Chapter 5

Lucky Fairy
Soren told me that every female Werewolf wanted to be a Luna. Yes, becoming the Luna was one of my KPIs.

Lucian leaned toward me thoughtfully. By then, my brain had stopped working, and all I knew was that he had silently consented to more intimacy. I could not wait to get nearer to him to breathe in every scent emanating from his body. Lucian nuzzled the contours of my neckline and gently brushed it.

The coolness of his touch was a release to me, and I moaned involuntarily from the arousal of his soothing caress. Lucian gulped heavily, and his tail popped out to reach me, but it jerked away suddenly as if it was burnt, trying to hide the desire buried deep within him. The dazed look in his eyes vanished, and he spoke with a tinge of coldness, "Ilyra."

He suddenly called out to me, but I was too enthralled to notice and could only stare at him blankly. "The only reason I agreed to keep you by my side is because of a bet I made with Soren. If you fail to seduce me into marking you as my mate within three months, I will exile him from the pack's territory."

The glazed look in my eyes cleared up slightly, but my mind was still a complete puddle. I failed to notice the condescending look in his eyes. "What if I succeeded?"

Lucian lifted my chin with his thumb to force me to look at him. He suddenly burst out with soft laughter. "Do you really think I would want an Omega as my mate?" What the heck? Not only was he looking down at me, but he also belittled all the hard work Soren and I put in. This chilled me to the core.

"I understand. I promise never to see you again once the three months are up." I stood up silently and forced myself to reply in a calmer tone than his. "Soren is very loyal to you. Please don't exile him, and I swear I won't reveal anything that happened within these three months."

Lucian was stunned by the sudden change in me, and a look of fluster flashed in his eyes. "I don't mean…"

"I'm sorry, Alpha. Do you happen to have any heat suppressants?" I interrupted him. It was that moment that I realized I was stronger than I thought I was. I could maintain my dignity no matter how much in distress I was. I was able to suppress my heat cycle and handle things calmly, even though it felt unbearable. I forced myself to stop my teeth from chattering and fight against my drunken stupor to prevent myself from going too far.

It was strange that I felt particularly horrible at this moment when I should have been used to being looked down upon for more than twenty years. I could no longer tell if I was feeling awful from sadness or from my relentless heat cycle. My heart was restless, while my veins throbbed so hard that it hurt. I promised myself that I would reward myself handsomely after I got through this challenging time.

Lucian stared at me as the look in his eyes darkened. He summoned Soren with his mind-link, and Soren appeared uneasily in front of Lucian in less than two minutes. "There's a better way to handle this, Alpha." Everyone knew what Soren meant, but Lucian ignored the suggestion and got Soren to hand the heat suppressant to me.

I took it eagerly and injected myself in the back of my neck without hesitation. Phew. I was saved. The glaze over my eyes slowly cleared, and I glanced at Soren and Lucian. One of them looked exasperated, while the other looked a little regretful. I had no idea what Lucian was feeling regretful about. He was the Alpha, and I was just a useless Omega.

"It's been an exhausting night. Can I skip your bedtime story tonight?" A look flickered in Lucian's eyes, and he nodded gently. I turned toward the door without hesitation and headed to the neighboring building. Soren had previously bent the rules by arranging for me to stay in the same building as Lucian, making it easier for me to seduce him. The building next door was where the Omega servants should be staying. That was where I belonged.

Superior Werewolves loved making fun of inferior Werewolves like us, and we had no way of fighting back, which was why they were the ones who determined when this game would end. All I had to do was dutifully complete the mission that was handed to me.

My feelings, my pointless stubbornness, and even my life, were all decided by one word from Lucian. I should have died on the night I first met him, and not be greedy to ask for more. All I had to do was to stay alive and be well, that was all.

That was all there was to my life.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you because of my arrogance. Your bloodline and heritage don't matter to me at all. I said all those things because… Because…" Lucian looked a little embarrassed as his ears started to turn pink. "It's really difficult trying to control myself when facing your seduction every day. I would say hurtful things sometimes to try to push you away, but I want you to stay longer by my side at the same time. I'm the Alpha of our pack, and situations like the yacht exploding a few days ago, and other random ambushes happen all the time with me. I'm scared that I can't protect my Luna, just like how my father lost my mother." My bewildered mind seemed to clear up slightly as I looked at how much he was acting like a helpless child."But when I found out that you were serious about repaying Verge with your body, I almost went crazy. I… I don't want to be scared anymore." Lucian started to feel embarrassed when he saw how brightly I was staring at him. He coug

