Chapter 39.

MORE PROBLEMS TO DEAL WITH.

Clary's POV.

I moved from one side of the door to the other, just to get a glance of what was going on. I'd even tried to put my head in-between the bars to get a closer look because the situation sounded serious.

My body was vibrating to the thump of my heart and I could tell that something was about to happen, if it hadn't happened yet.

Meanwhile, I recognized that voice earlier to be Eric's. But who exactly did he want to be found by all means? To think that these questions kept running through my mind and there was no way I could get the answers I wanted almost drove me nuts.

“Damn!” I yelled, pounding a fist against an iron bar and then blowing off the strand of hair on my face.

The guards who were there earlier had suddenly disappeared. Perhaps, to see what was going on, or to help out capture whoever Eric had ordered to be captured.

“You should take it easy.” Hayley said.

“Can you just shut up!” I yelled, gripping the sides of my head w

The Clary that I know wouldn't leave her family to suffer because of a piece of paper.” “That piece of paper is what's going to save us all!” I yelled, my eyes glittering with anger. As I realized what I did, I sighed and lowered my head. I didn't mean to raise my voice at her, but she was dragging the issue. I had to save Reggie too, but she was making things difficult for me.“I am sorry mom.” I said,

Chapter 43.THE DOOM AHEAD.Clary's POV.“Are you sure this is a good idea?” Hayley asked, her voice laced with concern. “Yes, I am.” I said, spreading out my arms as I looked at myself. “They won't recognize me easily now that I'm dressed this way. How do I look?” For one, I knew that I couldn't wear that gown around anymore. It would sell me out quickly. So I figured that putting on some of Reggie's clothes would do. At least, that way, I would be able to take off the attention from me. After combing through his wardrobe, I was fortunate enough to find a black shirt, not my favorite color, but I paired it with a blue pants. There was no mirror around, none that I could find. So I really couldn't tell how his clothes looked on me. I was actually expecting Hayley to tell me what she thought. But she was more concerned about my safety than my appearance. And I could understand that. You don't come across friends who worry about you like her so often. “Just do what you have to do a

Chapter 42.A PROMISE.Clary's POV.“Where are we going to?” Hayley asked, taking back her hands from me as she stopped walking. “You haven't said anything since we left the cell. All you keep saying is that you have to bring me to a safe place. Where exactly is that place?” “Do you trust me?” I asked, looking into her eyes. “If you do, then take my hands and let's go. We don't have much time.” If you're thinking of how we managed to leave the cell after Craig returned and caught us trying to escape, then the answer lies in our numerical advantage. It was easier to take him down since it was the both of us.However, I couldn't bring her to my home since Eric had taken my parents' hostage. Also, it would have been a lot better to have just taken her back to her house for her to hide there. But then, five years for me was quite a long time to recall the route. So instead, I thought of bringing her to Reggie's cottage. At least, she would be safe there for the time being. Reggie had be

Chapter 41.A GOOD PLAN.Clary's POV.“Are you sure this is…” “Shhh.” I hushed, placing my index finger on my lips. “Just a moment, please.”Although, I couldn't say exactly what they were talking about, but I knew that the guards were saying some things to themselves. Curious, I walked to the door to listen to what they were saying. Even though I couldn't see their faces because they were at the far end, however I could tell their voices apart. “The man behind the delayed appearance of the red moon has been captured.” — the guard who spoke to me earlier said. “And he's going to be executed tonight.” As his words fell upon my ears, my skin crawled with sparks of dread. Didn't he practice enough magic to hide himself or what? It wasn't even up an hour that he was being searched for and now, he's been captured? What in the world was Reggie thinking? “You should have just ran away when you had the chance to.” I said, hitting my forehead against the bars of the door. “Why did you ret

Don't you want to share with me?” I paused in my tracks, and tilted my headed from side to side with narrowed eyes as I cupped an elbow with a hand and tapped the corner of my mouth with the other hand. If Eric had found out about Reggie then it was only a matter of time before he would be caught. But then again, what in the world was Reggie thinking? Why did he have to wait back? He should have just kept himself safe and returned some other time. Why did he have to reveal himself by delaying the appearance of the red moon?“This is driving me nuts.” I said, barely breathing the words as I ran a jerky hand through my hair. “What do I do now? Eric mustn't catch him.” For one, I knew that there was no way Eric would have found out about Reggie unless he also had a witch worki
