CHAPTER 1 | Mark Me!

"Cara, come on... come on! You can do it!" shouted someone encouraging me.

I was now at the highest adrenaline level, even more excited. I grabbed a bottle of vodka and drank it down.

"Done!" I shouted. The bitter taste from the vodka was accompanied by a shout of victory. My friends responded with their own shouts of triumph.

"Wow, you did great, Princess!" My friends shouted with excitement.

The noise in the VIP club room was also a problem. Making me even crazier at the moment. I smiled upwards. Then I celebrate by raising my hands in the air. I dance with Flo and Delora, my friends who joined me at the party tonight. I hug them all for about five minutes until they finally let go of my embrace.

The moment of relaxation is interrupted by a man who appears from behind me.

"Having fun, Cara?" He said in his deep baritone voice. The scent of tobacco mixed with ocean musk enters my nostrils. That whisper could make my body shiver and stiffen slightly.

Then I slowly turned my head back to look at the figure, which had a scent that I recognized very well. At that moment, my blue eyes widened when I realised who the man who was standing behind me. Our eyes meet.

He was tall, dark, and handsome. His black hair and hazel eyes complimented his white shirt, that made him look like a model in the magazine. He had the body of a Greek God with an athletic figure. That man wore tight jeans, a leather jacket, and boots. He had a tattoo of a heart above his right shoulder blade.

"I got here as fast as I could. It's great to see you at this party, Cara." He smiled at me as he spoke.

I don't know why but I feel like my cheeks are heating up right now. Probably because of the alcohol I drank, right?

"It's so nice of you to come," I said as I bowed politely. "Zelos," I added coldly afterwards.

Then I turned my face away and walked away from the handsome man. I didn't like being around Zelos, even though he was very handsome!

Ignoring Zelos, I chose to rejoin my friends. Partying and getting drunk. Of course, the more important thing was getting close to my precious boyfriend, Kai.

Kai is a werewolf who joined the hunting team. He is a member of one of the best hunters in the Sinclaire pack. Kai and I have been in a relationship for almost two years. Despite the disapproval of my father, Alpha Archer De Sinclaire, I still didn't break things off with Kai. I love Kai a lot.

"Cara!" called Kai with a big smile. He spread his arms and give me a hug.

"Kai!" I embrace him. Kai's body was so athletic and very comfortable to hug. He had brown hair with dark blue eyes. The soothing scent of wood is also my favourite.

"I missed you," I whispered.

Kai chuckled at my whispered. "I missed you too, Princess," Kai whispered right in my earlobe. I greeted him with pleasure.

The intense tension between Kai and I due to the influence of alcohol also made us drunk with each other. This is also what prompted both of us to choose to separate ourselves from the crowd and try to find a room for ourselves. We are now kissing each other deeply and wildly. Hugging each other and trying to find hot spots that might make the atmosphere even hotter.

The intense feelings and the dim lights make us both lose our minds. Trying to get deeper and more intimate.

"Cara," Kai growled in a husky voice. It's obvious he's now at the highest point of the tension he's been holding back. I realised that.

Kai kissed my slender neck, which had become an addiction for him. I groaned at the stimulation. I also responded by smiling and playing with his hair. I was sure, now I was under Kai's control and we were lying on the bed now.

"Cara, are you sure wanna do this?" asked Kai in a heavy voice.

I'm not answering that. I just closed my eyes and enjoying his touch.

"You haven't reached your age yet. You haven't even met your wolf yet."

Hearing that, I opened my eyes slowly. My blue eyes that blended with the grey, could see his face that was already blushing faintly. I stare at him with a faint smile.

I raised both my hands to cup Kai's cheeks. I gently opened my mouth and said, "The day after tomorrow is my coming-of-age ceremony, Kai. I will turn eighteen and experience awakening. I will meet my wolf," I said. "And I believe that you are my mate, Kai."

Kai was stunned at my words. His eyes softened with the darkness of tension. "What if I'm not your mate?"

"Then, I will choose you to be my mate!"

Suddenly, after hearing my answer, Kai kissed me again. He kissed me deeply and hard as if there was no tomorrow. As if we couldn't wait.

After a while, Kai broke our kiss and said with a stern look on his face, "It's your birthday in two days. You're old enough to know that mating without a mate is impossible, Cara. I want this to work between us. For our families, for our partners..."

"For us," I replied and my smile faded quickly. "I've been thinking about this, Kai. Every time you try to force yourself on me, I think that it's my destiny to be with you forever. That's why, I won't marry anyone else. Not until I'm ready to meet my wolf. Until you accept me," I said.

I could see Kai's eyes trembling. I know that Kai must be confused right now. How many times had he tried to show me that he wanted to marry me after a legal mating. Kai just wants to do it right because he loves and respects me more than anything. I know and realize that for sure!

However, I didn't want to wait that long.

"But Cara—" Without waiting for his words to finish, I cut him off immediately.

"Don't tell me that you're thinking of doing it after marriage. We're not kids anymore, Kai. I'm going to marry you and you're going to mark me. We'll be a mate. If we don't get matched soon, I'm afraid I'll never be able to do it." Cara stated. "So please, let us try everything to keep us together. We love each other so much, don't we? Mark me, Kai!"

I feel like Kai is conflicted right now.

I know he wants nothing more than for us to be together forever, like I do. But at the same time, we know how powerful the forces of fate are. Our fate is determined by fate. What kind of people we would become, when the time came, was not determined by our own choices and will. So, sooner or later we have to accept that fact. That's what we fear the most.

"I understand, Princess," he said, his voice breaking slightly.

He placed his hand on my cheek. "I love you," he whispered.

"I love you too, Kai," I replied with tears starting to fall. Then I wrapped my arms tightly around his waist.

We stayed in that position for a while until a loud bang on the door startled us both.
