Chapter One
Diana's pov:A loud voice filled the atmosphere. One minute, I was in a shop and the next, I'm in a room with the Lycan King and another man. It was like a trance, a projection but the problem was that I was in their midst but they couldn't see or feel me."What? A mere wolf? To take my throne?" The Lycan King bellowed, his voice filled with anger and a bit of mockery.I couldn't move or speak no matter how much I tried to."Y—yes... Sire." The priest responded, shaking visibly out of fear."Tell me something Cedric. Start afresh. I want to know how the moon goddess has gone wild." He said while he walked into the throne room, Cedric just right behind him.“Sire it's a bit complicated, the moon goddess is angry with us… with our ways and wants to punish us.”The lycan king sat on his golden throne on the dias and glanced at the high priest.“I'm not in the mood for any of your nonsense talk Cedric.” King William was beginning to feel irked, I could tell from his constant clicking of his finger against the arms off his throne. The high priest began to shake his head frantically in protest, “Sire, this from the moon goddess herself, we should take it seriously." Although Cedric was visibly shaking, he needed to pass across an information which must have been very important."Now is not the time for this high priest, my wife has just gone into labor and they have been in there for hours, there's also news about some recent disturbances coming from the wolves in the towns so excuse me if I don't really care what the moon goddess has to say except if she can solve my issue!” The lycan king blew up.The high priest was lost in thought for a few seconds, “Your majesty, just listen to me for a few seconds, that's all, it entails the survival of our kind,” he tried to plead. “The moon goddess has given a prophecy.”The lycan king scrunched up his face in confusion, “What prophecy? Is it going to help with my child that is being born, or with those imposters that call themselves wolves? Honestly if it were that I would gladly give you a listening ear.”The lycan king was really not in a good mood as the guards had warned the high priest beforehand. But then, Cedric began reading the scroll in his hand:“BENEATH THE MOON'S VEILED GAZE, THE LYCAN DEFY THE ANCIENT RITES AND LAWS. THEY HAVE CAUSED CHAOS TO MY CREATION, SHATTERING THE BALANCE. THEIR REIGN WILL CRUMBLE AND IN ITS PLACE WILL RISE THE TRUE WOLF BLOODS, DESCENDANTS OF THE MOON GODDESS HERSELF, AND OF HER OWN IMAGE SHALL THEY BE, A MIGHTIER FORCE IN THE VEINS OF SILVER. A CHANCE TO REDEEM YOURSELF SHALL BE GIVEN, BUT IF LOST, YOUR ENTIRE REIGN SHALL COME TO AN END, ALONG WITH YOUR KIND."As Cedric recited the prophecy, goosebumps flooded his entire body as the hairs on his back stood. His hands were visibly shaking and his mouth quivered with fear. “We might have angered the moon goddess with our ways and now she will punish us for it.”He continued outrightly cutting the king off even though he knew he was courting death. “A group of women perhaps, maybe men, I didn't see that part clearly. I also couldn't figure out what our second chance would be. I've had this for a while and it has burdened me ever since, I thought I could receive more from her but I felt it was getting late and I needed to bring it to your attention,” Cedric blurted out in one breath, he glanced up to access the king's reaction to see if he had gotten through to him.I tried moving once again, but it felt like two invisible barriers held me in place, why was this happening though? The lycan king stood up from his throne, “Cedric, your disrespect aside for a while, you really think a bunch of lowlife weak she-wolves are capable of bringing an empire that has existed for generations? Then you must be just as delusional as the moon goddess is.” The king bursted out laughing before he became serious."Blasphemy, your grace!""Blasphemy?" The King asked, amused by the sudden outburst of the high priest.“You need to heed to this warning your majesty. You cannot just let this go by because you are too proud to face square to square with a bunch of she-wolves!” Cedric exploded like a bomb, forgetting for a minute that he was in the presence of the king, or maybe he was just afraid of the moon goddesses threat than the king in front of him.I was even surprised that he could raise his voice at the king, even in my state, I was scared for Cedric.“I've tolerated your nonsense long enough, and so have my fathers but I guess you've taken it a bit too far, I suggest you leave. Now!” The lycan king said before he began to walk away.