LOGINChapter 6:
đ§ BRAINS NOT INCLUDED
MIA'S POV
One thing you should know about the Adams family is that they donât send warnings quietly. They donât leave threats behind like puzzles to solve. No, they look you straight in the eye and tell you theyâre going to kill you. And once they say it, you're as good as dead. Thatâs just how they are. You can run to heaven if you want, but even heaven wonât save you. No hiding place is safe. Once they mark you, theyâll find you.
Thatâs the kind of people weâre dealing with. The kind who breathe trouble. The kind who eat death for breakfast.
So, I wasnât mad because Victor had been stealing. No, I was furious because he was stealing from the Skoll Packâ the same pack that caused our parents' death. The same monsters that left us broken and cold.
I stood up from Seraâs bed with my blood boiling. I didnât even try to hide the fire in my steps. I was going to confront my brother. I had no plan, no speechâ just rage.
âWhere are you going?â Sera asked, her voice soft and filled with concern.
âTo ask him why heâs so stupid,â I said, trying to calm the heat in my voice, but I failed.
âI thought you said heâs in a meeting with the Elders?â she asked again.
âYeah,â I snapped. âBut this is more important. Whatâs the use of a pack meeting if weâre dead before it ends? If the Skoll Pack invades us, thereâll be no one left to hold meetings.â
I stormed out before she could reply.
âPlease take it easy with him,â she called after me. âDonât put yourself in trouble.â
I stopped walking and turned around to look at her. She looked nervous, scared even.
âI believe what you mean is, donât put you in trouble, right?â I asked her, and I could see the guilt in her eyes. Thatâs exactly what she meant. She didnât want to face Victor againâ not after what he did to her last night. He rejected her as his mate. In front of the entire pack. If it were me, I would never return to this place. But Sera⌠she was stronger than she looked.
Sera said nothing. I didnât wait any longer. I headed straight for the meeting room. And I didnât knock. I didnât care who was inside.
I pushed the door open, and heads turned instantly. They were all seatedâ Victor and the Eldersâ talking like the world wasnât falling apart.
âI want to speak to my brother,â I said boldly, walking in like I owned the place.
Sera whispered from behind, âRather say you want them all out.â
I smiled. âI want you all out!â I shouted, louder this time.
Everyone turned to look at Victor. He was the Alpha after all. His face didnât show any emotion, but after a few seconds, he nodded. One by one, the Elders dragged themselves out of the hall, mumbling under their breath.
Once the door closed behind them, Victor turned to me with that cold look he always had when he was annoyed. âWe might be siblings,â he said, âbut learn to know your place in this pack.â
Then his eyes shifted to Sera. She was standing quietly behind me. He stared for a long second. âSheâs back,â he said.
âDo you care?â I asked.
He looked back at me, frowning slightly. âWhy have you interrupted my meeting?â
âI just want to ask why you want to die like our father did,â I said, standing my ground.
âWhat are you talking about?â he asked, his face full of confusionânor maybe he was pretending. I know Victor. This was him playing dumb.
âIf the Adams family could tell Sera they want you dead, I believe they would have told you too,â I said.
âWhat is going on, Mia?â he asked again.
âYou know exactly what Iâm talking about!â I shouted. âWhy have you been stealing from the Skoll Pack?â
He flinched. Just slightly. But I saw it. That was all I needed.
âKeep your voice down,â he said quickly.
âWhy?â I hissed, but lowered my voice anyway.
Then he narrowed his eyes. âHow do you know about this?â
I stepped aside. âSera, tell him.â
I heard her take a deep breath behind me. Then her soft voice filled the silence. âAfter the last incident, I ran into the woods and fell. I must have hit my head because I passed out. When I woke up, I was in the Adamsâ house. Their⌠their nice son, Mike, had saved me.â
She paused, maybe realizing she called Mike nice. I rolled my eyes. Not the time.
âAt breakfast, they told me everything. They said youâve been stealing from them. That theyâre going to kill you. And not just youâ me and Mia too.â
Victor smiled. That cold, annoying smile.
âI donât see why they want you dead, Sera,â he said.
I exploded again. âThey know you have a Luna, Victor!. Thank the Moon Goddess they donât know Sera is the Luna they want to kill along side you,".
âI rejected her,â he said calmly. âSo she has no problem.â
Those words hit Sera like a bullet. I didnât have to look back to know she was hurting. My hands clenched at my sides. How could he say that so easily?
