LOGIN[Nineteen years later.]
"Have you seen him yet?" a lady asked curiously as she tried pushing the heads of her friends out of the way so she could have a look at the dashing prince charming. "Stop pushing me away. He isn't here yet. Moreover, he is simply passing by. It's not like he is going to stop anyway." "I have heard about how gorgeous and attractive he is. He is the strongest warrior ever, and many elites won't stop trying to woo him for their daughters." "Funny to think we would end up with him as his wife." The talk continued growing, and the screams went the highest immediately after he was sighted on his horse, galloping towards the route where they had all converged to see him. "Oh my goodness, he is so handsome," a lady pretended to faint. "How can a man look this gorgeous?" a man muttered with annoyance as they watched him disappear further from them. "You must be so jealous of him. I bet the Alpha and the Luna hid him for so long from the rest of the world because of how devilishly handsome he is." ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Valen stopped at the gate and got off his horse. The guard standing at the entrance welcomed him and led the horse to its stable while he walked into the house magnificently. His attention was immediately brought to the grunts and shouts coming from his left-hand side, so he turned towards the route instead. He got to the training ground, and what he saw made him smirk. The pack's warriors were training under the sharp eyes of their one and only strict and stern Alpha, Draegon, his father. They were relentlessly tackling each other, hoping for a win over the other, while Draegon watched them intently, looking out for a mistake. His eyes caught sight of his son, but he didn't instantly pay attention as he stood in the middle, barking out orders, correcting stances, and pointing out weaknesses, too. Warriors sparred in pairs, some already bruised and panting, others still standing tall and ready for more, and without a word, Valen stepped closer. One of the warriors noticed him and nodded in greeting. “My prince,” he said, panting. “Want a turn?” Everyone turned to look at him. Not everyone had a chance to fight the Alpha's son, as he was skillful in art and war. For the few of those who had fought with him, they had great testimonies to give of his mightiness. Valen only smirked. “Bring someone ready,” he said, pulling off his outer layer and stepping onto the dirt floor. The man stepped back and motioned to another warrior with broad shoulders, a proud stance, and good balance. Valen faced him and Alpha Draegon stepped aside confidently to watch his child, and then the sparring began. Valen moved like the wind, quick, quiet, and sharp. His strikes weren’t just strong, they were smart. He dodged without wasting a breath, twisted with ease, and swept his opponent to the ground in a blink. He didn’t stop there. Instead of walking away after his win, he offered his hand to help him up. “You lead too much with your left. It gives away your next move,” he said calmly. "Keep your core steady. You’re strong, but you use your power without focus.” The man, red in the face from both the fight and the advice, nodded quickly. “Yes, my prince.” Who would have thought that he was only nineteen? Another man came forward, then another. And Valen trained with them all, pushing, blocking, striking, then pausing to teach. His voice stood firm but calm, his movements smooth and exact. He taught them without pride, but with purpose. Every mistake was a lesson, and every bruise was growth. The warriors respected him not just because he was strong, but because he made them stronger, too. Alpha Draegon stood at the edge of the ground, arms crossed, watching the prince move like a shadow through the field. His eyes held pride, though he kept his face calm. He was his greatest secret and his greatest strength. The warriors know him as the strongest male in the pack. After a while, Valen stepped back, rolling his shoulder and letting the others continue training among themselves. He walked to where his father stood, and without a word, he walked with him a few steps away from the rest . They stood side by side, watching the warriors spar. “You’re teaching them well,” Draegon said, his voice low and proud. "We are all learning from the best after all." "They’re learning fast,” Valen added, eyes still on the field. “Some more than others.” “Still,” Draegon remarked, a faint smile touching his lips. “None can match you. You are the greatest asset that I have.” Valen didn’t reply. He didn’t need to. He simply chuckled and let his fingers brush through his eyes. "Where is Mother?" he finally asked. "She is supposed to be inside." "Okay, Father, I will go and check on her." "Alright." He had not made his way any further when he was suddenly pulled into one of the rooms, and the door was shut behind him. He was going to reiterate, but after seeing who it was, he relaxed. "Mother?" he called out. "Where have you been, huh?" Seraphim said, scanning his body for any signs of injury. "I was on my way, looking for you." Valen rolled his eyes. "How can you just be walking around carelessly? Don't you know..." "It's important for me to stay within the four corners of the house because it's the safest for me." Valen completed the words and sat down, spreading his legs wide. "Valen!" "Calm down, mother. You are getting too paranoid. No one will know I'm a woman. That's been secured already, so stop getting scared," he smiled at her mother, but Seraphim was still not relieved. "All these are your father's fault. He came up with this disastrous idea, and now look, he has turned my flower into an iron and a stone! She can't even behave courteously." Valen rolled his eyes again as he listened to her mother continue with her unstoppable rant, as usual. Someone urgently knocked on the door, interrupting them afterward. "Come in." Gray entered. His eyes were red, and he looked apprehensive. Valen noticed this and quickly stood, making his way toward his mother while shielding her with his muscular body. "What is it? Are you about to lose control?" Gray shook his head and waved a letter as he tried to get his words out, "The Lycanis... They sent a message. They are coming!" he cried out. Seraphim took the sealed letter and tore it. Her eyes swept through the scattered words on the line, widened, and she gasped out in shock before covering her mouth. No, this can't be. Not now. No, they can't come now. What Valen met on her arrival was unexpected. The palace had become nothing but a shadow of itself. She transformed from her wolf form into her human form. She hoped that Rhydian would see her and recognize her. Multiple times she fell. She cried out for help but these werewolves and Lycanis were busy beating each other. The Lycanis were gaining the upper hand. They were tearing the werewolves, killing them like chickens. Every side she turned to, she couldn't see the light She cried her eyes out. Her screams were overpowered by the growls of war. "Please listen to me! Listen to me! You don't have to fight! The main aim was to solve this issue. We wanted to create an alliance. Let's stop fighting!" She shouted, but despite how loud her shouts were, they also affected her vocals; they wouldn't listen. She got into the palace with scratches, but there was no one inside the palace. It was totally empty. There were blood stains on the ground. She didn't know who it belonged to.