Lucian kicked the door open as he stared at Verge and me with rage in his eyes. Verge hugged me tighter in his embrace and smiled cheekily. "Lucian? Looks like you're jealous that Ilyra chose me.""What are you talking about?!" My eyes widened as I turned to look back. Huh? Where did Soren go? Instead, I met Lucian's eyes and saw him staring at me possessively. Why did it feel like I was cheating on him when he was the one who allowed Soren to deliver me into Verge's arms? What did this act of his mean?Lucian strode forward to pull me out of Verge's embrace. He gave me to Verge, and was now trying to snatch me back. What did he think I was? A plaything? I slapped Lucian angrily as all my bottled-up emotions from the past few days erupted. "Don't touch me! I don't want to play this stupid game with you anymore!"He looked at me in disbelief. "Ilyra?"I clenched my teeth. "Verge is right. I chose him." I circled my arms seductively around Verge's neck, but he backed away warily inst

Lucian's face fell, and his grip on my hand became harder. The werewolf in front of me had saved our lives, and it was only fair that I littered him with flattery. "Of course! You're the most handsome werewolf I've ever met, Sir. Thank you for saving my life. I promise to repay you one day."The werewolf leaned over to look at me with intimidation. "How about being my mate as repayment?" Was the world outside changing too fast for me? This was a little too fast-paced for me, especially when I had not even learned his name. Lucian's voice lowered in warning, "Don't overstep your boundaries, Verge Ginwulf." Vir…Gin Wolf? I could not help scrutinizing the werewolf in front of me.Verge's expression changed, and he coughed awkwardly. "Please allow me to introduce myself. I'm the Alpha of the Silvermoon Pack, Verge Ginwulf." Oh, he was an Alpha just like Lucian. My interest in him decreased right away. "I'm also the CEO of Eternal Group. What do you think, Miss Silvermane? Are you willi

Lucian dragged me forcefully into the sea.Glug, glug, glug!Flames erupted from behind us. It was scary, but it also had a familiar tinge of excitement.Back when I was in Werewolf Academy, I was number one every year in swimming competitions and would occasionally give swimming lessons to pups at swimming pools to earn some pocket money. I ended up saving a lot of money that consisted of currencies that could be used in the human world and the Werewolf world.I wanted to travel the world, I wanted to have a mate bond with a male Werewolf, I wanted to… There were so many things I had not done. I wanted to live. I had to live. However, the hand that I was pulling seemed to be dragging me back. I kicked hard and strenuously in the water, but I seemed to be sinking even deeper. What was Lucian up to?! I spun around to check, and darn it! He had passed out. Luckily, Soren had been watching over us from behind like a guardian. Otherwise, I would have gone under the water with Lucian.

Lucian started taking me everywhere he went for the next few days, and I had no chance of slacking off. He even dragged me along to international waters for negotiations with his competitor. Fine, I decided to forgive him on account that the negotiations would be held on a private yacht. I decided to see it as a company-paid vacation.I stood against the railing and opened up my arms to welcome the sea breeze. There was infinite blue in front of me, and seagulls flew past us in the sky above. Several dolphins chased after our yacht in the seawater. I had never seen anything like that before, and I screamed in excitement while turning back to say, "Lucian, Lucian! Look! Dolphins!"Lucian came over to me slowly with his hands in his pockets. He smiled as he looked at me. "Are you finally cheered up?" I nodded and made him hold my phone to take pictures of me. "Make sure I look good in the pictures. I'm going to post them on my social media accounts."Lucian was taken aback. "I thoug

The next day, I appeared in front of Lucian to fawn all over him as usual. I was hired to be an actress, and I was a professional about it. "Have a taste, Alpha. The coffee was freshly ground by me today." Lucian leaned back in his chair and glanced at me. There were dark rings beneath his eyes. It looked like he had spent a sleepless night, and he looked even more moody than usual. "This is your KPI too, am I right?" I had no idea why Lucian was so obsessed with my KPI. I pursed my lips and replied, "Yes." For some reason, he looked even more upset than before, and he burst out saying, "So, seducing me was just to stay alive and to achieve your… KPI? Am I that unattractive to you?" Oh, he was unable to sleep because he thought that he was unattractive. I opened my mouth to say something, but no words came out.Lucian shut his eyes in defeat and pretended to be angry with me. I decided to ignore him. This was just a game. Whoever took it seriously would end up losing it. After a
