Someone Born Blind

Finally, the event of a lifetime came to an end. Mr. Wilson and his youngest daughter went home in a sour mood. They met Isabel sitting on a stool, lamenting at the corridor leading to the main entrance.

Seeing the sour mood on their faces, she knew something must have eventually happened. Isabel stood up to welcome her father, and she did so, glaring at her sister who she called a snitch.

"Let's go inside first." Mr. Wilson said before dashing inside the house and sitting comfortably on the couch.

All his plans had fallen. They had called in crumble and this wasn't the way it had wanted it to be.

Diana left the house and didn't follow them inside. Isabel couldn't wait for her father to finish his short rest so she can fill him with questions.

"Father, what happened at the banquet?" Isabel asked after seeing that had father was ready to answer any questions thrown at him.

Mr. Wilson shook his head in disapproval, all that had happened didn't sit well with him. At least, his daughter would benefit from it but the process of getting married to the blind prince would bring shame and disgrace upon his daughter he pitied her greatly but he couldn't do anything because he wanted to gain some benefits from the king as well.

"Diana would be getting married to the last prince." He said with his head bowed. This wasn't a piece of pleasant news. His daughter would be the laughingstock of the people if it goes viral.

Isabel laughed out loud. Here she was thinking that her sister would be her rival. This was so ridiculous. She imagined her sister getting married to a blind prince...blind... someone born blind. She could have the crown prince all to herself now.

Meanwhile, her father had an ugly expression on his face. Why would she laugh in a situation like this? He wanted to ask but restricted himself from doing so.

"Isabel, the King promised to establish your sister's business and here you are idling your life away." Just like that, he stood up to leave.

The girl who had been rejoicing now boiled in anger. She hated her father for insulting her like this and comparing her to Diana. Well, that didn't matter to her, as long as she could have the crown prince to herself that won't be a problem, she could deal with Diana later.

On the other hand, Diana had gone to meet her lover. She was with her fisherman lover at his old modern house.

She knew she wouldn't live a decent life with him but it didn't matter to her. All she wanted was to live a small and happy life and they would build up their wealth together.

Charles was an average-class fisherman. He distributes fish to the village markets and earns some income from it. He was satisfied with whatever he had and that was one of the reasons Diana loved and adored him.

The young maiden was at his house just to break the bad news of her getting married to the blind crown prince against her wish.

"The king has promised to establish my business only if I get married to the blind prince," Diana revealed.

The man called Charles was sad. He couldn't risk losing her to anyone but now his rival was from the Royal family.

Can't a poor man be happy?

She was his only happiness and the Royal family wants to take her away from him.

There was nothing they could do to subdue it. If Diana disagree to marry the last prince at a given time, she would be beheaded, and sentenced to death.

"Don't worry about it, everything is going to be fine." He assured her.

Diana was more worried, she was the victim here and nothing was going to be fine.

"Would you be happy if I die of negligence? I'm telling you this so we can find a solution to it." Diana said throwing a tantrum.

The man couldn't blame her because she had a heavy cross to carry on her shoulder and he was supposed to help her share it.

"I know, it's just that I can't compete with the Royal family. And it was bad for them to match make you with the cursed blind prince." Charles blurted.

Diana was stunned by his words, she felt like giving him a dirty slap for spitting out those words.

"You can't compete with the Royal family. Does that means you aren't going to fight for your love?" Diana was in dilemma, he was acting strange, and this was unlike him.

Charles heaved a sigh and held her palms with his on top of hers. "Diana, that's not what I meant. I would fight for my love at all cost but the Royal family...are just out of the line."

"We need to plan on something. I would be killed after I exceed the given time." There was a sign of panic in Diana's voice and her fisherman lover wasn't doing anything to ease it.

The man just stared at her. He was speechless and short of words. Nothing reasonable came out of his mouth as he thought food would ease his or panicking.

"I made a nice and delicious barbecue grill for you." The man grinned.

Diana slapped his hands away from hers. She was so annoyed right now that all her thought was good when her life was at stake.

"You're just thinking about food when my life is on the line," Diana yelled.

"Do you want me to die for you?" He retorted. Diana's eyes widened at what she had just heard from him.

The man felt guilty for overreacting and thought he only asked if she could eat out of goodwill. To his surprise, Diana stormed out of his house, leaving a loud thud from his door. He stared at the exit door where she had just passed before sighing in frustration.

What did she expect him to do? He can't die for her!

Meanwhile, Diana sat close to the fountain that was a few meters away from her lover's house to cry. She sobbed bitterly using her palms to cover her face until someone gave her a handkerchief to wipe off the tears away from her face.
