SERA'S POV

After the tense breakfast conversation with Alpha Jack and his family, I was more than ready to leave. But Lyra, the Alpha’s wife, stopped me gently with a warm smile.

“At least let me prepare a warm bath for you before you go,” she said.

I nodded, even though every part of me was uncomfortable. I had heard their plans— plans to destroy my pack. I knew I didn’t belong here, and I needed to leave fast and report everything to Victor. But I couldn’t act suspicious or they might guess something. So I followed Lyra without protest.

She led me to a large, beautiful bathroom. The bath was already filled with warm water. It was hotter than I expected but perfect for the chilly morning. I stepped in carefully, trying to stay calm even though my mind was racing with panic.

Lyra didn’t leave the room. Instead, she knelt beside the bath and started washing me like a mother would do to her child. It felt strange. I didn’t know what to say or do.

"You know," she started, "my son was on his way to the mate bond ceremony when he found you lying unconscious in the woods."

I blinked. Why was she telling me this?

"Really?" I asked, just to keep the conversation going.

"Yes," she smiled. "He was going to find out who the Moon Goddess had chosen for him. But then he came across you— you beautiful girl."

I knew where she was heading now.

“Oh,” I muttered, unsure how else to respond.

Lyra's eyes studied me closely. "So… were you at the ceremony last night?"

I hesitated. My first instinct was to lie. Say no. But then I remembered— she’s a werewolf. She would know. We can all sense lies. We can all feel the truth in heartbeat.

“Yes,” I admitted softly. “I was there. But things didn’t go as I expected.”

Lyra nodded slowly. “I see,” she said. “You know, I always wished for a daughter. But the Moon Goddess never gave me one.”

“The Moon Goddess always has her reasons,” I said.

She smiled wider. “Yes. And I believe she had a reason for letting you and my son meet this way.”

I froze.

"What?" I asked, staring at her, eyes wide.

She handed me a towel. “Please dry yourself. The maid will be here soon with some clothes.”

Then she walked out, leaving me confused and staring after her.

Was she trying to say her son and I are meant to be?

I couldn’t help but smile at her words, even though I knew it could never happen.

Moments later, the maid arrived with a dress. I thanked her and took it. The dress was beautiful— rich fabric, fine embroidery, something you’d wear to a royal dinner.

As I started putting it on, my wolf senses kicked in. I heard soft voices down the hall— Lyra and Mike were talking.

“You should get close to her before she leaves,” Lyra said.

“What if I don’t like her, Mom?” Mike replied.

“You will. She has the body, the pretty face, and I know she’ll give me a grandson.”

My mouth dropped open. What?!

“She’s from the Nox pack, Mom,” Mike added. “An enemy to our people.”

I had just finished wearing the dress when I stepped out from the room.

I looked at them both, calm and unreadable.

“Thanks for the dress, Lyra,” I said quickly. “I love it. I really appreciate it.”

“You should love it. You look beautiful in it. Ready to go?” she asked.

“Yes,” I replied, trying to smile.

“My son Mike will drive you home,” Lyra said. “I sense you two could become good friends.”

I forced another fake smile.

There was no denying Mike was handsome. Strong jawline, calm eyes, and a silent strength about him. But what Lyra hoped for could never happen.

The Moon Goddess had already given me a mate.

Victor.

As we got into the car, silence filled the space between us. Mike drove smoothly, his focus completely on the road. Not a single word passed between us for a while. I wondered if he was building the courage to talk to me or if he just didn’t want to.

Then he spoke.

“My mom said you were at the ceremony last night.”

I swallowed.

“Were you given a mate?”

That question hit me hard.

I wasn’t expecting it. I didn’t know what to say. My hands started to shake slightly.

His voice was calm, but I could feel him watching me, listening to my heartbeat, waiting for the truth.

If I said yes, I knew he’d ask who. And if I told him it was Victor, the same man he wants dead, he might not even let me make it home.

