CHAPTER 3 | The Strongest Wolf

I had now completely transformed into a wolf. With swift movements, I ran to all sides. Attacking all the warriors who charged towards me in unison. The sounds of battle and the smell of blood filled in the air. My eyes, which glowing a menacing yellow that pierced through any warrior’s soul, began to stare wide-eyed. Sharpening every snapping of my teeth that were ready to tear through anything.

The remaining wolf warriors snarled again. Their wide-open eyes full of rage and sharp teeth filled with spittle, began to show their anger.

Then, quickly, the wolf warriors charged at me from all directions. I roared and growled loudly.

When the wolf warriors approached me, I nimbly jumped to the side of one of them. I bit the neck of one of the wolf warriors and broke its bones. The sound of bones breaking sounded so horrible and cruel.

It was obviously very easy for me to kill all of those wolf warriors. I was the second strongest werewolf after Alpha Archer in the Sinclaire Pack.

I'll be hard to kill, even if they've been practicing for years. The fact that I am a powerful wolf also further enhances my image and makes me a feared wolf. At least I'm like a beast and cruel creature that has transformed. I felt like I could tear someone apart with just my bare teeth.

Because I am Zelos Caelestus Cyrus.

— Zelos —

After killing all the warriors from other packs that dared to intrude on our territory, I returned to human form.

Obviously, my now-naked body was also stained with blood from the battle.

"Looks like they sent some pretty weak units this time, huh?" said Anders, my friend, who is now the leader of unit one in our pack. He is the second son of Gamma Ducan.

Anders, who had been watching my battle with those wolf bastards, stepped over and handed me a black cloak. I take it.

"Too weak to intrude into our territory. There's no way Codrus would send a weak unit like this into our territory. They know how strong we are," I replied while walking away after wearing my black cloak. Anders followed behind me.

"You're right. And this is a plan too cowardly for Codrus," Anders replied. "What are you gonna do about it?"

The Codrus Pack has been enemies with our Pack, the Sinclaire Pack, for hundreds of years. The two packs have always feuded over the western border of their territories.

The Osiris continent has four largest and most powerful clans that control the North, West, East, and South. Sinclaire Pack controls the North, Codrus Pack holds the West, Hellion Pack reigns in the East, and Silas Pack is the lord of the South.

"Just leave it alone," I replied briefly. Anders and I had now arrived at one of the posts on the western border of our territory.

"What? You're really gonna spare them, Zelos? They've dared to enter our territory!" screeched Anders, who didn't accept my decision. At least now I hold the position of Vice Beta. As long as our Beta pack couldn't do his duties properly, I'd be the one to take over his responsibilities.

I nodded in response to Anders' rant. Then I grabbed a wet towel that had been prepared by one of the post guards.

"I'm not letting them go, Anders, at least for now. Wouldn't it be better to bait them and then pull their heads down? It's too easy to just avenge what they've done this time. They'll always be able to cut off their tails and escape. How petty."

Anders nodded. "You're right. So, we'll just have to catch them alive after this, right? Because I'm sure they'll definitely send more units to enter our territory since the ones they sent now will never be seen again."

I smiled wryly in response to Anders' words, who understood what I meant. Of course, after this, those bastards, Codrus, would be wondering since one of their warriors didn't come back and report anything.

"Hahaha... as expected, you are the strongest wolf in our pack, Zelos! Besides being strong, you're also a genius strategist!" Anders laughed proudly, as if this were an easy thing to talk about.

"Mind your language, Anders. Do you intend to die for betraying our Alpha?"

"What? Of course not, you idiot!" snapped Anders, who immediately stopped his laughter and looked at me sharply. "Obviously, our Alpha is also very strong, but since our Luna died, her strength has weakened. And you are the second strongest person after Alpha Archer."

"I mean," Anders said immediately, "At least we have a strong and intelligent wolf like you in our generation! It's a blessing from the Goddess for our pack!"

I just chuckled softly in response. Yeah, since that incident—the tragedy ten years ago—made us lose our Luna and She-Beta.

"What brings you to me, Anders?" I asked, glancing at him. I also took a sip of water.

"Beta Jackson, your father, called for you," he replied. "It seems he has something serious to talk to you about."

"Just me?"

Anders nodded. "Yup! He wants to meet you at his castle. And just the two of you."

I frowned at the report. Ever since the death of my mother, She-Beta, my relationship with my father has deteriorated. We rarely even spoke to each other. But this time, that old man wanted to see me?

'It seems he has something to say to you, Zelos,' said Kyros, my wolf.

'That sucks!' I swore.

'But what does your father want to talk to you about?' Kyros murmured  as if he were also surprised because this was the first time Beta Jackson had called me personally. My father always sent his men if he had anything to say. Not this kind of one-on-one meeting and talk.

'Is this something about his conversation with Alpha Archer last time?' Kyros added.

Hearing that, I was even more lost in my own thoughts. The conversation between Alpha Archer and my father, Beta Jackson, was quite long. The two of them only talked privately.

But no one could guess what they were talking about.

"Alright, I'll see him!" I said to Anders.
