Chapter 3

Lucian retracted his Alpha Aura, but I was too humiliated to even look up at him. My mother told me before that I must have been jabbed in the head when as a baby because there was no other explanation for why my brain worked in such a wacky way.

Lucian was heaving when he ordered me icily, "Get out!"

Oh yeah! He did not order my death! Embarrassment was nothing if I could stay alive. I quickly nodded, "Yes, Alpha!" Lucian must have decided to spare my life because he did not give any other orders. However, he called out to me after I took two steps toward the door. "Wait."

My palms were sweating when I forced myself to turn to him. "Do you need anything else, Alpha?"

Lucian leaned back lazily into his chair as he casually scrutinized me. "Do you plan to walk out looking like that?"

I looked down. Yikes! I did not notice I had two buttons undone. Cindy had gotten me to change into skimpy lacey lingerie that made my already curvy body look even more seductive. I turned away from him in embarrassment as I quickly buttoned myself up. "I… I'm so sorry."

Lucian scoffed from behind me, "Is this a tactic of yours? Hah! How cheap."

That was never my intention! However, the only way I dared to express myself was with fallen shoulders. I coughed softly and said, "Thank you for the compliment, Alpha. I'll get lost right now."

Soren was waiting for me at the door as usual. He could not stop smiling when he saw me walking out of Lucian's office. "Is there any progress?"

Was it considered progress that I almost suffocated Lucian by pressing my body against him, and forcing him to kiss my cleavage? I pulled my collar tight. "I don't know if this is considered progress, but…"

Before I could finish my sentence, Lucian roared so loudly from his office that I could feel the tremble in the air. "Soren Andulf! Get into my office right now!" Soren's smile froze on his face, and it even looked a little like he had died a little.

It made me worry for him, but all Soren did was flash me a forced smile, "It's fine. I can handle it." Soren took a deep breath, and when he pushed the door open, I could almost picture a hero marching into battle, ready to face death. Next, I heard loud smashing and crashing noises from the office. It sounded really intense.

I initially thought that Lucian was only particular about scent, but it seemed like he was extremely against getting himself a mate. However, Soren was so determined to get him a mate that he was willing to risk being beaten to death by Lucian by getting me to seduce him. I was forced to sign a three-month contract to work as Lucian's personal assistant.

For the next three months, I would follow Lucian everywhere for work in the daytime and dutifully fulfil my responsibility as a personal assistant. When he did not need to entertain clients at night, I would remain by his side when he returned to the pack to sashay in front of him when he most required my services.

For example, making him cocktails every night or creating scents to help him with his sleep. Soren even went as far as to make me tell bedtime stories for the Alpha.

Despite feeling appalled about this, Lucian accepted this service. He would fall asleep very quickly whenever I was by his side. After that, I would sneak glances at his sleeping face. Lucian was very good-looking, and I found myself feeling less afraid of him compared to when I first met him. When he was sleeping, he did not look as bloodthirsty and sharp as when he was awake. In fact, he looked quite the opposite, exuding a docile charm that made me feel protective of him.

It was only natural to feel that way for him. Constant fights would break out among the packs, and as the Alpha, he had to protect his pack while managing this company at the same time. After all, the company was the only way for us to assimilate into human society if anything were to happen to us.

Lucian was the only pure-blood Alpha in the pack, and every one of us only saw how much power he wielded, but no one paid attention to the immense pressure he faced. I could not believe that I started to empathize with his situation.

Waking up every day was like a dream to me. When Lucian was in a good mood, he would let me tag along to entertain clients, but I could not hold my liquor despite being a wine brewer. Take tonight, for example, when my Werewolf tail popped out after having too much to drink. I was sprawled on the ground by Lucian's feet.

I was lying on a thick rug made from the fur of deep-sea beasts, which felt warm, soft, and velvety like water. My tail swept across the rug, giving me a comforting feeling like warm water washing onto my palms. However, I felt weak all over, and my body burned with desire, and Lucian's laid-back voice sounded like an aphrodisiac.
