Soren was quite blunt. "You're just a soft and weak Omega. You would have died last night if it weren't for me. But… Our Alpha seems to be interested in you." If I were not aware of the truth, his words would probably have cheered me up. "That's why your job is to seduce our Alpha and satisfy his needs. I'll help you out with everything else."

To be honest, all I cared about was my life. After all, the Alpha was infamous for his brutality. Soren seemed to have read my mind, because he continued saying nonchalantly, "If I can get you to stay by his side, I have the means to protect you."

I blinked at Soren while considering how truthful his words were.

However, all I did was work up the courage to push open the door to Lucian's office and smile as I repeated the words Soren taught me to say, "Good morning, Alpha. I'm here to bring you a delicious breakfast."

Lucian was busy with his work and did not even have the time to look up at me. "Put it down."

He barked orders like a true Alpha. I exited the office obediently to see Soren standing guard at the door. "How was it? Did you tell him that you were the one who made the coffee and breakfast?"

I shook my head innocently, but it only incurred Soren's disapproving glare. "You're pretty useless, aren't you?" I had worked hard the day before by reading up everything I could from romance novels, which informed me that CEO-type men like Lucian loved pretty little women like me who were pure and innocent. How was I supposed to seduce him when he refused to even look at me?

Besides, I was too scared to approach him, as the first thing he would do when I got near him would be to kill me. After that, I was sent to Cindy for lessons. That afternoon, my coat was removed, and I was only allowed to wear my white shirt, which showed off my curvaceous body. Cindy instructed me arrogantly with her pinky held out, "Your collar… Go lower, yes, lower it further. All right, you can go in now. Remember, wear as little as possible, and make sure your tone is always sweet and sultry."

Tsk. Was this the art of seduction? I knew how to do that. I pushed the door open to see Lucian resting his eyes. For some reason, my knees buckled the moment I stepped into the room, despite working up the courage to go forward with this. I regretted everything the moment I closed the door behind me.

"Ilyra Silvermane? Why are you still alive?"

He remembered my name! I was done for. His voice was chilling to the bone, and I felt my knees going weak. That was when I lost my footing. Half of my body fell onto his face as I tried to explain in a fluster, "Would you kill me if you knew I was here to seduce you, Alpha?"

I could not believe I was so scared that I ended up confessing just because Lucian was so intimidating. I was supposed to be hired legitimately to be his personal secretary, but my brain went haywire, and I ended up choosing an explanation that would guarantee a worse death for me.

Great. I did not need Lucian to kill me because now I wanted to run headfirst into a wall to end it all. I looked up in exasperation as I was not brave enough to look down at his face. There was silence for a while as I did not hear Lucian saying anything to me, and my voice trembled while asking, "Will you let me live if I begged you not to kill me, Alpha?"

Lucian seemed a little angry as I could sense him releasing his Alpha Aura. I kicked about wildly while trying to stand, but my efforts were unfruitful. That was when I suddenly felt warm breath on my breasts, and it gave me goosebumps all over.

"Are you trying to suffocate me?!" Lucian pushed me so hard that I flipped over onto the sofa. He stared at me with clenched teeth.
