Maya POV
'Do you have any idea who our mate is going to be?' I asked Melissa my wolf, who only appeared to me that morning and has been extremely impatient. 'Only the moon goddess makes the arrangement, we only can hope that he and his wolf are nice people.' Melisa responded, giving me more anxiety, as I stared at the clock. It was only a matter of seconds before the strike of midnight and a period where I knew my mate would come looking for me. The door suddenly opens and I turned around to see the Alpha's younger brother Lewis step inside the room with a smirk plastered on his face. "The things I have always waited to do to that sweet body of yours." I could see the lust and desire in his eyes. I stepped backwards, but he was quick to tackle me to the bed. "Please don't do this to me!" I pleaded as he ripped my night gown. "So soft..." He squeezed my breasts, while I struggled to get away from him. "You don't know how long I have waited for this." He added. I felt a strong force inside of me, my wolf Melissa had slowly taken over and in that moment I could see the horror in his eyes. He tried to get away, but I watched Melissa hold him by the neck, driving my claws into his chest while I watched in horror. Lewis dropped off my body and fell to the ground in the pool of his own blood. I took control of my body and stared at my hands that has been covered in blood. What have I done! "What is going on here..." The door opened and Alpha Thomas barged inside the room with my sister behind him. "You killed Lewis! You killed my brother!" He leaned down to examine his body and look up at me. At the stroke of midnight, the large bell at the pack's Central area went off and my heart beat increased realizing I had formed a connection with the Alpha. "You fool!" He growled and walked down over to my side, holding my arms aggressively while giving me a glare. A huge spark erupted the moment we touched and he let go of his hands. This cannot be happening; I looked at my hands and then back to Alpha Thomas. I could feel the overwhelming joy in Melissa as she keeps shouting the one single word that I never believed I could hear. 'He is our mate! He is our mate!' She keeps repeating. “I see you’ve finally gotten your wolf,” he sneered, his eyes dark with fury. “And now you know that I am your mate. I was actually looking forward to this day, but right now, the last thing I’ll ever do is let a murderer like you become my mate!.” His words struck like a whip across my soul, stealing the breath from my lungs. My wolf, whimpered in my chest, curling back into the shadows. “Now,” he growled, voice low and venomous, “you will receive your rejection, before I punish you for killing my brother.” My knees weakened as the weight of his words crashed into me. My heart broke into a thousand jagged pieces as the dream I’d clung to for a long time, the dream of meeting my mate and finding peace in his arms, crumbled into dust. “I, Alpha Thomas, reject you, Maya, as my mate,” he declared, each word like a blade slicing through the fragile hope I had left. My wolf whimpered louder, twisting in agony within me. I stood frozen, unable to breathe, unable to speak. At my hesitation, his hand shot out and tangled violently in my hair, jerking my head back. “Say it,” he snarled, his breath hot and bitter against my cheek. “Accept the rejection.” Tears welled in my eyes, blurring everything, but I forced the words past the knot in my throat. “I… I, Maya, accept your rejection.” He let go of me as if I were filth, shoving me backward with a disgusted grunt. I stumbled to the cold ground, the sting of rejection washing over me like raw, endless fire. “Now, I will teach you what it means to cross my path—and above all, to kill my brother.” “Guards!” he bellowed. The door swung open, and several soldiers marched in, eyes cold and unreadable. “Seize her,” he ordered. “Throw her into the dungeon.” I turned to my sister Sarah, trying to beg her not to allow them take me away, but she did not look at my face. * Crack! My eyes were closed as I absorbed the lashes from the pack soldiers. I was a total mess and I believe I will not live forever with this treatment. "For years the pack has lived in harmony and you think you can come and create chaos with your actions?" Another whip touched my bare back and I screamed out loud in pain. "That will be enough." I slowly looked up from the ground at the familiar voice of my sister Sarah, who had entered the room. "I did not think you will be able to kill him." She mentioned, after the soldier had left the room. "What are you talking about?" I asked. "I have always known that you were going to be mates with Alpha Thomas." She revealed, lowering herself down to meet me. "How is that possible?""Because he keeps mentioning your name while we were having sex!" She said out loud and grabbed a few strands of my hair, so she could look at my eyes. "Did you think I would let my Alpha come and be with such a miserable looking sister like you?"
"What did I ever do to you?" I asked her, more tears dropping down from my eyes.
