I dread the day I have to face my old pack without Weston’s protection. It’s been a week since the drama between me and them, and the only reason I haven’t seen them is because I’ve been attending seminars that I don’t share with my pack. And don’t tell Weston, but I’ve been skipping the classes I share with Janice. Just to be safe.

“I’m so excited for the game tomorrow. With our new quarterback on the team, maybe we stand a chance of actually winning,” a girl says further down the bleachers. I smile when I realize she is talking about Weston.

My Weston.

I blush and keep watching him run on the field. He is good, very good—I’m proud of him.

He darts from side to side, avoiding contact and tackles like it is second nature, his impressive physique propelling him forward with perfect grace. He slings the ball around with ease as he commands his team, barking orders that are quickly followed. His face is serious, but there’s a glint in his eye—one of determination and ambition.
