“ What's going on?”

There was absolute silence. If a pin had fell down, there was every certainty it would be heard. She walked in and met her beloved family in a state of distraught. She was sure they had heard the news already.

“ Nathan honey, what is it? Why are you all seated there like some bunch of robots? Talk to me, somebody.” if there was one thing she was good at, it was pretense.

She threw her shoes on the floor and rested her head on the couch. If they were not going to talk, then she would let them be.

It was difficult to breathe as she felt a sharp pain around her neck. No one had expected it, not even Caryn herself. Nathan held her tightly around her neck, his fingers tightened every second, and his nails dug deeper into her skin. It wouldn't be long before she started bleeding.
