CHAPTER 23

Ravena lost consciousness when the medication passed through her blood and entered a different dimension. She was always in the forest, next to the creek, where the water flowed over rounded stones in an endless, steady stream that was crystal clear yet silent.

Her dream lover whispered to her, "Ravena," and she could read his lips. Why wasn't he in her view more often? converse with him? knows him. He kissed her fingers after she placed them close to his mouth.

She insisted on reading his lips, though. She begged him to "say something," but he grabbed one of her fingers and sucked.

She tried again, this time shaking off the need that was heating up on her skin. She said her last name, "Wildhaven," while he again pressed his fingers to her lips.

But he did not say the term again.

What's your name, she enquired. He was able to see her face, but she was unable to see his.
