Chapter 14

I can’t bring myself to answer Weston. My emotions are vivid, and I know how I feel, but the words won’t come to me. Weston seems to realize this, too, and huffs. “I never thought you were a coward.”

His words irritate me, but not enough to make me shut up even if I should, “Well...now you know better.” Why am I biting the hand that feeds me? Stupid, stupid, stupid!

To my relief, Weston doesn’t bite back. Neither does he do something stupid, like demanding I leave his mansion because we had a disagreement. He is more mature than that and scratches his neck.

“You can sleep in my bed,” he says, looking down at his feet with a frown on his face. “I will take the floor, I guess...”

“Aren’t there any guest bedrooms?” I ask. It would feel terrible to steal his bed when I’m just grateful that he took me home with him in the first place.

“Yes, but—” I’m not entirely sure, but it looks like he is blushing. His expression, however, is so grumpy that it’s easy to miss the faint red