“This isn't about me, your grace. It's about the Lycan population that you are about to let go extinct." Cedric didn't care anymore.A wet nurse bursted in through the side doors, her breathing ragged, her dress stained with blood. “Your majesty, the child has arrived,” she announced. “It's a prince, your highness.”The Lycan king exclaimed, “Finally! Some good news." But before he could celebrate his victory, he heard from the high priest once again, “That's it! That must be it, there must be some kind of connection, or maybe he caused everything, I am telling you what I saw, what I felt.”A guard buried in as well and informed the king on the occurrence and the going on of the packs which didn't add to his mood.“Your Majesty, all these; the prophecy from the moon goddess, the child, the disturbances from the various packs, they cannot be a coincidence, if you would just listen to what I have to say.”While the king walked towards the wet nurse, Cedric followed behind him.“Your Majesty, the ministers would like to see you as well,” The guard from earlier also informed again. “They said it's quite urgent, but still on the matters of the local packs."Cedric continued, “Your majesty don't you see, if we want to save our species, we need to…"A resounding crack shocked both the wet nurse, the guard and me as well as Cedric fell to the floor in a heap, his head rolling off as his sentence was cut off. “I never really liked him anyway,” the lycan king muttered before he addressed the guard who had just entered, “Dispose of his body."I couldn't stop staring at the headless body that laid limp on the polished floor.”You…” He turned to the wet nurse, “Lead me to my child.” None of them dared to speak as they carried out their assigned task.Suddenly, I heard my name from a distance and then, a blinding white light brought me back to reality. I swallowed my dried, aching throat as beads of sweat ran down my face. My heart pounded vigorously. What happened? My eyes darted around as they landed on my palms which had turned white out of fear and my claws outstretched in defense. A dream or a vision of the past? But one thing I do know is, what I had just witnessed birthed my story; THE ORIGIN OF SILVER BLOODS. .Chapter two YEARS LATERDiane’s pov:I woke up feeling strange, something about the day didn't feel right but I shrugged it off as nothing and went about my day as I might be overthinking. It wasn't like everyday in the palace ever felt right. A normal day in the palace, and by normal day, it was a day filled with chores and having to not bump into one of the nobles which was always hard considering I work in the palace where they normally visit. Why I always do not like an encounter with them was because of the simple fact that they hated my guts, not just me but the entire werewolf civilization that they feel is beneath them. They believe that they are the true bloods; Lycans, the first creation of the moon goddess and the most perfect. They do not like to interact with the likes of my kind but they can't do away with us as well, because we make up more of the population than they do, and so they resorted to making us work for them instead. We were slaves
Chapter threeDiana's pov Rows of exorbitant Cars rolled into the palace, cars that I wouldn't even dream of ever riding. When the first car reached the fountain roundabout and then came to a stop, the butlers came to the doors and drew them open and a stunning lady in a wonderful sparkling dress stepped out cautiously, she glanced around while the cameras began to flash. They all pulled up the same way and had their pictures taken before they walked into the venue.None would be considered underdressed, perfect robes on the males and glittering dresses on the females that accentuated their curves. The younger ladies were more dolled up than others and everyone knew why—to catch the prince's attention. They looked like they were wearing a second skin, a lady looked like she was about to faint even.We proceeded into the building when the last car had finally pulled up and began to serve.Apparently, for a few years since he had turned eighteen, he hadn't found his mate yet and so the
Chapter fourDiana's pov:The silence still persisted as everyone watched. What was going to happen next? No one knew. I continued to stand on the same spot while I faced the Lycan Prince, son of King William Winston. I couldn't believe that the heir to the throne was my mate. I, a mere citizen, was to be a royalty, to be a princess myself.I never really put much effort in finding my mate, but I had always hoped to find him one day. Maybe he would treat me with dignity and respect even though I'm a werewolf and also treat my kind better. But as I turned eighteen a year ago, I never really found him, and so I just lived my life trying to survive. Now here I was, in the presence of the royal family, the prime ministers and the prince himself who was my mate.I stared at his blue eyes for quite a while, not knowing what would happen next but I had a feeling. He slowly walked up to me, I could see disgust evidently etched on his handsome features as he peered down at me which made me s
