LOGINAfter Ruelle Altagracia finds out that her boyfriend is cheating on her with her sister, she goes on to hit his older brother too. Xerces Miller is the epitome of perfection. No wonder her ex envies him so much, for he always gets everything he wants, from his family’s attention since they were kids to personal achievements. Even the girl he used to like ends up liking Xerces and not him. Ruelle thought having Xerces would be the best revenge she could ever give him. The only problem she has is the fact that Xerces isn’t like the other men she can easily win over with her charm and schemes. He seems to be irritated by her presence, as he can’t even keep his eyes on her for more than a second. However, that isn’t enough to discourage her. Determined, Ruelle will do everything she can to get him.

Xerces Miller, the epitome of perfection, was now standing before me, with his ripped six-pack abs in full view. He had just gotten out of the shower, holding a towel and drying his wet hair. “Good morning.” I smiled at him. I didn’t wait for him to invite me in and just went inside on my own. “Get the fuck out of my house.” I ignored him and strode toward the kitchen. “I’m thirsty.” I grabbed a glass and walked over to the fridge. But before I could open it, a hand grabbed my arm and stopped me. I looked at Xerces and met his blazing, angry eyes. “What? Can’t you be generous even for once? It’s not like I’m a stranger to you. Come on.” I wiggled my arm to pull free of his grip. He let go, but the darkness in his expression didn’t fade. “I just want to drink some water.” I opened the fridge and took out a pitcher. I poured myself a glass and drank. “Why? Don’t you have water at your place?” I shook my head. “They haven’t delivered yet,” I lied. I just wanted to see him today. “Fine. Drink and get the hell out of my house, and don’t ever come back.” I leaned against the refrigerator and looked at him intently. “You look sexy,” I rasped. Xerces is my ex-boyfriend’s older brother, Gavin. We were in a relationship for almost two years until I caught him cheating on me with my sister. So now, I wanna have my revenge by hitting on his brother. All of his family members liked me, except for this man in front of me. He has always been so aloof toward me, and I didn’t know why. I can still picture how he looked at me like he wanted to tear me apart the day my ex introduced me to his family, as if I’d done something wrong. I never even heard him say my name once. I guess he hates me that much. In those two years of our relationship, Gavin had told me how much he envied his brother because Xerces always got everything he wanted. “Do you hate me?” I asked casually. The answer was obvious, but whatever. He didn’t answer and just held that hard stare. I couldn’t read what was going on in his mind. “Why do you hate me? I’ve always been nice to you, haven’t I? I’ve started conversations with you many times, but you always ignore me. Tell me. Why?” I pressed. I’d known Xerces longer than I’d known his brother. We’d been neighbors for five years—we were just college students back then. Meanwhile, I met Gavin three years ago. I was surprised to find out that the grumpy, hot guy living across from my apartment was actually his brother. “I just don’t like you, that’s it.” “Too bad. I like you.” I winked. “Too bad for you too. There’s no way in hell I’d like you back.” “Really?” I took a step closer to him. Slowly, I let my hand glide across his chest sensually. “Is it because of your brother?” I asked again. “We were over for almost five months. Come on. It’s not like you care about bro codes, do you? That’s so pathetic.” He didn’t answer. “Why don’t you try dating me? Hmm?” I suggested. “I think we could be perfect for each other.” I wet my lips and gently bit them. I saw his eyes follow the motion of my lips. His gaze darkened. His Adam’s apple moved as he swallowed. “No. We won’t,” he said, his tone firm. “Really?” I lifted the glass to my mouth and drank the rest of the water. I deliberately let it spill, trailing from my chin and soaking into my shirt. His eyes dropped to my chest. I knew my bra was visible through the white tank top I was wearing. “Oops, sorry. Would you mind drying it for me?” I purred. He avoided my gaze. Since his face was turned slightly to the side, I could clearly see his jaw move. His breathing had gotten rapid. I chuckled flirtatiously. “Just kidding.” He walked out of the kitchen, so I dropped the glass in the sink and followed him. “Get out and go change at your place.” He sat on the living room couch, one leg draped over the other. I was dressed in a plain white tank top and tight black shorts, having just come from a jog. I sat down on the couch opposite him. I ignored the sharp glare he was giving me. “Why? Are you bothered? Or tempted, maybe?” I said teasingly. “In your dreams.” “Oh, sure. Just to let you know, you’re naked in them most of the time.” He grimaced, and said, “Fuck off.” “Could be better when it’s ‘fuck you.’” Xerces is the most boring man I’ve ever hit on in my whole life. Yet, I couldn’t deny the fact that he gave me a kind of excitement and thrill no one else ever had. I returned home and lay back on the bed, staring at the blank white ceiling. I’ve been trying to seduce him for months, and it was so obvious he doesn’t give in easily. I came up with this plan to get even with Gavin for what he did to me. Dating other men after him, particularly his brother, would definitely provoke a reaction, knowing he used to tell me how much he envied and hated his brother. I want to prove to him that he was never the only option for me. Maybe it’s just my ego, but what the fuck do I care? But I know deep inside that I am doing this in the hope that he’ll get jealous and want me back eventually because I know I’m still not over him.