"I had to speak with Lewis about this and seeing that he has always taken an interest in you, I gave him the permission to have his way and do what he pleased with your body. I did not think in the slightest moment that you would kill him." "I am your sister, you are supposed honor me and the decision made by the moon goddess." I explained to her. "I cannot watch you take away my man from my hand. That stupid mate bond of yours will never be a thing with the Alpha." Sarah stated. She let go of my hair and got back to her feet. "Now that I know that the Alpha would no more than desire of you again, I can finally contemplate my marriage with him and trust me it is going to be a special one." Melissa was angry, but I had to control her so she does not cause more chaos than the ones already available. "You will not get away with this I promise!" "You are the murderer sweetheart, Alpha Thomas would always believe everything that I told him, I have the keys to his heart now." She laughed like a maniac before heading out the door. My life was a total ruin, I could only hope to the moon goddess to save me from my predicament. As the soldier stepped inside to continue flogging me, I knew there was no going back. My death has been signed and I could not tell how much longer I will be able to hold this pain down.Alpha Williams' POVI was good as new when I sat down for rest but movement was form of torture worse than fierce battle. My head shot back, holding in tears, screams and moans as a maid dug her fingers in-between my veins and bones, massaging the clogged muscles.“Alpha, does it hurt?” She questioned when my legs shook involuntarily.I suppressed the daggers in my eyes, “Just… a little.”“Apologies. It has to be done.” She coiled her fingers into the balm next to her. “I'm… almost done.”Her hands returned to my legs, ice cold and squishy as she smeared the balm over me. I pressed my eyes tight, my lips tied together as my head shot back over the chair. The pain coming stung inside my brain.“Just a couple more.”“Here and there.”“Alright, we're done.” Her tiny fingers slid off me, wiping gently across the rag beside her. “You'll feel swollen for a bit then after a while, you'll be better.”“Thank you.” I sat straight, “I appreciate this.”“You're welcome. It's so good to have you
Maya's POV“We’ve been circling that tree for the last one hour. Where the heck are we?”The forest didn't feel so empty with Melissa back. I shifted a couple of times just to be sure. She was.But with her renewed energy came more focus on me— on the path we took.“I've tried walking in this direction.” I pointed to the dense part of the forest, the darkness thicker than a fog. “This is harder than I thought it would be.”“We should try running on trees.”“Good idea.”Melissa took over quickly, in one moment, I was fully wolf, she sprang up onto the tree next to us, latching with her claws that buried deep into the trunk.“See anything?”“Nothing yet.”“Try harder.”Melissa sniffed the air for any sign of life, nothing. She skipped a few trees in the direction of the darkness, the deeper we got, the more confusion flickered inside us. With a low growl, Melissa gave up. She shifted back to me, lowering to the floor.“I give up.”“That was fast.” “Yeah. I can't take it anymore. You do
Alpha Williams’ POVThe first thing I felt when I woke was the weight of the world pressing against my chest… not pain, not confusion… just awareness.Air filled my lungs like it hadn’t in years. My breath was fresh enough to ice.My fingers twitched before I even knew I could move them. The room was bright but then my eyesight returned fully and it dimmed. My nose twitched next, the smell of herbs roamed in the air. My wolf whispered my name.“Balor.” I gasped in disbelief, this time the words echoed sound. “You're back!”“Thank goodness.” His cocky attitude was back too. “What's that?”Herbs. The smell of herbs pressed a chokehold on me. My insides tickled, I sneezed gently. “It's herbs. The ones that didn't kill me while I was asleep, they want to kill me now.”I sat up slowly, testing every joint, every nerve. My legs felt heavy but they worked ... by the goddess, they worked. Before I could process it, the door burst open.“Alpha!” Justin’s voice thundered, echoing through the wa
Sarah's POV“Why did you need her to stop over?”Logan’s rumbling over the phone sounded static to me. Nothing he said made sense, bile rose in my throat. I closed my eyes, fighting to suppress the anger building in me.“So you're telling me they are on their way now?” “They should be. I didn't take that long with her.” Logan finally cleared. “Expect the delivery in fifteen.”His assurance came fifteen minutes ago, seated beside Thomas with my eyes fixed on the door, I couldn't help but feel uneasy.“What's wrong?” Thomas reached for my hand. His weight pressed down on my palm, enough for me to stop tapping the armrest so anxiously.“She's not here yet. Something feels wrong.”“You might just be overthinking this thing. Calm down a little.”His words were reassuring when it concerned my health but with with Maya— they held no meaning.“Go out and find her.”“There's no way you want me to go out and find her just because—“I'm serious, go out and find her.” I cut in. Thomas saw the lo
Maya's POV.“Make it quick.” The second werewolf told me. “I don't have a minute more to spend here.”I nodded, squeaking over to the blind spot behind the dark tree, crotched over and bent like I was about to pass out urine.“Do it now.”I poked out of the tree. The air was cold, the guards head turned the other way, his eyes fixed on the driver scrolling his phone, their lips moved in a conversation.I swallowed, the bushes behind me looked thick enough to hide me, their leaves rustling, hiding the sounds of my footsteps.“I can do it.” I whispered to myself. Then move!I pushed my clothes back in place, slipped out of my shoes as I picked them up. As slow as a snail, I took my first step.My heartbeat was through the roof. My breath hollowing. My eyes went over my shoulder twice before I took another step. By my fourth breath, I made it in hiding. The bushes were thick enough but too obvious— I needed a plan.My eyes shot at the stream down the way. It flooded into a river down a c
Alpha Williams' POVI heard it all.The kidnap, how it was all going down, everything. My body stayed still, unmoved even while a war erupted inside me as I fought to move my body.I screamed in my head, “Don't take her! Bring her back! You better leave her alone or I'll kill you!”“Hey! Let her be!” I yelled. “Hey!”“Don't you dare.” I heard Maya fight, I heard scuffling, I heard her gasp, I heard her fighting to be free from them but a whiff in the wind and Maya had stopped fighting. They spoke to her, warning her to stay put or she would regret it.She resisted once more and I never heard from her again. Only the sound of footsteps fading quietly into the hallway as those bastards carted away with my mate.A tear fell from the side of my eye, my pinkie moved as I struggled to get my body to work.“Move it, dammit! Fucking move!”“Move!”No reaction. I twitched once but that was it.I slumbered back into the state I was. Like a vegetable without a brain. I was too weak to drag in an
