Seven

Jason's POV

I swiveled the plush, leather chair as Maisie, my assistant rattled off the list of meetings I had to attend today.

Her pager beeped. "Excuse me, Sir." Maisie said she looked at it.

"Sir, Mrs. Sinclair is here and she wants to see you." Maisie said.

"Send her up." I said.

Maisie started to speak but she was cut off by my mother walking into the office.

"My darling boy, how are you?"

"Mum, what are you doing here?" I asked. An expression of hurt passed on her face.

"I didn't realize that I needed permission to see my only child." Then she laid her bag on the table and sat down.

"I didn't mean it like that. I'm sorry." I said guiltily. "Is there anything I can get for you? Tea perhaps?"

She gave me a charming smile. "Tea is good. I'd like chamomile."

I nodded at Marcie who immediately left to get refreshments.

As soon as Marcie left the office, Mum got up and shut the door firmly. Her smile was replaced by a serious expression on her face.