SERA'S POV “So, you’ve gotten to the stage where you ask a stranger if I’m telling the truth or not?” Victor asked, his eyes fixed on Mia.Mia didn’t even flinch. “I think so,” she replied, and without another word, she stood up and left the dining room.Victor turned his gaze on me. “Thanks. I owe you,” he said.I didn’t respond. My mind was too busy. I felt uneasy, like a child who had just stolen candy. I had just lied to Mia, my friend, and it didn’t sit right in my heart. I wanted to disappear. I wanted to find the nearest excuse and leave this place before I drowned in regret.“The maids will lead you to the room prepared for you, if you’re ready,” Victor said with a small smile.“I’m ready,” I replied almost immediately. Why would I waste time? The faster I left his presence, the better. Two maids appeared as if they had been standing behind the door, waiting for the signal. They led me down a quiet hallway, and soon we stopped in front of a room. When I stepped inside, I froz

  • TO THE ONE I SHOULDN'T LOVE   PEACE? IN THIS HOUSE?

SERA'S POVI never expected that our visit to Anna’s shrine would start with drama. But knowing Mia, anything was possible. As soon as Anna opened the door and let us in, Mia went straight to the point, not even giving Anna a chance to settle."My brother told me there is no solution to the curse in our land?" Mia asked, standing tall and proud like she owned the shrine.Anna froze for a second. I noticed it. Mia noticed it. Even a blind person would have noticed it. That pause was suspicious. Mia narrowed her eyes and asked, "What is that look?"Anna blinked and tried to act normal, but the damage was already done. She had been caught off guard."I never believed he would tell you," Anna finally said, looking around like someone who had just been exposed on national TV. "It was a huge secret.""Yes, it is," Mia said, folding her arms. "So what is the solution?"Anna didn’t answer right away. Instead, she asked another question, which only made Mia's eyes roll like a soccer ball. "Wha

  • TO THE ONE I SHOULDN'T LOVE   FROM “I HATE YOU” TO “MOVE IN”

SERA'S POV"Our land is cursed. Anything planted can't grow," Victor said when Mia asked why he had been hijacking almost all of the Skoll pack’s hard drug shipments. The moment he said that, something clicked in my head. For months now, I had hardly seen green grass anywhere within the Nox pack territory. It all made sense suddenly, though I still didn’t want to believe it.“What are you talking about?” Mia asked, her face confused. She clearly didn’t understand what Victor meant. “How are they food when nothing can grow in the land?” she added.“That’s the usefulness of the stealing,” Victor replied calmly, like he was explaining something as simple as why the sky is blue. “I hijack the Skoll pack’s shipments, rebrand them, and then sell them at a cheaper price to feed the whole pack.”Mia stared at him like he had grown two heads. She didn’t believe a single word he said. Her hands went to her waist and she started pacing around the room. That was her thing— she paced when she was

  • TO THE ONE I SHOULDN'T LOVE   BRAINS NOT INCLUDED

Chapter 6:🧠 BRAINS NOT INCLUDEDMIA'S POVOne thing you should know about the Adams family is that they don’t send warnings quietly. They don’t leave threats behind like puzzles to solve. No, they look you straight in the eye and tell you they’re going to kill you. And once they say it, you're as good as dead. That’s just how they are. You can run to heaven if you want, but even heaven won’t save you. No hiding place is safe. Once they mark you, they’ll find you. That’s the kind of people we’re dealing with. The kind who breathe trouble. The kind who eat death for breakfast. So, I wasn’t mad because Victor had been stealing. No, I was furious because he was stealing from the Skoll Pack— the same pack that caused our parents' death. The same monsters that left us broken and cold.I stood up from Sera’s bed with my blood boiling. I didn’t even try to hide the fire in my steps. I was going to confront my brother. I had no plan, no speech— just rage.“Where are you going?” Sera asked, h

SERA'S POV"You know, I didn’t even want to attend the ceremony," I said, trying to keep my voice steady. My heart was racing. I wasn’t just making small talk — I was trying to distract Mike from asking more questions. Dangerous questions."But my best friend forced me to go," I added quickly, giving a weak laugh.Mike kept his eyes on the road as he drove. His hands were firm on the wheel, his expression unreadable. "You shouldn't have come," he said at last. His voice wasn’t angry, but there was something serious in his tone. "If I hadn’t seen you lying there in the woods, you might’ve been killed. A bear, a wolf… anything could’ve attacked you."I nodded slowly, pretending to be calm. "You’re right. Thank you for helping me. I really appreciate it."Outside, the trees zipped by. The road twisted through the forest, and with every turn, I felt more anxious. We were getting closer to Nox pack territory. My home. My pack. My heart beat faster. No matter how much Victor hated me right
