LOGINVICTOR'S POV
I never liked arguments in the morning, especially not during breakfast. But today, Mia made sure I had no peace.
“I won’t take it easy on you if you don’t find my friend,” she shouted at me, slamming her cup down on the table. The maids froze, probably scared we might tear the whole house down.
I dropped my spoon and sighed. Her anger wasn’t new, but today, it pierced me differently. "I don’t know why you care so much about a girl whose parents almost destroyed our pack," I said calmly and took a sip of wine.
"So you’re punishing her for what her parents did?" Mia’s voice trembled, full of disbelief.
I stood up, pushing my chair back. "Her parents are the reason we lost our father. Don’t you get that?" I snapped, louder than I meant to. The maids might’ve heard. I didn’t care.
Mia stood up too, arms crossed, her eyes burning. “Stop blaming her parents for our father’s death. He got what he deserved, Victor. If we’re being honest, we should thank the moon goddess the Skoll pack didn’t come for all of us that night.”
She was right.
But I didn’t want to accept it.
Sera’s father was my dad’s advisor—the most trusted man in his circle. He knew everything. And he used that trust to feed the Skoll pack our secrets. He told them where to strike. How to hit us the hardest.
That betrayal got my father killed.
And years later, I discovered something worse— Sera’s father wasn’t just leaking secrets. He was working with the Skoll pack to take over Nox territory. From the start.
I couldn’t forgive that.
When we found out, I banished Sera’s family. But that wasn’t enough for me. I wanted revenge. Not just for my dad, but for the shame, the loss, the weight I now carry.
So, I did the one thing I knew the Skoll pack hated— stealing their drugs fot the Pack seek.
They don’t care about money. They care about power. And their power came from cocaine and weed.
So I took it from them.
Not for fun. Not even just for revenge.
I did it because we were dying.
Our pack is starving. We’re out of food. Our crops don’t grow. Nothing works anymore. The land is dry, empty, cursed.
No one knows this but me and the farmers. I made them swear to keep it secret so panic wouldn’t spread.
So every time we stole from Skoll, I repackaged the drugs and traded them for food from other packs. That’s how I’ve been keeping us alive.
But the Skoll pack is angry.
And we’re running out of time.
Mia stood up from the table. Her eyes blazed. "Gather a search team to look for my friend, unless you want fire in this house. And for crying out loud, she’s your mate!"
Then she stormed out.
I clenched my fists.
Sera.
I didn’t ask the Moon Goddess to choose her. I didn’t want it. Before all of this— before the truth about her family came out— I loved her from a distance. I watched her laugh. I saw the kindness in her eyes. But I never got close. I was just another warrior then. Just another future Alpha who was too afraid to speak his heart.
And now that she was mine, chosen by the Moon Goddess herself— I rejected her.
I had to.
Because it would destroy the pack. Some of them haven't healed from what Sera's parent betray. So announcing Sera as my mate would bring problem- would bring division. And more than that— I couldn’t let her become my weakness.
A weak Alpha loses everything.
The pack doesn’t know the truth yet— but I’ve failed them. Completely.
The land is cursed. I knew this before anyone. But it became official two days ago when I visited Anna, the pack’s witch.
"I had a vision," she told me.
"What did you see?"
"The land is cursed. Nothing planted will grow. Not until the pack is complete."
"What do you mean, complete?" I asked.
"You’re an Alpha. You need a Luna. Only when the bond is complete, the curse will break."
I sat there in silence. I already knew this in my heart. But hearing it aloud made it worse.
"Attend the Mate Ceremony," she continued. "Accept your true mate, and the land will flourish again."
I nodded slowly.
Then the message came.
Mike.
Once my best friend. Now my enemy. Future Alpha of the Skoll pack.
He sent a letter.
"I know you’re the one stealing from us. And it hurts that your beautiful little sister will pay the price for it too. Expect your death very soon."
I smiled bitterly. Mike had always been smart. He figured it out.
I wrote back:
"If you can catch air, you can catch me."
But I knew this was the beginning of war.
Then came the ceremony.
That night, under the silver light of the full moon, the Moon Goddess chose Sera as my mate.
Her scent hit me like a storm. Her eyes searched mine— hopeful, afraid.
For a second, I froze.
I could feel it. The bond. The warmth. The peace.
If I claimed her, the land would heal. Our people would eat again. We could survive.
But I saw something else too— Mike’s letter. The threat. The warning.
Sera would be their first target. The Luna of Nox. The sister of a traitor.
If I accepted her, I would hand the Skoll pack the perfect key to destroy me.
So I stepped forward and said it.
"You can never be my mate! You can never get my love!"
Her eyes broke. But I didn’t stop. I held her waist, pulled her close, just for a second. And then walked away like she was nothing.
That pain in her eyes— it will haunt me.
But this is bigger than love. Bigger than destiny.
If I want to save my sister, if I want to survive this war, I need to protect myself.
The curse can wait.
