CHAPTER 5 | I'm The Worst

— Cara —

Right now, the castle I live in is quite crowded. This is because the preparations for my coming-of-age party are very close. Tomorrow is the day I will become an adult, and I will meet my wolf!

But it's all too noisy. I've been locked up in this castle all day for the past two days.

Early in the morning, I came out of my room. I'll totally freak out if I don't go out even a little bit.

I walked down the stairs. I'm agile enough to move quickly. At least I was in the mood to go to the academy. I'll finally be able to breathe some fresh air.

But I immediately slowed my steps when I saw something so disgusting. Making me stiffen with a very sharp and cold gaze. Staring at the two people who were kissing.

"This room has a picture of my mother, the deceased Luna!" I said it sternly. That made the two people gasp in shock. They immediately broke off their intense kiss and turned to me.

"Cara," muttered Aninna Smith, the former Luna and wife of the previous Alpha, the older brother of my father, deceased Alpha Dominic.

Alpha Dominic De Sinclaire was the older brother of my father, Archer De Sinclaire. But five years after Alpha Dominic led the Pack, he died in a war with the Codrus Pack. That left his younger brother, Archer De Sinclaire, who was the strongest wolf after Dominic, to take the throne and become Alpha.

But since then, my life have been shattered. Everything turned into hell for me.

"Cara, you're awake already—"

"You're fucking shameless! No, but you two guys are the worst!" I snapped, cutting Madam Aninna off.

"Cara, mind your mouth!" scolded Alpha Archer.

I, who had gotten a hard yell from him, turned my head. Staring coldly at my father and chuckling. "Then mind your disgusting behavior!" I snapped fearlessly. "At least mind your manners in front of my mother's memorial picture! Can't you respect her even if it's just a picture?"

Then, with a rough footstep, I stepped down the stairs again and walked past those two disgusting people. But before I actually left, I immediately looked back at them. In which Madam Aninna had already lowered her head in shame.

"Madam Aninna," I called out, and I made her raise her gaze to meet mine. "You're no one now here, if you haven't forgotten. You're just the former Luna and my father's sister-in-law. Nothing more and nothing less. And if you don't want to be a shameless bitch, wouldn't you rather leave this castle, Madam?"

"Carassa Del Sinclaire!" screeched Alpha Archer with high tone.

I gave him a crooked smile as if he were hurling insults. Then I glanced at my biological father, who was gritting his teeth and narrowing his gaze at me, because I was insulting his lover.

"I'm just telling you the facts, My Lord. And it seems Madam Aninna doesn't know the etiquette about it. I was just reminding her," I said calmly, and smiled faintly.

Then, without waiting for any reply, I bowed to the two most disgusting humans in front of me and actually stepped away from this damn place.

I'm in the car now. I was heading to North Werewolf Academy to return to the course that I had left for a few days. But my father was getting more and more strict with his men.

My gaze was focused on the view outside the car. I sighed softly and rested my head against the windshield. My mind was racing.

Not only that, but my heart also felt great pain again. Because I remembered my deceased mother, Naiya Sinclaire.

She was the deceased Luna, the fated mate of Alpha Archer, my father. But my father's heart was not set on my mother with his whole heart. Because his love was divided.

Before he was married to my mother, my father was the second son of the Alpha of the Sinclaire Pack, my grandfather. He would not inherit the Alpha's throne because it was already prepared for his brother, Dominic Sinclaire.

My father at the time had a girlfriend—a woman he was deeply in love with. He even planned to make her his chosen mate, as she wasn't the mate that the Goddess had chosen for him.

But all his dreams and love ended when he met Naiya, my mother, who was also his fated mate. Because of that, my father was forced to accept his fate and part ways with his girlfriend.

Not long after, his girlfriend was chosen to be the next Luna. She married my father's own brother and became the chosen mate of his brother, Dominic Sinclaire.

After Alpha Dominic's death and my father becoming the next Alpha, he became insane and the most asshole of men. Because he had hurt my mother, he betrayed his own fated mate just to get back together with his past love, Aninna Smith.

As a result of that betrayal, my mother felt life was like hell. The pain of being betrayed by her mate was the most painful and deadly thing. As a consequence of that misery, my mother died. She died in a terrible tragedy ten years ago.

That ironic tragedy really turned my whole life into hell. It was as if everything I had, had been taken away by force.

Loneliness.

The feeling of being betrayed and even wasted.

My life was really so empty and miserable.

Not only was my father taken away by Madam Aninna, who made my mother die, but my protector as well. The man I had thought of as the only man who would protect me in the future.

The man who always smiled warmly and understood me when I was in the worst times of hell due to my parents' problems.

My protector had been taken away by my sister, Celine Avyana Sinclaire, who was none other than the daughter of Aninna and the deceased Alpha Dominic.

"Celine, you are the most graceful and beautiful woman. You are the best and will be the next great Luna."

Remembering the words Zelos, the man who protected me back then, said softly to Celine, made me smile wryly.

"And I'm the worst," I muttered softly.
