Chapter 35

Robert finishes work early and decides to surprise his wife, Christine, with a romantic dinner at their favourite restaurant. Excited and eager to see her, he calls Christine on his way there but she doesn't pick up. As he waits, his emotions shift from anticipation to worry, and eventually to panic as he imagines various scenarios.

As I stepped out of the office, the crisp evening air hit my face.

Today was different – I had finished work early and decided to surprise Christine with a romantic dinner.

I could almost taste the anticipation, the excitement bubbling within me. I dialled Christine's number, eager to share the news, but the call went straight to voicemail.