"Raphael." "It must be nice seeing me again." The man shrugged, "At least I think so. My dear foolish brother." Raphael was Rhydian's older brother, the one who had been cast out by their father. They were of the same father but different mothers, and Raphael had never once hidden the fact that he hated Rhydian so much. He had been after life and well-being right from childhood He pushed him into the water when their parents were looking. He sent snakes to his room and he got bitten by them when he was asleepDuring a fight practice, Raphael had once tried to strangle him, shouting that the palace and the Lycanis blood had no place for an imbecile like him. That he was a taint to their growth as Lycanis. All of his behaviors got to the King, and when he attained the age of eighteen and would not give up, he was banished, and the King passed on the title to him. Ever since then, he has been the King. He tried his best to look for his brother and reconcile with him becaus
"Thank you for keeping my secrets," Valen said to Star as they awkwardly met that evening. Star, after hearing the rumors about Valen's arrival quickly came over as soon as she could. "It was...it was the least I could do after what has happened between us. I wanted to speak with you the last time and tell you how sorry I was but by the time I came here, you were gone. I hated myself. I...For a few days, I couldn't behave like myself anymore. I hated that. I am so sorry, Valen. I feel so ashamed even imagining that we were once best friends. I wasn't there for you when you needed me. I didn't support you. I didn't..."Star began to sob. Valen pulled her in for a hug. "I understand you, Star. I have always understood your stand on this issue. I just thought that there could have been a better way to handle it than creating a scene or fighting like we did but I am glad that we are now on good terms with each other." "Does this mean that you have forgiven me?" "Of cou
Upon getting to the people, the fight ceased and the guards stepped away. "Oh, what a misfortune that has befallen the people. You even have your guards against us! Oh, the great Lycanis Kingdom has fallen. Waging war against its own people." The faint-looking man lamented. "My people, what is happening? Why the sudden gathering?" Rhydian asked gently. He had never had his people come over to him. Even if they did have a few problems that needed solutions, they sent representatives. They didn't come with the intention of waging war against him. "Who are you to go to the werewolves and beg?" Someone shouted. "How dare you even make decisions on our behalf, huh? You have been the king for so long, and now you're getting power drunk, isn't it?" The faint-looking man chuckled sarcastically. He was talking and behaving as if he had been intoxicated. "Watch the way you speak. This is the King. " "Hey, shut up!" The man rebutted Aldridge, "Who made him one? Who
Knock. "Come in." Draegon's voice sounded, his voice a bit louder, complementing the chilled air surrounding the pack house. The door was pushed open and Valen showed herself. "Father." She called out softly. "Can I please speak with you?" "Valen, I am not in the mood to discuss this issue with you, okay?" Valen entered the room fully and closed the door. She played with her fingers behind her back as a way of relieving her tension. Draegon just finished cleaning up his wounds and was in the middle of tying his bandage. Valen moved closer to him and held his hand, stopping him from continuing with what he was doing. Draegon looked into her eyes. "Here, let me help you with it." She kept her voice low and soft. Draegon couldn't refuse her, at least not when she was pulling this trick on him. He knew how down he could be when she decided to act this way. But he still tried to maintain his cool. He sighed and looked away, leaving the bandage to her. She hel
That night, Valen didn't go back to meet her parents. She was too tired and unbothered to do so. It was like someone took her only piece of happiness and smashed it to the ground. This wasn't the life she wanted. This was not the result. She folded her legs while sitting on her bed. There was a knock on her door but she didn't respond. The door crept open and her mother's face popped in. She was carrying a tray of food. For a few seconds, she stared at her distracted daughter before entering the room. "I thought I should bring you dinner." She spoke up and walked over to the opposite side of the bed to put it down. After that, she turned to leave but then stopped. She fidgeted with her clothes for a few minutes before asking her daughter. "What kind of relationship do you have with the King?"Only then did Valen pay her attention. "What other kinds of relationships am I supposed to have with the King?" "Valen, don't pretend like you don't know what I'm talk
