Chapter 1

Lucian Moonshadow was an Alpha who took over the reins of the Dark Shadow Pack at age twenty-seven. At thirty, he conquered two other packs and merged them with his. Lucian was known as the Dark Shadow Conqueror, and in the human world, he was the Alpha renowned for establishing the Bluefang Group.

I first met him during a party celebrating the merger of the packs he had conquered. His Beta, Soren Andulf, was on stage giving a speech about Lucian's heroic conquests. As for Lucian himself, he sat quietly in a corner, drinking Wolf Blood Wine. The partly hidden Werewolf tattoo on his collarbone, printed against his fair skin, made him look wild, but I did not dare to give him a second glance.

Everyone knew how ruthless Lucian was. Any attempts at getting into his bed or seducing him would only end in brutal death. I allowed my imagination to run wild, and by the time I snapped out of it, I realized Lucian was beckoning me to him. I went over carefully with the wine tray in my hand. The nearer I got to him, the more intimidating it felt. I could feel the Alpha aura around him.

My nervousness got the better of me, and I tripped, splashing a huge bottle of liquor onto his elegant suit. Oh no! "I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!" I quickly went on my knees and started wiping the liquid off him. I could feel his anger without looking up at him. The more nervous I was, the more flustered my movements, and I accidentally brushed his crotch, which caused Lucian to take a sharp breath. My heart nearly stopped at the same time.

Lucian grabbed my hand as he said icily, "You're dead."

The speech on stage stopped abruptly as every Werewolf present turned to look at me sympathetically while whispering amongst themselves. "She's a goner. Our Alpha looks enraged. That Omega won't live to see the sun." I was so young! I prayed that nothing would happen to me. However, the fear got to me, and I passed out from the agitation, falling right onto the Alpha's crotch.

Lucian, "..."

When I opened my eyes, I was lying on the sofa of the Alpha's house. I was still alive! I did not stay happy for long because I next heard a discussion between Lucian and Soren.

"Alpha, you should let that Omega stay here."

The Beta was pleading on my behalf. Love him.

"No."

The Alpha was heartless, just as I thought. Hate him.

"But she's the only Omega whose scent doesn't repel you. And didn't you get excited because of her?"

Did my scent really attract Lucian when I was serving him wine? Did he really get a boner because of me?

Lucian sounded angry when he retorted, "There's no way I would mark just any Werewolf for the pure reason of satisfying my desire! Our pack's Luna cannot be an Omega as weak as her!"

"But…"

"There are no buts. That darn scent can't seduce me. I'm ordering you to throw her out right now!"

Oh no. It sounded like I could not escape death. After that, I heard their muffled footsteps getting further and further away from where I was. I continued pretending to be unconscious as I shut my eyes tight. That was when I heard a sigh right by my ear. "Sigh. He can't continue staying abstinent like this. He's getting more and more unpredictable these days."

Yes! That was right! Keep me alive! I was still useful! That voice was silent for a while before it continued muttering, "Why must you be an Omega? Tsk." Was I hopeful for nothing? "I guess it's better to keep her around for now." My life was spared!

What a rollercoaster ride. I found out that the Alpha was very particular about scent, which was why he hated it when female Werewolves approached him. It sounded like I was the exception, but… He was not planning to acquire me as a potential mate. I had to figure out how to stay alive.

The room was filled with the scent of lavender, and it made me drowsy. The most important thing right now was that I was still alive, and I decided to sleep it off first.

I was woken by incessant chattering around me. I was in a daze when I opened my eyes, and I saw many Omegas surrounding me. They were looking at me curiously while they gabbed endlessly. "Big boobs. Someone gave me a light slap, and I gave a startled shout before sitting up. The Omegas scattered away, and I saw Soren standing behind them with a document in his hand. "Ilyra Silvermane, twenty-four, works in the pack as a wine brewer, pup nursing specialist, psychological counselor, perfumer…" He looked at me with approval. "You know quite a lot."

I scratched my head. "We, Omegas, are this way. We need to learn a little of everything."

Soren did not seem happy with my attitude. He slapped the document closed and said officially, "You're well-suited to be the Alpha's personal assistant."

"Huh?"

"Your job is simple. All you need to do is prepare his breakfast and coffee in the morning, remind him to constantly drink water in the afternoon, and make sure to drink on his behalf whenever someone toasts him. When you find an opportunity, you can pass out in his arms…"

Wait a minute. Something must be wrong with my hearing. That does not sound like the job of an assistant. It sounded more like… Was he trying to get me to seduce the Alpha?