SERA'S POV “So, you’ve gotten to the stage where you ask a stranger if I’m telling the truth or not?” Victor asked, his eyes fixed on Mia.Mia didn’t even flinch. “I think so,” she replied, and without another word, she stood up and left the dining room.Victor turned his gaze on me. “Thanks. I owe you,” he said.I didn’t respond. My mind was too busy. I felt uneasy, like a child who had just stolen candy. I had just lied to Mia, my friend, and it didn’t sit right in my heart. I wanted to disappear. I wanted to find the nearest excuse and leave this place before I drowned in regret.“The maids will lead you to the room prepared for you, if you’re ready,” Victor said with a small smile.“I’m ready,” I replied almost immediately. Why would I waste time? The faster I left his presence, the better. Two maids appeared as if they had been standing behind the door, waiting for the signal. They led me down a quiet hallway, and soon we stopped in front of a room. When I stepped inside, I froz
SERA'S POVI never expected that our visit to Anna’s shrine would start with drama. But knowing Mia, anything was possible. As soon as Anna opened the door and let us in, Mia went straight to the point, not even giving Anna a chance to settle."My brother told me there is no solution to the curse in our land?" Mia asked, standing tall and proud like she owned the shrine.Anna froze for a second. I noticed it. Mia noticed it. Even a blind person would have noticed it. That pause was suspicious. Mia narrowed her eyes and asked, "What is that look?"Anna blinked and tried to act normal, but the damage was already done. She had been caught off guard."I never believed he would tell you," Anna finally said, looking around like someone who had just been exposed on national TV. "It was a huge secret.""Yes, it is," Mia said, folding her arms. "So what is the solution?"Anna didn’t answer right away. Instead, she asked another question, which only made Mia's eyes roll like a soccer ball. "Wha
SERA'S POV"Our land is cursed. Anything planted can't grow," Victor said when Mia asked why he had been hijacking almost all of the Skoll pack’s hard drug shipments. The moment he said that, something clicked in my head. For months now, I had hardly seen green grass anywhere within the Nox pack territory. It all made sense suddenly, though I still didn’t want to believe it.“What are you talking about?” Mia asked, her face confused. She clearly didn’t understand what Victor meant. “How are they food when nothing can grow in the land?” she added.“That’s the usefulness of the stealing,” Victor replied calmly, like he was explaining something as simple as why the sky is blue. “I hijack the Skoll pack’s shipments, rebrand them, and then sell them at a cheaper price to feed the whole pack.”Mia stared at him like he had grown two heads. She didn’t believe a single word he said. Her hands went to her waist and she started pacing around the room. That was her thing— she paced when she was
Chapter 6:🧠 BRAINS NOT INCLUDEDMIA'S POVOne thing you should know about the Adams family is that they don’t send warnings quietly. They don’t leave threats behind like puzzles to solve. No, they look you straight in the eye and tell you they’re going to kill you. And once they say it, you're as good as dead. That’s just how they are. You can run to heaven if you want, but even heaven won’t save you. No hiding place is safe. Once they mark you, they’ll find you. That’s the kind of people we’re dealing with. The kind who breathe trouble. The kind who eat death for breakfast. So, I wasn’t mad because Victor had been stealing. No, I was furious because he was stealing from the Skoll Pack— the same pack that caused our parents' death. The same monsters that left us broken and cold.I stood up from Sera’s bed with my blood boiling. I didn’t even try to hide the fire in my steps. I was going to confront my brother. I had no plan, no speech— just rage.“Where are you going?” Sera asked, h
SERA'S POV"You know, I didn’t even want to attend the ceremony," I said, trying to keep my voice steady. My heart was racing. I wasn’t just making small talk — I was trying to distract Mike from asking more questions. Dangerous questions."But my best friend forced me to go," I added quickly, giving a weak laugh.Mike kept his eyes on the road as he drove. His hands were firm on the wheel, his expression unreadable. "You shouldn't have come," he said at last. His voice wasn’t angry, but there was something serious in his tone. "If I hadn’t seen you lying there in the woods, you might’ve been killed. A bear, a wolf… anything could’ve attacked you."I nodded slowly, pretending to be calm. "You’re right. Thank you for helping me. I really appreciate it."Outside, the trees zipped by. The road twisted through the forest, and with every turn, I felt more anxious. We were getting closer to Nox pack territory. My home. My pack. My heart beat faster. No matter how much Victor hated me right
SERA'S POV After the tense breakfast conversation with Alpha Jack and his family, I was more than ready to leave. But Lyra, the Alpha’s wife, stopped me gently with a warm smile.“At least let me prepare a warm bath for you before you go,” she said.I nodded, even though every part of me was uncomfortable. I had heard their plans— plans to destroy my pack. I knew I didn’t belong here, and I needed to leave fast and report everything to Victor. But I couldn’t act suspicious or they might guess something. So I followed Lyra without protest. She led me to a large, beautiful bathroom. The bath was already filled with warm water. It was hotter than I expected but perfect for the chilly morning. I stepped in carefully, trying to stay calm even though my mind was racing with panic.Lyra didn’t leave the room. Instead, she knelt beside the bath and started washing me like a mother would do to her child. It felt strange. I didn’t know what to say or do."You know," she started, "my son was on
