Five

Jason's housekeeping crew and private chef arrived within minutes of each other. I showed them the mess in Jason's room and they set to cleaning the room.

The private chef who introduced herself to me as Loveth, asked me about my food preferences before she immediately started meal prepping for breakfast.

I sat at the dining room table, admiring the view and waiting patiently for my food and for Jason to wake up.

Sooner or later he was bound to wake up with all the commotion and noise the housekeeping crew were making upstairs.

"Your breakfast, Miss Landon." Loveth said as she placed a tray laden with delicious smelling food in front of me.

"Thank you."

"I'll be back shortly with Mr. Sinclair's tray." Loveth said and quietly left the room.

I just realized that I l had skipped breakfast and was so hungry. I picked up a fork and dug in.

I was so engrossed in the food that I did not notice Jason standing at the foot of the staircase.

I felt his eyes on me and looked up at him. For a few moments, we stayed like that, staring into each other's eyes.

However, the moment was broken when Loveth bustled into the room carrying Jason's tray.

"Good morning, Mr. Sinclair." Loveth greeted cheerfully.

"Mornin', Loveth." Jason replied in level tones still not taking his eyes off me.

Loveth set the tray on the table and left the room.

"What are you doing here?" Jason asked.

"Good morning to you too, Jason." I said, my voice thick with sarcasm.

Jason rolled his eyes. "I asked a question."

"I came to see you." I countered. "I'm supposed to be your fiance, remember?"

"How could I forget?" Jason asked dryly.

I was annoyed but I tried to hide it by concentrating on my food and ignoring him.

Jason walked to the table and sat down opposite me.

Jason stared at me for a few moments before he said, "Nice dress, it brings out your eyes."

"Thank you." I replied curtly.

"I can bet on my life that you look way better without it." Jason said, reducing his voice to a low, throaty whisper.

He was trying to seduce me, I realized and to my dismay, it was working. I felt my skin beginning to tingle and my nipples starting to harden underneath my dress.

"You think so?" I asked.

"I know so. There's nothing standing in our way, except for the table." Jason said while giving me a predatory look.

I couldn't believe it. Jason was trying to convince me to sleep with him. After everything he and his friends had done to me.

"You cannot be serious." I said while rolling my eyes. "Jason, you had another woman here last night and now you're here flirting with me."

A look of realization passed on Jason's face.

"It was you!" Jason said. "You poured water all over me. I thought it was even a dream."

"Nope. It was real." I said calmly.

"How dare you?" Jason was seething with anger.

"Calm yourself. You haven't even asked about your lady friend —"

"She's not important." Jason said, interrupting me. "Why did you pour cold water over me? Are you nuts?"

"You broke the rules, Jason and I acted accordingly. After all revenge is a dish best served cold." I said, looking at him squarely.

He pointed his index finger at me. "Listen to me you little tease, you seriously don't expect me to be celibate. I don't have to do anything you say."

"I wouldn't be too sure of that if I were you." I took a sip of my coffee.

"What do you mean?" Jason narrowed his eyes full of suspicion.

I smiled. Jason was right where I wanted him. I took my phone out of my purse, unlocked it and placed it on the table before sliding it over to Jason.

"I made a recording." I said simply.

Jason picked up the phone.

"Don't be shy, press play." I urged him.

Jason played the video and the room was filled with sounds from the video.

After a few moments Jason paused the video and smirked at me.

"You're trying to blackmail me with what? A video of me shirtless?" Jason laughed. "Go ahead, release it. It will make the ladies love me more."

"Don't be so fast, watch it till the end." I replied to him confidently.

Jason played the video again. The more he watched, the more angrier he became. His fists were clenched and when the video was over, he banged them on the table.

"Delete this, now!" Jason said angrily.

"Not in a million years." I said.

"I'm serious, Davina." Jason said while lowering his voice. "Get rid of this now or I will."

I shook my head.

Jason stood up forcefully, knocking over his chair and strode out of the dining room. I followed him immediately.

Jason went to the balcony of the penthouse and hurled my phone over the railing with all his might.

Then he turned around. "There. All gone."

I couldn't help it. I burst out laughing.

"Oh, Jason. You're so predictable. The videos on my phone are backed up. Also, I've sent copies of it to trusted friends for safekeeping."

Jason was stunned.

"This arrangement is supposed to help build back your image to the board at your father's business so that you can take over."

I smiled. "I wonder what would happen if they find out that you are a staggering drunk."

"Watch it, Davina." Jason said with a warning tone in his voice.

"No, you watch it!" I said fiercely. "You either follow my rules and help me repair your image or I destroy it completely."

"You haven't even announced to the public that we are together, not to even talk of being engaged."

"One of the board members is hosting a charity event tomorrow night, we'll go there together and you'll play the part of a doting boyfriend." I said with an air of finality.

Then I started to walk away before I stopped. "Oh Jason?"

"Yes?" He said rubbing his temples.

"You owe me a new phone." I said, then I walked back into the dining room, took my purse and headed out of Jason's penthouse feeling triumphant.