There was silence for a while. Then I broke it. âWhy, Victor? Why have you been stealing from them? Youâre putting us all at risk! Do you want me and Sera to die because of your stupidity?â
He sat down slowly, looking tired all of a sudden.
âI needed to,â he said at last.
SERA'S POV âSo, youâve gotten to the stage where you ask a stranger if Iâm telling the truth or not?â Victor asked, his eyes fixed on Mia.Mia didnât even flinch. âI think so,â she replied, and without another word, she stood up and left the dining room.Victor turned his gaze on me. âThanks. I owe you,â he said.I didnât respond. My mind was too busy. I felt uneasy, like a child who had just stolen candy. I had just lied to Mia, my friend, and it didnât sit right in my heart. I wanted to disappear. I wanted to find the nearest excuse and leave this place before I drowned in regret.âThe maids will lead you to the room prepared for you, if youâre ready,â Victor said with a small smile.âIâm ready,â I replied almost immediately. Why would I waste time? The faster I left his presence, the better. Two maids appeared as if they had been standing behind the door, waiting for the signal. They led me down a quiet hallway, and soon we stopped in front of a room. When I stepped inside, I froz
SERA'S POVI never expected that our visit to Annaâs shrine would start with drama. But knowing Mia, anything was possible. As soon as Anna opened the door and let us in, Mia went straight to the point, not even giving Anna a chance to settle."My brother told me there is no solution to the curse in our land?" Mia asked, standing tall and proud like she owned the shrine.Anna froze for a second. I noticed it. Mia noticed it. Even a blind person would have noticed it. That pause was suspicious. Mia narrowed her eyes and asked, "What is that look?"Anna blinked and tried to act normal, but the damage was already done. She had been caught off guard."I never believed he would tell you," Anna finally said, looking around like someone who had just been exposed on national TV. "It was a huge secret.""Yes, it is," Mia said, folding her arms. "So what is the solution?"Anna didnât answer right away. Instead, she asked another question, which only made Mia's eyes roll like a soccer ball. "Wha
SERA'S POV"Our land is cursed. Anything planted can't grow," Victor said when Mia asked why he had been hijacking almost all of the Skoll packâs hard drug shipments. The moment he said that, something clicked in my head. For months now, I had hardly seen green grass anywhere within the Nox pack territory. It all made sense suddenly, though I still didnât want to believe it.âWhat are you talking about?â Mia asked, her face confused. She clearly didnât understand what Victor meant. âHow are they food when nothing can grow in the land?â she added.âThatâs the usefulness of the stealing,â Victor replied calmly, like he was explaining something as simple as why the sky is blue. âI hijack the Skoll packâs shipments, rebrand them, and then sell them at a cheaper price to feed the whole pack.âMia stared at him like he had grown two heads. She didnât believe a single word he said. Her hands went to her waist and she started pacing around the room. That was her thingâ she paced when she was

SERA'S POV"You know, I didnât even want to attend the ceremony," I said, trying to keep my voice steady. My heart was racing. I wasnât just making small talk â I was trying to distract Mike from asking more questions. Dangerous questions."But my best friend forced me to go," I added quickly, giving a weak laugh.Mike kept his eyes on the road as he drove. His hands were firm on the wheel, his expression unreadable. "You shouldn't have come," he said at last. His voice wasnât angry, but there was something serious in his tone. "If I hadnât seen you lying there in the woods, you mightâve been killed. A bear, a wolf⌠anything couldâve attacked you."I nodded slowly, pretending to be calm. "Youâre right. Thank you for helping me. I really appreciate it."Outside, the trees zipped by. The road twisted through the forest, and with every turn, I felt more anxious. We were getting closer to Nox pack territory. My home. My pack. My heart beat faster. No matter how much Victor hated me right
SERA'S POV After the tense breakfast conversation with Alpha Jack and his family, I was more than ready to leave. But Lyra, the Alphaâs wife, stopped me gently with a warm smile.âAt least let me prepare a warm bath for you before you go,â she said.I nodded, even though every part of me was uncomfortable. I had heard their plansâ plans to destroy my pack. I knew I didnât belong here, and I needed to leave fast and report everything to Victor. But I couldnât act suspicious or they might guess something. So I followed Lyra without protest. She led me to a large, beautiful bathroom. The bath was already filled with warm water. It was hotter than I expected but perfect for the chilly morning. I stepped in carefully, trying to stay calm even though my mind was racing with panic.Lyra didnât leave the room. Instead, she knelt beside the bath and started washing me like a mother would do to her child. It felt strange. I didnât know what to say or do."You know," she started, "my son was on
