The curse continued to plague Jarckon's life. He remembered the night his mother died in his arms, and the witch's curse that followed—a curse that could never be lifted. A cure might exist, but he hadn't found an answer yet. One thing he knew: Adhara was the reason the curse was getting stronger. He wanted to run away, but he had nowhere to hide. He was tired of hiding in his transformed state, too. The thought consumed him when Adhara woke up.

Jarckon glanced at Adhara, saying nothing, and stared at the glass wall, gazing at the quiet night. Adhara also looked out, watching the midnight sky. The weather was nice; the snowstorm had stopped, and the moonlight brought peace to the whole place. A warm breeze blowing through the trees and plants offered them both relief.

“Why aren't you afraid of me?” Jarckon asked Adhara.

She glanced at him and then looked back outside. She knew Jarckon was bothered by his appearance. She understood the feeling of being pitied. She exhaled and looked

Jarckon hid between the walls when he heard the banging on the door. He felt rattled when he heard the familiar voice. It was Alexius, the Beta. He knew that he had come after him but still wondered what his reasons were and how he had found Adhara’s place. Adhara went outside to face the Beta. She felt nervous and doubtful when she saw the stranger standing in front of her house. For a while, Jarckon could hear her voice, and she looked inside the house. He could hear that she argued with the Beta. She stopped Alexius from coming inside, but Alexius was too determined. Adhara could do nothing, even if she tried to stop the Beta. Adhara ran inside the house, but Alexius followed her and let himself in. Alexius pushed the door, and Adhara stumbled onto the floor. Jarckon kept hiding, not wanting to be seen by the Beta. He could hear Alexius's voice echoing inside the house. He saw everything, how Adhara begged him to leave. When he heard Alexius, he freaked out. He didn’t want Al

“What do you want?” “You know why I am here. I need to talk to Jarckon.” “You shouldn’t be here. It’s too dangerous.” “Huh! Shouldn’t I be the one saying that?” Alexius chuckled. “It’s not the time for jokes. This is for your safety.” “Listen to me. You should stay away from the Alpha.” “What are you talking about?” Adhara tried to appear calm and innocent in Alexius’s eyes. “You know what I mean.” He grabbed Adhara, holding her arms tight. She was shocked, her face contorting in pain as a jolt of electricity shot through her spine, causing her body distress. “Take your hands off me. You’re hurting me.” He pushed Adhara away and looked around the place. Adhara hurried inside and closed the door, but Alexius forced it open to enter. “Let me in,” Alexius begged. Adhara wouldn't let him in. “I told you not to come.” Alexius pushed the door, causing Adhara to crash into the wall and fall to her knees. She tried to get up to stop him, but it was too late. • Tamed by Her Touch   Chapter Forty-Two: Reflection

Jarckon stared at his reflection in a cracked mirror, his figure a distorted mess. He felt on the verge of a breakdown, barely recognizing the image staring back. He knelt on the floor, wishing he could restore his former self, but as time passed, he felt himself transforming into a vicious, wolf-like beast. The curse grew stronger, and he was dismayed by the thought of living as a monster forever. He slammed his head against the wall, enduring the sharp pain. His anguished roars echoed through the room. Jarckon struggled to control the transformation, thick, black fur sprouting from his skin. It was midnight. The air was cold, and the wind howled. Adhara stirred in her sleep, the familiar sounds piercing through her window. She rose from her bed, her bare feet touching the cold marble floor. Leaving her room, she followed the worrying sounds. With each step, her heart trembled with a mix of curiosity and fear. Adhara recognized the sounds from the castle, but they were much l

“BREAKFAST is ready,” Jarckon said. The trembling in her chest grew when Jarckon murmured this in her ear. She could smell his fresh scent, which invoked a desire to kiss him. She turned around and walked toward her dressing room, leaving Jarckon alone in the middle of the room. “I will wait for you.” “Yeah, sure. Just give me a minute.” Her voice wavered. She didn’t know if Jarckon noticed. A moment later, Adhara emerged from her dressing room wearing an oversized shirt that reached almost to her knees. Jarckon smiled when he saw Adhara. She looked charming in his eyes. As time went by, Jarckon developed feelings for Adhara. They grew stronger. He didn’t know when it had started; it had just grown like a flower blossoming in a garden. It was as if everything about him had changed. But one thing he needed to assure himself: he would keep Adhara from danger and protect her, even if it meant giving his own life. Since Jarckon was getting better, he managed things himself as

The wind blows, creating eerie sounds, and snowdrops fall to the ground. The freezing air and icy weather make the whole place feel sad. Jarckon is lying down, asleep; he looks more peaceful, and his pain seems lessened. A bandage is rolled on his shoulder. Adhara placed a cold towel on his forehead to help bring his body temperature back to normal—a simple treatment that offers him some relief. Adhara sat on the couch, looking at Jarckon, thinking about what would happen in the next few days of staying in her place. She looked around as if memorizing every part of the room, smiling when she saw that everything was still there. She walked toward her dresser and retrieved the photo pasted on the mirror. It was her and Slagle, the last photo she had with him. She took it, crumpled it, and threw it into the fire. Adhara looked outside, glancing all over the surface. It was silent and lovely, entirely distinct from the day she had left. She kept staring and watching the snowdrops on the
