Chapter Forty-five.

Diana's pov

My legs had almost given out. Apparently, I hadn't used them in a week, which was still surprising. Luke took me to the corner and hid me behind the curtain. “Shh, I'll try to steer them away,” he assured me before he left and closed the curtain behind him.

I stayed as stiff as I could, in order not to draw too much attention to where I was, a conversation had ensued and I listened attentively.

“We are looking for a servant girl, about this height, I saw her come through this place,” one of the guards said in a thick voice.

They needed to go fast as I was feeling weaker and weaker in the knees, “Yes actually, she came through here,” my breath was caught in my throat at Luke's answer, I didn't know why I trusted him in the first place, he was going to out me. I waited, every second that passed felt like an eternity.

“Matter of fact, she was quite rude, bumping into me like that."

“Where is she now?” The thick voice asked again.