Chapter fiveDiana's pov I was startled as the chief maid waltzed into the room with so much vigor and walked up to me, she swung her hand across my face in a hard motion, turning my head to the side. The pain stung, but not as much as my heart at that moment, I twisted my head to gaze at her while she stood over me.“How dare you? Have you any idea what you've done, disrespecting the entire royal family by bringing shame and embarrassment when you ran out of their presence?” She yelled at the top of her voice, her face becoming slightly red and the bulge on her forehead began to appear. She gave a short laugh filled with mockery. "You are quite the lucky one, his majesty only decided to lock you up for your indiscretion last night, if your punishment were up to me, you'll be lashed hard enough until you pass out, because you also disgraced me as well, and here you are having a wonderful time just having a nice nap,” she huffed and puffed while I tried to drown the noise out.She di
Chapter sixDiana's povShe closed the door behind her and stood, her back pressed against the wall, “Surprised to see me?” Emily's voice bounced against the walls as she sauntered down the stairs towards my cell. She wasn't wrong though, I was quite surprised to see her and wondered what exactly she was doing here. She is the prime minister's daughter which I've had the pleasure of not meeting a couple of times. The few times that we did cross paths, she knew how to make my life more miserable. Not to mention her father was basically the king's right-hand when it comes to decisions of the state. I never wanted to cross her path, but sometimes, it was inevitable. She smirked as she could and then came to a halt in front of my cell. I sat on the ground and strained my neck to look upwards at her. “Yes, well, I'm surprised as well. I wouldn't dare visit such a place like this meant for commoners and low-class miscreants,” she said, her expression twisted in disgust as she glanced aroun
Chapter sevenDiana's povApparently, the guards were the ones to walk in. I was still mulling over what had just happened while they ran to Emily's aid, “Miss, are you alright, what happened here?” They questioned. When she got on her feet, she wrenched her hands from the guards who had helped her up, “Get your hands off me, what do you think happened here?” She barked back in so much anger before she turned sharply towards me, “That bitch did something to me!"“We heard a loud scream and then noises, and we thought to check it out, when we got here you were on the floor,” one of the guards answered.Emily continued to stare at me in confusion and anger. We didn't know what had happened either. One minute she was in front of me, the next she was on the floor. Did I do that? It couldn't be, but then how did she end up on the floor? There was no way that I could have done that, but I guess Emily had other beliefs. She walked up the bars of my cell with shaky legs, which were the only t
Chapter EightAlaric's povAfter a wild night, I still couldn't sleep. It's been the same ever since I found out who my mate was. I replayed the scene of my return-banquet over and over and over in my mind. There was a stir coming beside me and then a low yawn, “Good morning,” a soft feminine voice greeted in a lazy tone. “How did you sleep?” Emily asked as she placed a hand on my bare chest which made me glance at her from the corner of my eye. There was a smile on her face like she had had the best night of her life, well I couldn't relate cause my nights have been shitty ever since the banquet and things got even more complicated.“You need to leave, now." I took her hand from my chest and placed it on the bed then rolled over and sat down and tried taking deep breaths just to get myself started for the day.Although I had the opportunity to relax, as the crowned prince and the only prince, I still had things to do.I've never really fancied Emily, we never really talked that much
Chapter NineDiana's povI woke up the next day with Merilyn still beside me. I tapped her gently in an attempt to wake her up as I knew it was time for us to get up and get to work before headmaid Beatrice comes around, she wouldn't take it likely with us if she caught us still in bedShe hummed before she finally sat up, rubbing her eyes with the back of her hands and then she stretched, “Is the witch here yet?” She asked absentmindedly. I chuckled softly knowing she was referring to Miss Beatrice.“Watch it Mer, you don't know who's listening,” I cautioned. Finally awake, she cast a sad look at me for a few seconds, “Are you sure you'd be okay to work today?” She asked out of concern as she stretched her hand out and placed it upon mine on the bed.I didn't say a word and just nodded and offered her a tight-lipped smile but she didn't seem convinced.I wasn't okay at the moment if I could not work today, that would have been really better for me but I knew that wasn't possible, Mis
