Evelyn's voice snapped me out of the trance I was in and I blinked.

"I heard it's bad luck to see your bride before the wedding."

She applied lipstick and looked at me through the reflection in the mirror with a smirk.

"It's more bad luck if you get married before ever seeing who you're marrying," I replied.

She dropped her lipstick and smiled. She turned around slightly to look at me.
