance at the plate of rotten food that was lying on the left side made his nose scrunch as he tried to cope with the horrible stench stemming from the side of the room, gradually filling the atmosphere thanks to the air that rushed in through the door that was opened for a slight minute.
