FADING MEMORIES

"Do you have any déjà vu today, Zack?" Debbie asked, a mischievous smirk on her lips as she gazed out the window at the dreary afternoon sky. She's swinging her hand back and forth, clutching a gun. While the other dragged Zack's left foot to the lake's dock through the back door.

Zack fights to breathe while crawling to resist his grandmother from dragging him down the lake with both hands. When he was wailing on the floor over Jackie's lifeless body, numbness struck his foot when he didn't realize Debbie had shot him. And everything happened so rapidly that he didn't have time to think about it. When he witnessed Jackie's terrible condition, time seemed to stand still for him. And it hasn't yet dawned on him whether anything he's seen is true.

Because the dock's floor is covered in filth and wood shavings,
