Meryn

I find Weston on the football field, and for a minute, I temporarily forget that I came here on a special mission. I want to ask him why he never told me he is betrothed, but the sight of him blows me away.

The sun is casting a gentle glow on his tan skin and blonde hair, which makes him look like a mythical god in the middle of the grassy field. He is sprinting around with a huge grin on his face, looking like he is the king of the campus.

It’s not fair how pretty he is. My brain cells are currently skydiving out through my ear one by one, leaving me staring—no—gawking at Weston. Plenty of other girls are too, and they are all prettier than me. How the heck did the guy take a liking to me, of all people?
