Chapter Forty-one

Two weeks after the incident occured, Matthew decided to get himself wrapped in his work, since being idle has done very little to nothing in helping him get over his predicament.
Numerous times, Williams tried to approach him to get the truth of what happened, but to no avail. He finally gave up and let him be. He tried to talk some sense into him though, and it seemed that it worked because Matt listened to him and stopped sitting in the house-sulking all day.
He has not replied to any of Doris' messages and she seemed to have gotten the hint, because she stopped calling him either. As much as he tried to pretend that he was getting over the pain, he always felt the hollow in his heart, always reminding him that his life had changed forever.

She was glad to set her eyes on the light of day again not to talk of the trauma she experienced yesterday. She closed her eyes and shook her head to clear the thoughts running through her mind. She refused to believe that Matthew could go to such extent just to have his revenge on her. She always expected to be punished for her sins, but she never imagined that spending her time in jail would be the punishment he saw fit. She realized that she would not serve the punishment alone, her children were surely going to be affected.