“Happy birthday,” I said as I handed him my gift.He took it, smiling warmly. “Thank you, Ruelle.”His gaze shifted to the side, landing on Xerces. I had to elbow him subtly, just enough to signal him to say something. I even caught the soft, annoyed exhale he let out.“Happy birthday,” he muttered flatly.I frowned at the tone, which sounded more like he was commenting on some unfortunate news than celebrating.I nudged him again, quietly whispering, “Smile.”He ignored me, so I forced myself into a small smile instead. Apollo chuckled faintly at my effort.Seraphina approached us, radiant in a blue dress that flattered her figure and highlighted her flawless skin.“Happy birthday,” she said to Apollo, her voice light and airy.Apollo smiled gently and thanked her. They exchanged a few words before she faced us. Her face lit up the moment her eyes landed on Xerces. She stepped closer and hugged him war
After a while, some of his friends started leaving the table, heading off to find girls they could flirt with. Soon enough, only the three of us were left. “Wanna dance?” Zeus asked. I nodded without hesitation. I’d already had a bit too much to drink, and the dizziness was starting to set in; my vision was slightly blurred. Good thing Zeus quickly wrapped an arm around my waist when I stood, steadying me before I could lose my balance. “You good?” he asked. I held onto his arm for support and gave him a small smile, assuring him I was fine. “How about you, dude? You really gonna stay here all by yourself?” Zeus teased. I glanced at Xerces. He was sitting with one leg crossed over the other, idly playing with the rock glass in his hand. He didn’t even bother looking at us. “I prefer it that way,” he replied curtly. “Suit yourself.” Zeus pulled me tow
I walked over to the bar counter and slid onto an empty bar stool, ordering a drink right away. My eyes wandered around the place. Some people were lost in the music, their bodies moving wildly on the dance floor. Others were pressed close together, too busy making out to care about anything else. A few stayed in the corners, focused on their drinks and quiet conversations. I had just finished my second glass when someone came up beside me. “Hey there, gorgeous.” I looked up and saw a handsome guy holding a drink. Even though I knew I looked good tonight, I still glanced around just to make sure he was actually talking to me. When I confirmed he was, that was the only time I responded. “Yes?” “Being alone doesn’t suit someone as pretty as you,” he said smoothly. I didn’t really mind being alone tonight, but since he was already here, I figured, why not entertain it?
Before heading to work, I stopped by Xerces’s house to get something from him. Unlike in the past weeks, he opened the door almost right away. His features were relaxed and composed, which only happens once in a while.“You’re gonna eat here again?” he guessed, leaning against the doorframe.I let out a small laugh and shook my head.I hadn’t had breakfast yet, but that wasn’t what brought me here. Lately, I’ve been feeling like I’ve been gaining weight, so I figured I should start cutting back.“I’m on a diet,” I told him.His brows drew together. His gaze slowly traveled from my head down to my feet, then back up again.“In that body?” he asked, a hint of disbelief in his tone.I pouted a little. Was he saying I was already fat?“I’m just here to get a kiss.”“Kiss?” he echoed, clearly thrown off.I nodded, stepping a little closer. “Did you forget we’re supposed to kiss more often?”He frowned slightly, as if he were trying to recall when we even agreed on that. It didn’t take long
That night, I brought some alcohol to his place. It was actually my friends whom I invited first for a drink, but they declined, saying they were busy. The good thing was that Xerces lived just across from me, so I could pester him anytime I wanted. “I’ve got a deal. We’ll compete on how many drin
I stopped by a café to grab coffee before heading to work when I suddenly bumped into someone. The cup tilted in my hand, but thankfully, the coffee didn’t spill on his clothes. When I looked up, I was met with a familiar face. “Altagracia?” His face lit up. “It’s nice to see you again.” My brows
My gaze went past him. Xerces was standing there, his hands in his pockets, and his eyes were cold as he stared at us. Gavin tilted his head toward Xerces’ direction. One side of his lip lifted, as if he were not pleased. He let out a low, mocking laugh. “So here comes my fucking scheming brother.
Gavin’s expression darkened as his eyes fell on Xerces’ hand wrapped possessively around my waist. “We’ll go ahead,” I said. “Let’s go, love.” We turned our backs on them and walked away. Once we were sure we were out of their sight, Xerces finally let go of my waist. I found myself oddly disappoi
